GOD how is this hard to get a fucking job i really dont get it seriously..
>>

It's always been hard to find a job. It's only easy during good times.

>>

1992-1993 was hard. temp agencies and data entry mostly
1994 was medium, took about 3 months, hard mode: looking in the newspaper classifieds. online job hunting didn't exist
1998-1999 was easy, if you could fog a mirror you were hired
2001-2003 was impossible, I fell back to data entry and odd jobs
2004 my temp agency put me in a data entry job and i leveraged that into a perm role with that company
2006 was ok, craigslist wasn't obfuscating emails back then, my script was getting me 3-5 calls a week, placed in 3 months
2016 a recruiter reached out to me right when I needed one, placed me in a month
2021 was fairly easy, only took 2 months to get a basic bitch php job
2023 was a slog, many callbacks and screenings but took 10 months to change jobs
2024-present is a cast iron bitch, cant even find data entry all my temp agencies got merged or disappeared.
>>
>>109803117

You might be on the right path with a CCNA. I don't really know for sure. It's got a lot of concepts in there that will be asked about various questionnaires and whatnot. The OSA layer model learning how to subnet and do binary. But I don't know if there are any jobs doing this anymore. I think that's just taken by AI. That's the stuff that AI does. I honestly literally do not know what the fuck you will be doing.

>im so fucking broke and jobless so it will never happen
this is exactly how I felt in 2001-2005. life has a way of surprising you. have faith in yourself, don't lose sight of your goals, be flexible and adaptable. time is on your side

I don't recall reading any such posts here. No amount of certification will ever guarantee a job. The CCNA is too advanced and too specialised for entry-level jobs anyway.

Still, good luck. And if it actually gets you a job, remember to come back and let us know!

I did. I got a cs degree and worked as a developer for 2 years after school. Then i left because of a medical issue and when i started looking for work again 8 months later i was apparently unemployable. Now I work in a warehouse. Idk how it happened because most of my cohort, and apparently most new grads, are all doing fine. Maybe I was always a retard in reality and just kind of faked it all this time somehow, but for obvious reasons I’m more compelled to believe there’s just a very strong bias against applicants with recent gaps in their resumes.

My entire career I got a good job, saved every penny living like a monk, and then had to use every last penny to survive to the next job. I had to move to a different country to finally be allowed the privilege of buying a small apartment 2 years ago. I got to this country with literally 0 in my account, wouldn't have been able to pay the first month's rent if there had been any issues with payment and I was lucky they didn't require advance payment as they did where I'm from.
Constant financial crises interspersed by bullshit meme pandemics and other crap my whole productive life hasn't exactly helped. And since everything snowballs, I'm basically screwed with no way out, despite "doing everything right" by all accounts.

And it’s not the only one. I have seen over a dozen roles I have applied to that have been reposted over and over again almost on a weekly basis. ngl victory isn't as nice as I thought it would be.
the last 12 months of my life was the darkest, most miserable period of my life but at least every few weeks I had an intense feeling of purpose when I was preparing for interviews. Now... it's gone and I just kinda have a void while waiting to start.

I'm not sure if I'm going to just play vidya or keep productive while I'm waiting the few weeks before starting if I get the job. My very own apartment... say, any other 30+ anons who also have been out of the friend game for a good decade or more want to start a dnd and warhammer group or something? Y'know a fun way to pass the afternoon with a few beers after work? (actually you can have a few I can't drink anymore desu).

Millennials did this btw. I say that as a millennial myself. It's the teacher's pets. The talentless hacks desperately trying to cover their vapidness with pseudo creativity. The first kids to shoot their hand up in class every time to answer every stupid question. The first ones to volunteer for idiotic group activities like going around the room and saying what animal you want to be and why. I knew it. I just knew the whole time that they would grow up to wreck the world with their retarded shit. I don't get why boomers get all the hate when all they did was require firmhandkshakes. They did not cause this. It's not them who invented such humiliation rituals as personality testing. They view the world in some sort of Sesame Street vision where everyone's some sort muppet that must sing and dance for them. If you're not happy and cheery and creative enough just like them then that means there's something wrong with you and your defective ass will never work for anyone. And society doesn't want you but they can't say that, oh no that's bad and that's not who they are. So you just have to disappear out of sight and out of mind. Fucking nightmare dystopian world they uphold. Some real sci-fi underworld overworld type shit.

Mass third world immigration to every developed country, and the inevitable march of capitalism into dystopian hellscape.

This is obviously the answer, but the left won't accept mass immigration as the immediate cause, and the right won't accept capitalism as the cause of the immigration and failure to respond to it. So we can only bounce back and forth between two different sides calling out one half of the problem each, but never doing anything to rectify even the half they dare to mention.

>>
>>109814641
>how can you engage in art when constant low level stress is nagging you
a little bit goes a long way. designing that 3d print above gave me several hours of respite from thinking about the various bit of my life gone bad this year (unemployment, money, divorce, aging parents, son with mobility issues from an accident last year). for a little while it was all gone while I struggled to remember how sine and cosine worked. afterward I got to spend time fine tuning the spacing in the thing, cutting open failed prints to see where my math was wrong and fixing it, etc etc etc.
I learned years ago that the fore brain is not great at problem solving, but the unconscious is. many times I've had the solution to a particularly knotty technical issue present itself to me in my morning shower, fully ready to implement. 'sleep on it' is the most powerful way to solve problems and release stress that I know of

There roughly two kinds of "real AI jobs" (neither of which are real, the third and only real one stopped existing overnight in 2023).
1. Working at a chatgpt wrapper company. They couldn't give less of a shit if you know anything about LLMs at all. They only care if you're a frontend dev capable of calling to openai APIs.
2. Working at frontier labs. They couldn't give less of a shit if you know anything about LLMs at all. They only care if you can increase their clout by having 50 publications at NIPS (and they don't care the topic either, or if it's clearly fraud).

