Why was the concept of "open source" created when the concept of free software already existed? Just call it free software.
>>
Google what open source means, app can be free but not open source

1. not a communism
2. free software foundation exist
3. op is a faggot
free math free programs free almost anything exists in form of school educational books etc
>>
Imagine aliens came to earth and gave us free robot slaves, but the robots wear protective suits that do not let us study the robots and reverse engineer them. These robots are free but not open source. I decided to challenge myself to come up with the most retarded convoluted analogy
>>

can you add food in there somewhere?

Imagine aliens opened up a bakery on earth and they sell the most delicious cupcakes, except money mean nothing to them so they just give them away for free, but they really like their bakery and dont want rivalry business to steal away their customers so they keep the cupcake recipe a secret. These cupcakes are free but not open source

Open source is a scam to sell you close-sourced software.
>>
Pretty soon AI will be able to reverse engineer and modify binaries. It won't even need to use a compiler to code. At that point, all software will be open source
>>

Free as in freedom not free as in beer.
>>
>>109768750
>source: my ass
there's no training data on this shit except patches
>>
>>109768167
Free (libre) is too radical sell
>>
>>109768825
You cant assume people will get it
>>
>>109768167
To kill the Open Systems movement.
>>
>>109768167
Rebranding basically by a different guy
Companies don’t care about freedom, but they do generally care about not getting fucked over by vendor lock-in
RMS was, and is, the Free Software guy
ESR (Eric S. Raymond) is the Open Source guy
>>

Because the beer/freedom gotcha is deliberately confusing, making it stupid branding.
