What’s the deal with the DOJ (FBI in particular) circumventing the 4th amendment by buying data from brokers in order to conduct extrajudicial punishment.

I feel like this should be huge news.

The government has to enforce its own laws. If it doesnt then someone has to bring it up in court. Watchdog groups are fussing about this so except to see something in a few years, but most people don't care if the FBI knows their location. The obvious issue is Android and iOS and browsers don't do shit to stop data harvesting even though they could.
