Why aren't more people talking about this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA

i unplug my LG C4, CX and C1s when I'm not using them and I've rooted them all and I don't connect them to the internet. today I'm going to remove the WiFi/Bluetooth and microphone modules from them, starting with the 48 inch C4. my 80 inch A90J is going to be a pita and I'll leave that for last

this is not as larp. i plan on posting images for those interested only if there are those interested.

solutions for those who own and will own Smart TVs. on first boot

>open up the TV and remove the microphones and WiFi/Bluetooth modules
if you don't want to do that first step
>make sure there are no WiFi connections around in order to avoid triangulation
>DO NOT CONNECT Ethernet
>DO NOT accept or agree to any TOS

this is just a start, there are more instructions for rooting the device if it's an LG and for Sony, one can use Netguard to lock down all connections and pings

Dumb fuck reddit viewers surprised what IoT devices do. Wow, anyone with keys to your house can see what is in your house and change what is in your house! Better make a 2 hour video showing what you can do with house keys! Guess what microsoft can do with admin access to your windows PC connected to the cloud?

>>

It's far worse than this. I fed the beast for years to find out what the fuck is actually going on and what this is all connected to. >tv keeps record even while offline
and it can do fuck all with that unless it connects to the internet which it wont
not to mention they have said later in the video that it keeps most record on ram which gets erased when you unplug it

>>109782184
This wouldn't personally affect me since I don't have any neighbors close enough that I can see their wifi but I actually tested this claim by leaving an old OpenWRT router without any password at all to see if the tv would connect to, it didn't.
The tv doesn't try random routers just because it doesn't have internet access in the current one.
>>
>>109782168
I said without an internet connection
why would you leave wifi on
>>
>>109782213
Unless you happen to live somewhere where there's an unsecured WiFi connection nearby to which the TV will automatically connect and phone home, so the only way to keep it offline is to nuke it's connectivity abilities at hardware level.
>>
>>109782220
>Unless you happen to live somewhere where there's an unsecured WiFi connection nearby to which the TV will automatically connect and phone home

>, it didn't.
just a matter of fixing the firmware. you may be safe for now.
>>
>>109782238
They never said the tv does that. They claimed the tv might be able to do that but never actually tested for it.
>>
>>109782246
>that's not what this fragment is about
yes it is, he's talking about the tv keeping records after it is no longer connected.

>>109782246
>just a matter of fixing the firmware. you may be safe for now.
How am I getting a new firmware without internet connection?
>>
>>109781119
>Why aren't more people talking about this?
I don't have much to say about it, I don't have a smart TV. I have a projector with a NUC for my living room. I avoid anything labelled as "smart" (I don't need a fucking smart fridge thank you) and when there is no alternative available I never allow them on my network. It was pretty obvious that any smart device would be used to spy on you so they can sell your data so I wasn't surprised at all by gn's video other than how far the microphone was able to pick up text.
Consoomers don't care, they're a lost cause and I've grown tired of the retards saying they have nothing to hide. I have nothing to hide either that doesn't mean I want every fucking company in the world to have an open bar access to all of my data. It's a matter of principle but most people have none.
>>
>>109782216
how are you going to force it to stay off and not snoop around for open SSID or SSID provided by ISPs partnered with device manufacturer?
>>
>>109781119
How is the LTT audience handling this? I know they can't stand it when GN strikes gold.
>>
>>109782263
I don't know what you are watching, but he's saying that some ISPs may provide SSID that nearby devices can access.
>How am I getting a new firmware without internet connection?
that's why I said for now. until you get a new TV with smarter spyware.
>>
>>109782285
>but he's saying that some ISPs may provide SSID that nearby devices can access.
No he said ISP routers sometimes have two SSIDs, one for your home internet one for public wifi.
He never said directly much less tested anything about TVs going rogue and connecting to a different wifi.
Also I have never seen a public wifi just entirely open to the public that doesn't have some captive portal or some other form of auth. If you have any public wifi near you that is entirely open and unsecure why are you even paying for internet yourself?

If you really want to be super paranoid about unlikely scenarios be paranoid about new tv models being made with cellular networks to entirely bypass any restrictions.
>>
>>109782278
rent free
>>
Clickbait. The tv wasn't actually sending the text to LG.
>>
so, where does Samsung stand on all of this? It's obvious Chinese crap is spying on you but what about other Korean brands?
>>
>>109781956
>Bluetooth is there onscreen pointer,
This is when a schizo is also a fucking retard. Enjoy waiting 2 seconds per button push on your universal remote. How do you watch your content? Apple TV, Amazon Firestick, Nvidia Shield, Google chromecast? Sony blu ray player? They all have the same spy shit. You better be blocking them all and watching only dvd's and VHS tapes on your 4K OLED.

I have a LG G6 and C2 connected thru ethernet, blocked at the router and in their own VLAN. I have monitored every packet destination sent by them. I have monitored the broadcasts through kali wifi/bluetooth scanners. There is no difference to any other modern goyim device. If you have wifi switched off in the menu and traffic blocked nothing in the smart menus work. It will just flash network not connected now and then. I blocked all this shit and degoogled my phones in 2018. You mouth breathing zoomers are hollow and malleable as fuck.
>>
>>109782334
>He never said directly much less tested anything about TVs going rogue and connecting to a different wifi.
yeah, he just pointed it out as a possibility. and I am pretty sure it wouldn't be below companies like LG.
>If you have any public wifi near you that is entirely open and unsecure why are you even paying for internet yourself?
I want 1gbps, so...
>be paranoid about new tv models being made with cellular networks to entirely bypass any restrictions
not unlikely. just put a modem with esim inside and partner with a major mobile service provider. or look for other devices from the same manufacturer in the vicinity that could relay the traffic for you. those aren't even schizo scenarios.
>>
>>109782398
Whenever anything has access to the internet, assume it calls home and either don't connect it to the internet or block it through your router.

FYI this is all TVs made in the last 5 years.
>>
>>109781119
He hacks root access to the TV and then is fake surprised when a common voice command function records and transcribes audio to be sent to a search engine? Isn't that what all voice assistant equipped phones, tablets and laptops do? And then he applies a 50db gain to the mic and is surprised when voice is picked up 30 feet down a silent enclosed hallway? What does he think about Amazon Alexa and Google Nest tuned to pick up voices in a large room with ambient sound? How is this a groundbreaking discovery?

Anyway, what time in the video did they say it might do that? I need to win an argument.
