I made a change to my 4chan X script using AI. When in gallery mode, you can view posts belonging to the file you are currently viewing like in picrel. I was insipired by the cook-along threads on /ck/ where people post their pics with instructions/commentary and I didn't want to keep going in and out of gallery mode to see what was going on. Everything else is unchanged as far as I can tell.

yes but only if the gallery function added a class name to the post whose pic you're currently viewing, which natively 4chanx doesn't do. and even then, it would be jank. you'd have to give it relative positioning, override the z-index, but that wouldn't solve a problem where very large replies would probably overlay the actual image you're looking at, or sit obscured underneath it.

using js to envelop it in a new custom element makes more sense.

Fair enough, I didn't pay attention to the dev's username. In any case, I haven't had any issues with it, but I have had banners go through using only the uBO list alone in the past, which is why I opted for both even if it seems like overkill. Maybe things improved since then, I'll do some testing using only uBO.

You should at least use a Chromium fork such as Vivaldi or Brave. But they have their limitations as well. For example, Chrome & Chromium browsers last I checked don't even let you disable updates for extensions. You need to mess with the folders and add them manually to keep a certain version from updating. Whereas Firefox (and its forks) will let you install whichever version you want, set manual/auto updates as default or for individual extensions, as well as all kinds of other features.

That's not to say that Chromium doesn't have its advantages over Firefox. For example, it has a significantly bigger extension store and sometimes that does matter, even if it's rare.

uBlock Origin, but it's only available on Firefox. uBlock Origin Lite is available on Chrome as well and it gets the job done well enough though. it doesn't matter what you save the image "as" if it's being displayed as a webp, it will ultimately save as a webp, just converted to a PNG.

it's kind of freaky that a lot of websites like fandom and reddit are not hosting images on-site as webp, they are being converted automatically by the website upon saving. that's what i'm trying to prevent
