Finland and Norway sells 300 euro laptop which has 10 year old CPU and 10 year old RAM298 EUR is 346 USD and 3200 NOKhttps://www.iltalehti.fi/digiuutiset/a/d25d335d-73e1-4c03-8853-7cfb11960c65Cepter laptops are made in China and equipped with DDR3 RAM (last year when DDR3 was used was year 2016) and they have AMD A9 series CPU (A9 debuted in 2016)Screen is 1920x1080 and is IPS panelScreen wasnt bad, its an ok 15.6" panel but in modern day usage higher resolutions are a thingIt has 256GB NVME SSD driveSSD was A LOT SLOWER than 2020s offerings.Likely a cheap Chinese one.DDR3 RAM showed Korean brand when it was investigated through software, but if China made the chips they can also lie about it (brand is directly read from chips themselves by software and tha chipmaker can write anything in it.. and it cannot be changed after release)Some good things about it:>battery usage was decent, it lasts many hours>keyboard is ok but mouse replacement isnt, it is recommend you plug in a USB mouseBut for 300 euro you can very likely get also something that has more up to date partsOne problem is, you could just try to get lucky with an actual 10 year old, used laptop and get it for like 50 USD and it would be miles ahead this one if it has a decent Intel Skylake processor from year 2016, instead of AMD>Only AMD Ryzens beat Intel offerings, AMDs older CPUs arent worth it in most cases
I figure these laptops and similar desktops are aimed at small businesses looking for a shitbox to run excel and shit. Them being new means there's warranty, so even though they can get used+better hardware for cheaper, they don't want to risk any likely-in-that-case hardware failure nobody will compensate nor hire a dedicated computer guy to deal with likely issues, nor seek specialized advice on where to shave off some euros they'd probably have to pay for anyway. They just want a shitbox that just werks, and even for a small business there's little difference between 300 euro and something half as expensive if you're only buying like three or a couple for your inventory and finance people.
>>109780221Actually these could be very fine for the price, if Windows 11 was not a gigantic pile of shit absolutely unusable on such hardware. Also, I vomit every time I see a 16:9 screen on a laptop.
>>109780221Bought a laptop with 16gb ddr5 for 600 euro from a small local hardware businessAsked them for the price, answer was old supplyFind smaller stores run by locals, store chains are probably a waste of time to try
>>109780221I would use the laptop, it's similar to my firefoxbook. I would pay 30 euro for these specs.
>>109780221you could buy a refurbished 4-5 year old thinkpad for the same pricehttps://www.proshop.no/Baerbar-PC/Lenovo-Refurbished-ThinkPad-T14-G2-14-Core-i5-16GB-256GB-T1A-Grade/3340667that'd be a far better buy
can you install windows 98 on that?
cheaper to just buy this and add a 8gb stick.
>>109780221every country has their equivalent to thisit's usually big local tech shop chains selling this slop to clueless peopleif you are looking for a laptop under 500 USD, then buying used business stock is always best bang for buck
>>109780221hey anon can you give it to me slowly, you said DDR3 RAM showed Korean brand. why is 2016
>>109781291no lol, windows 98 has been uninstallable on laptops ever since year 2003
>>109780743Damn, nigga, remember to stay hydrated.
unbelievably shit deal
>>109781402Laptops bought on JewBay are subject to 25% VAT in Norgay and shipping can be a bitch. It's usually cheaper to buy used Stinkpads on Finn (local JewBay and Craigslist rolled into one).
>>109780221Just install Linux of them, would work a lot better. The specs in the the pic are totally fine for light computer use even in 2026
>>109780221
>>109785652that's literal e-waste, at least OP laptop has graphics drivers
>>109785665>at least OP laptop has graphics driversYeah you really don;t know whaht you are talking about do you?
my current laptop is 10 years old with a 10 year old CPU and has an IPS screen It works totally fine and see no reason to "upgrade" it. In fact current laptops have less functionality
>>109785706excavator chips have gcn gpusyou have kepler garbage, how embarrassing
>>109785665It's a random exaple of a machine I have been playing with and using today. I have malwarenuyes onn it and a load of tabs open, it runs fine. I'm not even sure what you mean by this>>109785665>at least OP laptop has graphics drivers>>109785665>that's literal e-waste,Works fine you are retarded.
