When you install the MATE or XFCE versions of this distro, do they use the default DE or is it customized to look like Cinnamon? The screenshots on their website look all the same between the different DE versions.Also is MATE even usable in current year?

>>109769394sometimes, wireless devices like keyboards and mice might not work if your computer is in BIOS or other deep-level settings, but i've never had issues with that once linux mint is in the desktop environment. the one time my keyboard stopped working was because the bluetooth dongle needed to be taken in and out, was probably not in all the way.a lot of times, mint will need a reboot, especially after changing settings, but it might not always tell you this. i like to have 150% zoom for the display, which requires an "experimental" settings. it won't work right until restarted.the biggest issue with linux in my experience is that you're expected to use the CLI terminal at least occasionally, and i've busted by computer a few times with it. you'll need to use the terminal to install the snap store, which i feel is better updated and has less compatibility issues than the default software manager. there's some easy instructions up on the snap store website, but unlike standard debian distros, mint has a snap store blocker that needs to be overwritten. no fucking clue why.
