One of the reason gaming is limited on Linux based systems (and preferred on Windows and God Forbid, Mac OS) via Proton is because of the (((cheating))) problem, how do we genuinely solve it /g/?And for US Linux bros, some of the games that block anti-cheat, do it because they're lazy to switch a lever on Easy Anti-Cheat and Battleye, so shouldn't there be resources to bypass these slop solutions?
By building a platform of trust and identification to hold cheaters accountable.
Cheaters will always exist so there is no reason not to cheat. If someone on the other team starts being rude then I'll turn on my cheats it's that simple. If you can't be civil then I'll take the win from you. Also if you're on my team and you start sperging out at your own team I'll throw and take any chance of victory from you as well.
We stop paying for products which implement anti-cheat systems that are not compatible with Linux. In a capitalist society, the only way to talk is through money. None of you gamefags will ever practice enough restraint to actually do this, though.
>>109797387Perhaps recognizing that there isn't a single good game worth playing that has anti cheat that isn't compatible with Linux? What's the list, LoL? Call of Duty? Is this seriously how you want to spend your time?
Wait another decade for VAC Live and maybe then we will finally see a switch to serverside anticheat
>>109797387Stop playing online only games. They have always been cancer. It's time to resurrect the LAN party or kamachi games with friends only. Also, private servers with active admins is another way, especially if you have proper server logs. Current centralized server gaming needs to die yesterday.
>>109797682Both can exist. You're just mad nobody wants to play on community servers because it's a worse experience.
>>109797452>What's the list, LoL? Call of Duty?bro...
>>109797974I accept your concession
>>109797434>Cheaters will always exist so there is no reason not to cheat.I stopped reading here. I know you're an immature twat.
>>109798053ok zoomer
>>109797946community servers are a better experience but nobody wants to pay to host one. do modern fpses still offer server browsers? i haven't played any fps since battlefield 5
>>109797387What if we start designing games where nobody has to cheat like visual novels
>>109797387By letting people host their private servers. So they can deal with cheaters themselves by simply catching them in the act themselves. Why do you want a corporation to babysit you? They just need to give you the right tools for it.
Anticheat is more a live service online thing so none of the games I want to play have it
>>109797387>how do we genuinely solve it /g/?1. We don't. Personally I will never install any kernel level anti cheat, and if it restricts me from playing the game so be it, there are plenty of other games. I heard Overwatch uses a non-kernel one that simply detects suspicious movements of players and behavior patterns, might be your solution. 2. Play with your trusted friends to avoid cheaters.3. Play only good single-player games like I do.
>>109797452League is actually good again. They solved almost every single problem with ranked. All they still need to do is make streamer mode the standard and remove the data API element entirely while the game is still ongoing.
>>109797436And how do you deal with situations like For Honor or Crimson Desert which removed access from Linux much after the refund period expired. Or Wardogs which devs literally stated that wanted to support Linux so people bought the game only for them to remove support just before launch. In those cases people couldn't ask for a refund because they already had played beyond the redund period.Even when you're sure a game has support for Linux, you never know when you're gonna get rug pulled.
>>109797452I have a windows 11 ssd for battlefield 1
>>109798787IIRC the refund period is just for "no questions asked" refunds. I'm pretty sure Steam support would accept "developer lied about platform support" as a valid refund reason after that.
>>109798077Checked and true
>>109797434Brown hands typed this
>>109797387There would be no need for kernel AC if developers weren't lazy pricks and added a few server side checks and didn't send the information client doesn't require.
>>109798787>>109799032Yes you can absolutely refund in that case, and should. In fact you should refund even if you use Windows (and don't care much about the game anymore) just to fuck with the devs for pulling that off. It's a free refund period extension!
>>109799250>2 digits>checkedWhat causes this?
>>109797452This. There are millions of games on Steam, Itch or GoG that are fully Linux compatible, who cares if the newest AAA slop has kernel level anus inspection ring -1 anticheat and thus is incompatible with Linux? Just play something else.
If you must play a game with one, dual boot. It's expensive enough for them to maintain a Windows version, they won't compromise that for such a small portion of the user base.
>>109797434>If you can't be civil then I'll take the win from you.Too bad you can't cheat in an imageboard you fucking retard faggot. Kill yourself.
>>109797387>how do we genuinely solve it /g/?the same way you 'solve' the algorithmic feed on tiktok being shit and wasting all your time: by giving up on tiktokthere's more games out that you'll have time to play in your life. there's no need to play dogshit competitive fps where half the lobby is cheating or dota.
>>109799259/thread>>109799314>has no idea how games are built
>>109797387>The reason gaming is limited on Linux based systems is because linux fucking sucksFTFY
>>109799314I've heard that nvidia drivers on cachyos can be a pain in ass when you enable TPM in bios and also GRUB issues.
>>109799662>grub
>>109798640>league is actually good againhow does that chinese cock taste faggot
>>109799420>doesn't know that game companies pay small fortunes to Windows internals experts to make their platform specific anticheatsUsing Linux really does make people feel smarter than they are
>>109799889That's different from building the game.>Using Linux really does make people feel smarter than they are>desperate ad hominem after realizing he vagueposted
>>109797387Anti-cheat is dumb, games are better with manual moderation having admins ban cheaters, with per server ban lists. 20+ year old multiplayer games run circles around "battleye". Either play community hosted games or get out. >>109797434Based retard but probably brown or bait.
