The excuse was that they are not durable, and of course, they wanted to copy Apple

They fucking suck. You can't get the multiple sensors in a retractable camera without sacrificing a ton of interior space which is already at a premium due to ever smaller (thinner) phones and the desire for longer battery life. You'll end up with a thicc phone that people will bitch about.
>>

did you buy this phone OP?

how come on GSM arena and everywhere else nobody whines about "faulty" "gimmicky" "easy to break" popup camera after 7 years?

Cool, make them larger, i don't care.

It's really because the camera Island needs to be stabilized for the AI-based filters to even work. The noise canceling and stabilization needs a stable platform and a little tab of plastic isn't stable. It is convenient, but it would never work with the current cameras on the market.

>>109775940
Shit was slow and expensive and you sound like faggot who never used them and whines about disappearance of clown "designer" phones

Bad news sukhdeep; all of you are untouchable to us and we pray for the nuclear annihilation of your sub-continent every single day. Your great-great-grandfather being blessed by sacred cow piss doesn't change that for us.

still using this phone, thinking about flashing custom rom to get the latest android, but all my app settings would be gone so i did not did that yet

By wanting their phones waterproof and using instant face unlock.
Apparently it's more importatnt for people than having a hole (which you don't even notice after a few minutes)
>>
>>109780258
how retarded you need to be to have actual need to waterproof phone

I had one of these and before I turned off browser access to the camera (which was on by default), some websites would cause the camera to pop up for a second, it was pretty eye opening. It's one thing to read up on how everything we do is tracked and recorded, but it feels weird to actually see it happening right in front of you.

I guess a camera LED flashing up for a microsecond isn't something anyone would notice, but it's a tad obvious with a popup camera.

It was mostly news websites doing this btw.
>>
>>109780474
>It was mostly news websites doing this btw.
i noticed this too, wonder if its still case today
youtube for example never poped it up, gmail did on multiple occasions, news sites almost on page refresh
>>
>>109780503
>almost on page refresh
For me it only happened one per news site, unless I cleared cookies or used a private browser which would trigger it again.
At least I learned that denying permissions in settings actually prevented it. That surprised me more than the camera spying itself.
>>
>>109780520
private mode always, yea makes sense now

>>109775940
Why don't they make a phone without selfie camera? Only women use it anyways.

>can you name these multiple sensors?
>no you're a fucking knuckledragging retard
Takes one to know one, faggots.
>>
>>109781177
The guy fucked up by saying multiple sensors, the actual issue is that the camera nowadays serve multiple purposes.
A decade ago we used to have dedicated proximity and light sensors for example, now these two functions are part of what your front camera does, if you physically hide it your phone won't be able to adjust the brightness or turn off the screen during a call. Unless they decide to put those dedicated sensors back into the phone again, which now has a literal hole on the spot where they'd usually go.

>Seeething retard is incapable of coming up with a counterargument to the 100% obvious most sensible conclusion "moving parts on a phone are fucking stupid"
>shits himself and screams about jeets

Why are the underclasses actually like this? Why do they just push the same button when they lose?
>>
>>109781228
Should've led with that.
FaceID and Windows Hello need a dedicated sensor still. I have a Thinkpad that supports the latter and that one has two infrared blasters side-by-side, but the T480 is eight years old so I don't know what modern solutions look like. I wouldn't have thought /g/ of all places would be cheering and praising "shove everything into the front camera and leave it unobstructed," but I also would've assumed that a hypothetical brand new 2026 model pop-out cam phone would inherently break out those sensors as the trade off of the design.
>>
>>109775991
It wasn't that they are not durable, it's that they wanted to copy Apple, which was also the cheaper thing to do.
It also can't be used for face unlock
>>
>>109781269
>would be cheering and praising "shove everything into the front camera and leave it unobstructed,"
No one is cheering or shitting on it because this has been the default for the last 10 years at least. I think the last phone I had with dedicated sensors was the S7.
>would inherently break out those sensors as the trade off of the design.
And no one would buy, unless you live exclusively in your mom's basement not having auto brightness or the screen turning off when you place it near your ear are dealbreakers to most people.

Well the phone in the OP doesn't have a forehead or a cutout for those sensors, so either they're underscreen, they figured that problem out another way, or this class of phone was doomed without answering that question. I don't know why you've got a stick up your ass to be a huge asshole about it, it's not like I'm working at a phone manufacturer and can do something about this for you.
>>
>>109780228
I actually have 2 of these phones and recently upgraded my sister from the mi 9t pro to samsung s23, and she fucking hates the ui in the samsung and loves the lineageos 20 or whatever that the mi 9t pro has on it.
>>
>>109775940
I bought this exact phone because I knew you could never get one like this ever again, I'll run it till it dies.
>>
>>109775940
Hoping the Graphene-Moto will have something like that.
