i frequently have to run untrusted programs that have a nonzero probability of containing something malicious (likely just crypto miners and such, not targeted malware). My only other option is to dual boot but thats sucks to have to constantly do.

>inb4 use a real VM
cant

>inb4 dont run untrusted programs in the first place
cant

>cant
I have a feeling you can, you just don’t want to.

this is true tbqh

The real name of the only known author of this closed-source software is completely hidden and he goes by a cartoon avatar from a 1990s disney cartoon.
>>
>>109781339
>wow its like magic, all programs are like in this sandboxed space somewhere inaccessible by other software right?
>look inside
>%appdata%\sandboxie: everything i ever ran is here
lol
lmao
>>
>zip %APPDATA%\roaming\your favorite web browser\profile\
>curl upload zip to discord bot
It's just that easy. It's so easy any blindly installed python script can do it. And did. Running in a sandbox doesn't stop you from getting raped.
>>
>>109781410
but you can blacklist sensitive & personal directories such as this
>>
>>109781428
yeah good luck blacklisting your entire harddrive faggot when you already demonstrated you're too much of a clueless chucklefuck to figure out VMs
>>
>>109781496
no need to get mad just because i pointed out how retarded what you just said was, dude.

oh and im well capable of setting up a VM thank you but thats not what i asked.
>>
>i'm smart enough to keep my computer safe even though i have no idea what the random programs i am running are doing
>i don't even know where to begin to find out, i just run random illicit exes that are probably involved with either child pornography or piracy

You literally were darwinianly selected to not be able to use a computer without fucking yourself. You're just going to be someone else's digital bitch your whole life, accept it and hope the slop you double click today isn't ransomware.
>>
>>109781514
>wah wah wah you're mad
nigger i'm not the one with serious technical failings and problems he can't solve himself
i don't need anything from you, but you can't help acting like a faggot and not getting what you want. good job you fucking clueless retard
>>
>>109781532
its impossible to know what a random program is doing unless you wanna spend hours and hours reverse engineering it
>>
>>109781546
whew, calm down, dude. Its okay you didn't know you could blacklist directories. We all make mistakes man, i dont think any less of you.
>>
i remember using sandboxie on windows 7 for something i just dont remember what
i think it had to do with touhou or some shit
>>
>>109781339
Its alright for random warez but if you know that something is likely a virus, I wouldnt risk it.
I use it for installing software and also to see if they work portable.
>>
>>109781339
>use a vm
>use docker/podman/whatever
>really rethink what you’re doing
>use bubblewrap
You’re being a stupid, lazy nigger. At least make sure to backup your system
>>
>>109781382
It isolates the target, not the other programs from it.
>>109781514
Use Windows Sandbox, OP. It's what you want.
>>
>>109781366
>real name completely hidden
suspicious
>he goes by an avatar from a 1990s disney cartoon
I was wrong, this guy is legit.
>>
>>109781339
Not that much. The non paid version doesn't even keep your profile safe from the processes it "contains".

There aren't very good ways to run software sandboxed on windows. Best you can do is run under a different profile with no admin credentials. But even then, they could read global registry settings and files.
Perhaps you could vibe code some AppContainer based runner...
>>
>>109781339
Windows sandbox if you have the required windows versions.
>>
I personally use it for programs that i don't want to install so they don't tamper with windows files. It's like installing portable apps.
