Why won't Microsoft release a lightweight open source version of Windows?

>>109793590>vindovsbaharat!
>>109793590It’d be cool if they started with XP as a base and then just applied a quarter century of security fixes. But that’s fantasy land just like your proposition.
>>109793590try explain "lightweight" and "open source" to jeet
>>109793590can you remove that windows so i can see her stuff
>>109793590There's actually some secret versions of windows in Azure with increasing amounts of features. From something that is basically a kind of safe-mode only with minimum networking to slightly more features. There was a term for these but I forget. It was a number that went from 0 to 5 or something. There's also some barebones OSes that are used only for booting up a computer enough to downlaod a few things and then switch to Hypervisor (or whatever comes after). But I can't share those with you.You don't deserve them.

>>109793590If they did, who would use 11?
>>109795569Windows is already free, but I'd actually pay for a 200$ license if they just released an updated Windows 7 Enterprise.
>>109793590Why won't you stop sucking cock and drinking literal gallons of semen?
Indeed, if Microsoft doesn't make money from Windows license and just wants Windows to keep the monopoly to sell their subscription shit, then making it open source would make sense. And more importantly, competent devs would fix it, basically for free, instead of paying retarded jeets who keep enshitifying it. So why don't they?Maybe they just have things to hide, you know, spyware.

>>109798029The real reason is because it would be a PR nightmare since M$ is primarily known for wangblows. Instead they're considering porting all their programs to electronslop so it can be used on linux and mac though.

>>109799058>they're considering porting all their programs to electronslopAs if their software were not bloated and slow enough.. While they're at it they should totally port Windows to javascript and run it in the browser.
>>109793590Why would they do that?
>>109800908Because it's what I want and the customer is always right.

>>109793590I want a full version of Windows, released as fully free software. Even if it's Win2K or XP, that would be good enough. And if we don't have enough drivers, there's always glue code from NetBSD available.
