Hopefully not as Snap package, like the other shit MS released on Ubuntu.

>People flee Windows' shitty user-subjugating ecosystem

Just buy a mac, faggot

There's a slim possibility NT eventually gets replaced with Linux but that would have Linux taking on the rest of NT's features as a prerequisite, since they need them for their own VMs. But the userland is never going away, that's their mote.

Neither of these people work at Microsoft. There is no credible indication that MS Office is coming to Linux anytime soon.
>>
Why the fuck isn't there anyone using gpt-6 max ultra rape mode to port windows software to linux natively or with wine?

AI can't do everything.

why don't the free software community just make a better office suite

It needs to steal the solution from a human first
>>

Appimage. Office drones just need a word processor that never breaks. Nobody is looking for new features in typing in 2026.
>>
>>109766248
MS Office on Linux would be helpful only because so many companies use MS Office and will require you to read through and edit documents and its just a pain in the ass to do that with MS office online.

I've used latex for documents for years and anything done with excel can be done with python faster
>>
>>109766481
Obviously you’ve never worked at a company lmfao

>just make a better office suite
We have good ones, maybe even better ones. I know, baby ducks will say this is cope, but:
>Collabora forked LibreOffice - Enterprise
>Collabora is porting Archlinux to ARM (Valve Contract)
>Collabora is porting RADV to Windows. (Valve sponsored)
But even IF there are or will be better Office alternatives, they will never win. Microsoft is so deeply rooted in the corporate world, it's insane. At least Europe is trying to move away, this time for real. But there are multiple European cases, were they moved away from MS, just to revert back to MS the next election and the Major got a couple millions richer. Microsoft pays really, REALLY good, but there is so much corruption:

It's so they can double dip, product B is more successful, but as long as product A isn't a loss, requiring A as a requisite to buying B will lead to more overall income
>>109766435
The solution already exists, it's just time consuming
>Decompile
>Fuck around with the decompiled code
>See if you got it to compile 1:1 back into binary
>Go back to step 2 and try again if you didn't
AI isn't a good fit for this because it's le super smart and the future of programming as a whole, but because it can run 24/7

>>109766359
>hey gpt-6, get office working on my linux machine. Here I already installed wine for you.

I've never got on with them desu but I don't really need office any more so it doesn't affect me either way.

>Excel and Word are still the GOATs in their segments
It amuses me how people talk like that about basically toy tool for a boomers and women secretaries. 99% percent of corporate documents can be made in LibreOffice. 1% of documents that can't be made in LibreOffice are some complex Excel spreadsheets that shouldn't have been made in Excel in the first place but in some db management suite. For professional documents like comprehensive reports or scientific papers that have to be properly made you better use LaTeX or Typst.
And what they're talking about is Office Desktop version which MS is trying to kill every version and move customers over Office 365, but fail to do so. They're not going to port it to Linux since codebase is a legacy garbage that's almost impossible to maintain.
>>
>>109767739
I use libreoffice calc almost every day. "Can" do 99% of Excel documents isn't quite the same as "just as good." I don't know what causes it, but the user interface on LO is just slow enough that it eats inputs and makes you do extra work to not fuck up. Back in the openoffice days we used to blame Java, but LO doesn't have that excuse. Whatever GUI widget toolkit it uses is just sluggish and shit. Excel fucks your data more than LO though, so there is that, but it's still more pleasant to use the rest of the time.

Thank you based DHH. Linoffice is ok but uses too much RAM

>Linux taking on the rest of NT's features as a prerequisite
NT features like randomizing syscalls every update?
Why would anyone in the Linux world want that? Just so that Microsoft saves some money, not having to maintain their own shit kernel anymore?
If MS wants NT retardation, they will have to do their retardation in their personal fork themselves, like Google does for Android.
>But the userland is never going away, that's their mote.
So all the garbage, like Windows registry, stays, so no user benefits from the Windows side either

The problem with Windows-ifying Linux is that, when you objectively think about it, you notice that there really isn't any benefit.
You can't find anything Windows is actually good at.
Is the NT kernel good? No, it crashes, has blue screens and is inconsistent.
Is the Desktop shell good? Fuck no.
Is NTFS a good filesystem? Lmao, no.

Twenty years ago you would have found some things that Windows was good at, like its network shares and discoverability.
Thats not the case anymore.

Don't use LibreOffice on wayland.
Force it to use xorg with xwayland by unsetting WAYLAND_DISPLAY

European (Austrian) company that I'm employed in is completely MS cucked. Everything is coupled to it. Windows 11, no local user, login by Domain only, AD, Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, Excel files with MS only macros, Copilot integrations shoved into your face. Some Azure stuff running somewhere. They even want to move Gitlab to Github for more integrations or whatever. The only thing that is not MS thing is JIRA. If MS had their own thing for that they would probably suck MS cock even harder.

What about complex and custom cash flow models? That you still want a boomer manager to be able to play around with?

I have switched to Windows after 10+ years on Linux. I just do the opposite of what every idiot online does and I am fine

If you want good (MS) office on Linux consider running either Calligra or a VM with Windows 2000. I haven't tried it but whenever I see a screenshot I am reminded of how not distracting old MS Office was. It was boring, perfect for work. That's perhaps why something like Clippy triggered the collective omegaseethe if you'll permit me to make up some gen alpha words for fun. God bless you all. Haven't actually used Calligra on Linux either but the interface was chill. My goat is still Wordpad. They took it out of Windows 11 but it's the first thing you should install in the unfortunate accident that you ever need to do anything on w11.

For the same reason we don't light our own farts on fire. We owe you nothing, we will give you nothing. Be glad if Linux isn't outright replaced by something homebrew and free.

Linux isn't the right solution to every problem.
>>
>I don't think Microsoft is marred to Windows. Not where the money is coming form these days.
Yet when Windows 11 shit the bed they had to fix it.
this is a bullshit take? Windows is Microsoft's Consumer Portal it would be insane to undermine it.
Video game consoles are a very good example, Sony gave away their games to the PC and that made their console useless, they realized way too late that they were pushing their user base on the PC platform were there is other types of competition.
Exclusivity still matters, if Linux or Mac can do everything Windows can (and I mean this literally), there is no point of using Windows and that's when the Windows downfall starts. If it isn't a product, functionality can also be a form of exclusivity.
When making a portal you always want it to be different (and very useful as well).
>>
>>109766248
Excel with native performance would be big, as long as it's not the awful Android tablet version of excel
>>
>>109767739
>99% percent of corporate documents can be made in LibreOffice.
But it still can't properly read or save existing documents and constantly fucks up their formatting, which is the real problem
>>
Most likely Microsoft will deprecate the native versions and replace them with the web versions wrapped in Electron and require subscription accounts to use it
>>
>>109766248
OnlyOffice already exists
>>
>>109766248
dhh and his team of globalists are trying to use omarchy as a bridge to push globohomo controlled controlled crap onto the linux OS
