I bought Fiber Optic internet and it confused the fuck out of me. It uses light so theoretically we will never have faster internet than this right?
Also, why the fuck did the internet company offer me multiple different speeds? Do they literally slow the internet down on purpose if I pay less? What is the difference between plans that makes some slower than others. All the plans have the same physical hardware di they fucking unironically just slow it down on purpose if you pay less lol.

Lines have a certain amount of capacity, they divide that capacity by the number of customers severed and charge accordingly.

technically, you pay for the DDoS you are causing for others for having a high internet speed. the internet is a dynamical system

and this is not because companies are evil (they are, but that's a different story) it is a technical limitation of the internet itself

it means your latency (ping) to a specific country can never be less than a specific amount of milliseconds