>>109785733I also have twice as much RAM. My point is old machines even low spec ones are absolutely fine for general use like browsing with a load of tabs open and watching media, even with something like malwarebyes running and 37 tabs open along with a video the machine is fine and barely using any resources. You seem to want to seethe at someone about something.Do you think it will feel different on my 14th gen intel with DDR5? I'm afraid it won't you won't see any difference at all. You do know that don't you? You're not stupid?
>>109785751Yes Intel integrated is good however they were not quite there yet with haswell
>>109785782Yes haswell is very fast and efficient. I have a haswell tv computer.
>>109785783What the fuk are you on about. It has an ancient 2GB nvidia GPU in it a 4th gen i7 and 16GB of ram. Its fucking fine with a loads of tabs open, a video playing and all the rest including malwarebytes. It does not really matter a shit what it is once that is the case. Do you really think that it will 'feel' any different on e.,g an i5-14500 or something with 32GB of DD5 doing the same ? Trust me it won't I have one.
>>109780221It's a rip off because it only has 8GB DDR3 and 16 is the start of the comfy zone
>>109785805I'm only concerned about linux gaming.
>>109785846well why the fuck would you want a laptop then?
>>109785878Gaming in bed. Gaming in the kitchen.
>>109780221I got through college with a much crappier netbook. Seems a good price for college students.
>>109785899how is it a good price if laptops that are much faster are $30 used?
>>109785733>>109785783The Intel Core i7-4900MQ is significantly faster and more powerful than the AMD A9-9400 in every performance category.Core SpecificationsIntel Core i7-4900MQ (Released 2013):Cores/Threads: 4 physical cores, 8 threadsClock Speed: 2.8 GHz base up to 3.8 GHz turboPower Use (TDP): 47WClass: High-end mobile processor D A9-9400 (Released 2016):Cores/Threads: 2 CPU cores, 2 threadsClock Speed: 2.4 GHz base up to 3.0 GHz turbo (or 3.1 GHz base depending on variant)Power Use (TDP): 10W–15W (lower power, meant for basic budget laptops)Class: Entry-level budget mobile APU Performance ComparisonProcessing Speed: The i7-4900MQ offers more than double the multi-threaded and single-threaded performance of the A9-9400 because it has four full cores and hyper-threading, compared to the A9's simple dual-core setup.I like old machines but the machine in OPs pic is just too shit for real use even as a media and browsing only, it's only got 8GB and the CPU is a bit shit. It's more suite to being some sort of limited Win 7 retro machine for old software. I would not buy it. OP go look for a old dell precision with an i7 with at least for cores and make sure it has 16GB you should be able to get one for less than 300 and a 256GB SSD is going to be 20-30 euro if you look around. If you are lucky you will find one with a mobile NVDIA GPU in it. You won;t be playing any modern games on it at all and you won;t be with the laptop in OPs pic either but you will al least be able to use it happily enough for browsing and watching media and some light coding or running a VM or playing older games
>>109785958These pcs aren't really comparable, the haswell is 4 times faster.
>>109785897you won't be playing games on the machine in OPs pic happily at all, or even browsing porn. It's way to slow a cpu and 8GB only hurts that more. Look for something with at least 4 cores, hyperthreading more ghx and at least 16gb and a mobile gpue,ghttps://www.ebay.de/itm/117380462350 https://www.ebay.de/itm/407173758345?https://www.ebay.de/itm/407173758345etc they kick the shit out of the thing in OPs pic
>>109786015The last two gaming laptops I bought had intel atom cpus. I know how to look up benchmark scores.
>>109786003yeah and you can pick one up with a gpu and 32gb and the same or greater storage for 300 or less, the machine in OPs pic is a bit shit and shit value
>>109786015Never recommend ANYONE buy a Kepler gpu lmao
>>109786027>The last two gaming laptops I bought had intel atom cpusoh ffs whatever, sorry for trying to help then. Clearly you are one of a kind and an expert in the whole gaming laptop scene, I'm sure oregon trail runs smoothly for you or whatever
>>109786040ok by now intel atom man, have a nice day on your 8gb dual core
>>109786048I dont know that game but I sincerely doubt it runs smoothly. It sounds like an indie game developed in unity.Once you have a powerful desktop pc you can let go of performance and buy super power efficient incredibly slow laptops and enjoy using them.
