Whoever it was that invented the SCART connector should be shot, and so should all the Chinese who can't make them properly.

waido
this shit looks like an efficient engineering solution
robust connectors
made out of bent sheet metal

cost efficient, low tech, robust...
>>
>>109774720
Leave it to the frogs to fuck up something as simple as a connector.
>>
>>109774720
wtf are you STILL using LeSCART (it was frogs) for in current year?
>>
>>109774720
I don't think I've used a SCART connector in 20 years.
>>
>>109774720
The plug was ok, but the socket was often poorly manufactured.
>>
>>109774720
Why? It was brilliant. It always fit well, and the TV would switch to the correct AV input automatically.
>>
>>109774762
SCART is a connector, not a "video standard."
>>
>>109774720
Skill issue. Literally the only a/v connection that never gave me any trouble.
Plus can plug them blindfolded, even if you don't know the exact position of the port.
Now, those RCA-to-SCART adaptors? Those are actual shit. But that's because RCA itself is shit, and converting it to anything doubles the amount of spiritual shit it's drenched in,

>scart
more like shart, am I right
>>
In hindsight, DVI is probably the best connector overall. Compact, secure, plenty of pins, bend resistant due to shape and size. SCART should have used something like that. Thinking back on having to wiggle the SCART up and down until things look right gives me AIDS.

what the fuck do you even use a 9-pin din for?
>>
>>109774894
Display port is so shit in comparison.
>>
>>109774720
Scart was pretty good for the time.

I think it's S-Video

It's the flimsy sockets that were the problem.
>>
>>109774894
My nigga. DVI is god tier compared to this junk.
>>
>>109775069
S-Video was 4 pins.

comical peritel video connector

>robust connectors
no one tell him
>>
>>109774720
I don't give a damn if it were some random bare 2,54mm pin header at the back of the chassis, any way of connecting RGB is better than being stuck with composhite or even RF in everything except top of the line luxury models like Americans.
>>
>>109774720
SCART is the thirld wolder term for it. Civilized people call it Peritel
>>
>>109775227
without the R
>>
>>109774877
Yeah the metal it was made out of always felt flimsy as heck and the weight made it seems like it would always fall out the back of the TV, but in practice I never once had any issues with SCART
