I've never worked for big tech so I'd really like to know... I have this suspicion that front-line HR hiring teams are very normbrained, and they watch a lot of netflix propaganda type shit where all the tech workers are black and into punk rock or whatever, and then they go to work with a mental image of what a tech worker should look like based on this, and since they don't know much about tech besides this, they only let that type of person through to deeper levels of the interview process, creating a sort of jewish self-fulfilling prophecy.Am I close?

They get handed a desired profile and they write up something they don't understand about it, then try to check boxes the best they can. The problem is the job description and the filtering happens through them and they don't know anything, they just know "my friend at this other company says she only hires X and she works at a big company (thus a successful company) so clearly I should only hire X". Where X usually comes down from leadership like "we need to hire more women/blacks/poos" usually through needing to hit milestones to get funded by government diversity programs (but HR doesn't understand this is the goal, they are too retarded for this).

The CEO personally knows everyone, there's essentially one layer of management bellow him (although it's all very disorganized and everyone is kind of autonomous.) The velocity is incredible. Everyone does what 5-10 people at the big tech companies I've worked for would do.