>>109786040>https://www.iltalehti.fi/digiuutiset/a/d25d335d-73e1-4c03-8853-7cfb11960c65there is no seperate gpu at all in OPs machine Nvidia Quadro K2100M: Features 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM, a 128-bit memory bus, and professional driver optimizations tailored for CAD, 3D modeling, and workstation applications.AMD Radeon R5 (3CU): Usually acts as an integrated graphics solution found in older AMD APUs or low-tier discrete entry cards, lacking dedicated high-speed VRAM and offering much lower rendering and gaming capabilities.Comparison: In general gaming and benchmark scores, the Quadro K2100M delivers over double or triple the performance of baseline Radeon R5 configurations because it is built with dedicated processing resources rather than shared system memory.
>>109786077I hardly ever say this but in relation to your posts, Jesus wept. You know literally nothing about PCs or games. Linux gaming my ass.
>>109786077>let go of performance and buy super power efficient incredibly slow laptops and enjoy using themwell you won't be enjoying much on a dual core 8gb machine with no gpu and a slow ssd
>>109785931US prices for electronics are generally way cheaper than Europe.

>>109786142Wut? I literally collect computers.>>109786116Kepler is DOG SHIT IT DOESN'T HAVE DRIVERS LACKS HARDWARE FEATURES FOR DX12/VULKAN
>>109780221final analysis, not worth the money and not worth buying get something else you can do a LOT better than that for 300
>>109786170my firefoxbook with 16gb emmc would like a word with you>>109786171no? the used market is much better in europe because it's a smaller country with more advanced infrastructure
>>109786221funnily enough it's slower than my 200 euro dumpster diver build from 2014
>>109786215Oh fir fuck sake the guy has a buget of 300 euro abd you want to do what spend it on a GPU instead? And a GPU is better than no GPU, there is NO GPU in thsat thing OP posted it's shit old integrated cpucrap, in addition the cpu and ram and ssd in OPs thing is beyond shit
>>109786254the gcn integrated gpu has much better driver support than ancient kepler garbage that lost driver support in 2016
>>109786225>firefoxbook with 16gb emmc would like a word with youwhatever
>>109786262Oh you are actually retarded, sorry sorry. Please please buy the thing in OPs pic. Please it is everything you deserve.
>>109786266if you have nothing to say don't post at all
>>109786283Hoe about if your a retard don't post at all. This thread is comedy gold.I really had no idea how far this board has fallen.
>>109786281I won't buy it because I already got a new intel n4000 firefoxbook this yearit was 22 euro
>>109786296about all it is worth This is a fucking wierd thread, are you all reugees or something?
>>109786293Kepler is genuine garbage how can anyone recommend it is beyond mesource: I have one in my collection
>>109786315yes, it's a laptop, it doesn't need to be fast. it beats OPs laptop in benchmarks, it has 12 hour battery life, amazing speakers and a good screen. the only problem is the chassis is so floppy it mouseclicks when you pick it up.
>>109786318OK retard, pat on the head for you there. You did a post. Big stuff for you I know.
>>109786328how about you stop recommending buying garbagekepler gets destroyed by intel skylake integrated graphics
>>109786326The cpu is beyond potato even for 13 years ago. Yes a laptop should be fast enough for a large number of tabs open and playing a movie in HD. Fuck.
>>109786335Christ all those words and you still think that the machine in OPs pic is better than something with a dedicated GP twice the memory and a processor four times as fast. What the fuck is wrong with your brain you ridiculous child? You're not going to be playing jack shit on a sual core CPU from a decade ago with 8GB or RAM and no GPU or NVRAM. Are you fucking slow?
>>109786352It's an intel atom cpu, what do you expect. You can put it in a phone and it won't overheat. Perfectly fine for web browsing and watching youtube videos. If you want performance use your water cooled desktop.
>>109786370i have had 4 kepler cards, they are garbage. not sure what you have to gain from advertising gpus from 2012