>>
>>109807090
The housing crisis is a side effect of the quantitative easing that was done to rescue the global economy in 2008. We would have had a global depression that was worse than the one in the 1930s, but the world's top economists got together and decided that could be prevented if governments printed loads more money and gave it to banks to spend in society, thereby keeping the economy flowing. The banks spent the money, and really, it worked (from 1929 to 1932, global GDP declined by 15%; the 2008 credit crunch only saw a decline of maybe 5%), but the banks spent money by buying up housing and shares in businesses. The banks, which were still in trouble, then needed to make a profit on those purchases, so housing prices skyrocketed and many companies pursued ruthless efficiency, trying to pay their employees as little as possible. These were side effects that nobody predicted, and they're nowhere near as bad as the 1930s, but the thing about the 1930s depression is that it actually ended. Society has never recovered from the 2008 financial crash, and that's why everything has been shit for my entire adult life.

The bullshit is worldwide, so any country that starts to do well sees a sudden increase in everyone moving there. If you live in America, you are competing for jobs with everyone in the world. If you live in Europe, you are competing with everyone except Americans. It's impossible for anywhere to recover properly.
>>
It's over, absolutely over
>>
>>109811273
Firstly, you must get literally any job. You can work up from there. Apply for every job you see. Don't worry what they're about; 99% of them will never even get back to you. This is how it is. If you wind up flipping burgers, so be it. You don't have to do that forever. Just do literally anything.

>Is it worth even trying?
Everyone asks this, because they secretly want to be told there's no point in trying and that they should give up. This is the great poison. The true mindkiller of the NEET. You must always, always keep trying. For one thing, what else are you going to do?

You tried the thing everyone else tries. That's why it didn't work. Try something nobody else has tried before; then you won't be competing with anyone else. It shouldn't be this difficult, but it is so there you go.

yeah when its that difficult and that thing literally makes you unable to live life you should go look for help from a psychologist and tell them you need a referral for a psychatrist who will recommend some drugs. It shouldn't be a permanent thing, just a temporal help you stand up and going

recently i got into an applied AI position. it's fucked up but they're interested if you already have experience building AI solutions. beyond that it's not that difficult to get in i believe. This repo was ai-generated, but roughly contains what the job is about, with evals being at the center https://github.com/calmrocks/ai-engineer-notebooks
>>
>>109818134
Actually the vast majority of ai engineering jobs contain no evals. The hirer will tell you evals are important but on the job they want features today, have no data, don't want to collect data, don't have tests, don't want you to spend a second writing tests, etc. Rare are more serious jobs where you do have the time and space to do proper evals.

cobol is being lined up for jews and ai to monitor. I'm going to laugh when the financial crash happens because of them instead of some other random bullshit. infact if you feel like it screencap this post so that whenever the financial system collapses and "we need to move to a more secure platform" the hacker known as 4chans can dig into the situation only to discover that it was indeed some jew who didn't want to do any real work monitoring and maintaining the system he built over decades to financially enslave everyone.

Your new manager has a boss too, and that boss is going to ask them what they’ve done differently to earn a raise. The best way to earn a raise is to save the company money, by getting rid of staff.

Also, in my old job, the private equity retards who bought us couldn’t bring in a single new customer in an entire year, plus they were afraid of people with IT skills and changed the job description to only consist of hard physical labour like some 19th-century factory, and that’s why I won the redundancy lottery and got sent away to ultimately wind up in an even worse job.

Yes, but they're extremely rare and usually unstable. For me it's in scientific domains. I can do that shit for years and be fully alert at all times.

>>109822167
Of course. Most jobs take about a year to get good at. That’s when the fun starts.
>>
>>109822910
Maybe for 2 IQ retards like you. The reason why it becomes boring after 3-6 months is because it takes us about 2 weeks to "become good at the job". Takes a bit longer for repetition to set in.

>The best way to earn a raise is to save the company money, by getting rid of staff.
no the best way to look good as a manager is to have tons of people you manage. also large companies have budgets and if you dont use it you lose it. I guess if you work at a small business they might are about savings. Even then when i worked in biotech startups they really had no idea wtf I was making or doing.

>>109819534
>>new manager stars hiring new people and neglecting old ones, not assigning work
>>fired after a couple of months
this is done to change the culture, or rather some feel they cant get shit done with the old people on the team when there is a new direction or manager. This is done in all industries. Usually harder to do when the people working hold knowledge about the processes at the job and only if that is known to management.

This was just the time between when I left my last job and started looking for a new one. I looked for 4 months then started the job I have now. I’ve been out of SWE for 3 years. Even if I’ve been working it’s not relevant work. And that amount of time can’t be covered up.

how common is being a male NEET in his late 20s? I know like 3 dudes who are full blown NEETs... 1. dropped out of uni, did some community college for like a year and is 29 living at home hasnt had a job in literally ten years not exaggeration. 2. did some community college, worked as a cashier now just NEET and addicted to porn (he talks about porn nonstop in real life and makes sex comments about women he sees). 3rd dude graduated uni and is unemployed NEET at home he had a job while doing school but that was 2 years ago

Linkedin prioritizes your profile based on breakpoints in how many connections you have. You need over 1000 connections to have good visibility. There is a distinct breakpoint at 100 connections.
Also, the job market has been for absolute ages about sending 10 applications a day for 3 months to get a couple bites at most.
