Socmed needs to be fixed and reworked from the ground up. We need to absolutely do away with gigantic tiktoks and facebooks. If you disagree you're simply wrong and on the wrong board.

There are genius programmers who are thinking up alternatives but they all flop. Why? Because they're too technical for 99% of the population. Stop making "federated decentralized fediverse hubs". Stop it with the jargon shit. Stop adding layers upon layers of technical complexity. Stop implementing bloated JS libraries and tech that requires a modern device to run. Do the opposite. Go back, not forward. For example, phpBB forums represented organic social media at their finest. We need 1000 socmeds that all have 1000 users each - not one site with a million users. If you disagree with this, leave and go back when you realize I'm right. The phpBB times were fantastic. Everyone could make their own community. A real, sovereign community, not a fucking "subreddit". They were like cozy campfires or tribes, a perfect way for humans to socialize, unlike our current massive hypermarkets. Reddit is a capitalist lie that tries to give you "individual communities" when actually it's just gathering everyone under the same roof so they can be manipulated and sucked dry for cash and attention bucks. It also makes no sense that when Reddit crashes or blocks your IP, you lose access to a million communities when it should just be one.

Social media aside, how would /g/ fix 4chan?
>>

I often post about how shit 4chan is, starting from the fact that it exists to generate profit.
But the code is also shit and the CSS is shit, everything is shit.
I like how it's old and looks old but you could do that with more finesse, the PHP is just spaghetti and the CSS is far from optimal.

I've tried to create alternatives to massive capitalist social media but I'm still not convinced it's even possible.
And I dont mean to say we should give up and accept Zuck and Musk and their products. Not at all.
What I mean is that trying to create a healthy social media might be like trying to create a bar that doesnt serve alcohol beverages. Social media as a concept is flawed to the core: we shouldn't even attempt to "socalize" online. The whole idea is a joke. We didn't evolve to do any of this.
The best alternative social media would be deleting all of your accounts, uninstalling all the apps, getting a dumbphone, and telling other people to do the same and go play ice hockey or something.

>stop using the Internet altogether

Are there even any counter arguments to this? What will you miss out on? The FOMO is strong but is there anything real to justify it?
>news
I havent read the news in 5 years, been doing just fine. Better actually.
>friends
Discord database entries aren't real friends, they're just names and illusions only a tad better than an AI chatbot
>AI friends
AI itself will tell you that it's just a glorified if-else machine and doesn't know what it's saying.
>information
Books exist

The web is ded, alphies and zoomers are all locked into app ecosystems

I wish anon but this tech was designed for the clear skies and smooth sailing of the trustful web. They just cannot posture themselves upright against the onslaught of bots and govt legislation.

Smaller communities will never fly with normalfags. They are addicted to the engagement numbers that the Twitter userbase has the potential for. The average normalfag, getting at most four likes each tweet, thinks "my next tweet could do numbers, it could get 10k likes". If your community is 100 people, that's a nice community, but they will never be able to get 10k likes so they will never use it.

>Socmed needs to be fixed
I'm a broken record, but this shit dies when social media stopped being a place to post bullshit and became a push feed for businesses, governments, and content creators.

You cannot fix social media without limiting users in some fashion that will piss off people. If someone can make money off if it, they will devote far more time and effort into hogging as much of the service to make money as possible, while you and I are posting stupid memes and shit.

Stay niche or become Instagram.
