The previous thumbdrives all failed on me.

Is there a brand that will last five years minimum without corrupting?

I used the same full metal Kingston Datatraveler as a key ring for more than 5 years. It still works, but I changed it for a random unbranded chinese metal one. It's been my key ring for 2 years and going.

I have 15 year old usbs that still work, what are you doing to have them fail so frequently? Forgetting them in your pockets and washing them?

You want one of those usb sticks that use an ssd memory chip and usb-a for robustness. I got a 256gb one for like $20 back when prices were sane, now they’re probably five times as much. They tend to be very fast, mines almost 1gb/s

Black Rock Shooter is also older than most /g/ posters now.

I've been using Emtec USBs for the past 5 years without a single one corrupting. Can't say the same for Kingston or SanDisk.

Kingston XS1000. Or at least this would have been my suggestion a year ago when it costs 25% of its current price.
