It's my favorite distro. I always come back to FEDora.
>Up2date kernel + drivers + packages
>Rock solid, shit never breaks.
>Actual paid/sponsored devs for stability and security
>SELinux, Firewall, Secureboot, TPM, LUKS, Wayland [...] OOTB.
>Very good 3rd party support "they" offer .rpm's (not as popular as .deb, but still)
>Large package selection in the MAIN repo
>Respects FOSS (can be a negative for some... codecs)
>Upstream of fucking RHEL, used by 90% of the fortune 500.
So unless chuds can prove that RedHat, Fedora, systemd, wayland or any other crap is actively spying, harming or sabotaging me, I'll continue to use Fedora. I just feel safe on Fedora, I never have any problems and my packages are up2date. It just werks.

it just works

I can see someone unironically believing this and the only shit they do at their computer is browse the internet.
>>
>>109790244
I can't. I like Fedora but there's an update that makes it so you can't even boot at least a couple times a year.
>>
i wish they would classify security updates better. i'm sick of there being a red warning icon on my kde desktop every 12 hours because some ai generated exploit that only applies in obscure conditions just dropped.
>>
>>109790450
Yeah, I'm tired of getting spammed with kernel updates on AlmaLinux. It's at least a few times a week.

It's one of the few non-pozzed distros, I'll give it that, but still
>systemd
Yuuuuckk!
I use void btw
>>
>>109790456
can't you just install them whenever it's convenient for you? like once a week or two? or are you one of those people that is really bothered by the mere existence of an update that is not yet installed?
>>
>>109790588
I use DNF Automatic and have Pushover tied in with systemd and various other services. I get a message whenever an update requires a reboot.
>>
>>109790627
well, sounds like a you problem.
>>
Fedora is becoming too popular for my taste. What distro should I switch to?
>>
>>109790588
nta but my main problem is with kde nagging me about critical security updates that may or may not actually be critical. this only became an issue this ~spring when the entire population of india started running llms through the kernel looking for privilege escalations and rce. my preferred regimen on my desktop is to update and reboot weekly and also if there's a big security patch, but i don't have the energy to figure out how important a patch actually is twice per day
>>
>>109790244
It's true. Fedora has point releases every 6 months and they are supported for 13 months. They will never ship major upgrades that could break your distro, for example:
GIMP, you will get bug fixes, security fixes, from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1, but never a major upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0. That only happens each point release.
>>109790370
This never happend btw.

Fedora workstation constantly broke for me in the brief time I tried it.
Fedora atomic just werks. I picked Kinoite because it has Kino in the name and I’m a fat retard who claps like a seal when I see funny meme words but it wound up being the best set and forget distro I’ve ever used by a wide margin.
>>
>>109790833
Go read the Fedora subreddit or forums after a new release or a major kernel update and tell me it doesn't happen. They do fix the issues pretty fast when they happen so it's mainly the earliest updaters who have to revert
>>
>>109790915
I remember trying fedora 43 a couple months after it came out and it broke the moment I ran an update on 3 different fresh installs because of an issue with Plymouth. I’m not IT, I don’t have time for this shit. I spend 5 hours troubleshooting it and every suggestion online from Fedora forums and elsewhere did not work. Was that out of the ordinary or typical?
>>
>>109790097
>Breath of fresh air
Maybe if you thinking huffing the leftover shit out of red hats diaper is "fresh air", then sure. To everyone else though, you're just using some crusty boomershit and people laugh at you behind your back.
>>

What distro do you use?
>>

Gentoo because I’m not a filthy casual
>>
>>109790915
I update my machine daily, I didn't encounter any breakages in the last couple months. I'm on a full AMD setup. The only weird thing that happens is: I have every rpmfusion repo enabled and enabled the overwrite, SOMETIMES dnf tells me when I'm about to update, that my rpmfusion mesa isn't compatible with my current systems base, it just skips the package then and nothing happens, so I would not call that breakage and it's usually resolved in a day.

so my question:
What EXACTLY breaks for (You), don't bullshit me. Fedora CAN'T "break"

Hello Apple Zoom Zoom. You scroll your TikTok today???

I prefer Ubuntu because there are PPAs for everything, it's stable precisely because it doesn't updoot everything all the time, every question has a solution online and it has gnome reasonably preconfigured (though desu it's easy to add most of those extensions to plain gnome).
Also I'm really used to how packages are configured by Debian and its helpers like a2enmod, a2ensite.

Fedora is fine too, though. Use whatever works for you, there are no wrong answers. Except for Omarchy, unless you like vulnerabilities in your $PS1 because it's made by ricers.

I'm not a BSD user. I'm not into sharing. But you are a GNOME user, so this is fine, but leave his feet alone.
