My 50 gal water heater is in the garage. I cringe at people who mount them in the attic. I guess it saves space but fuck 1 leak that you don't catch right away and the whole ceiling is gone.

You connect it to your cold water supply and your boiler is not involved at any point. Electric showers are the exact opposite of what you both think they are.
