What’s the difference between Cleverbot and modern AI. Isn’t it just the same exact thing, just on a massive scale
>>
Cleverbot never was trained on the entire internets data, and copyrighted works. But yes they're both predictive models. Modern generative ai is smoke and mirrors, it does not create it just regurgitates.
>>
I used to think that but I went back and used cleverbot again and it’s dogshit. It was only impressive in my memory before computers could actually talk.

Yeah but cleverbot was probably trained one maybe a few hundred thousand lines of canned responses. Whereas modern AIs have been trains on trillions of books, research papers, forum and 4chan posts, texts, emails, movies, shows, and videos to pull responses from

Clever bot kept collecting data and improving over time so by the end of its popularity era they probably had a ton of data.
If your really curious about the difference read the attention is all you need paper.

cleverbot sounds pretty good if you stay on point and try to have a conversation with it instead of using it as a search engine or a recommendation/idea regurgitating machine
>>
>>109803753
Have you tried it recently?

Yes. all chatbots are regurgitation machines who's responses don't break the illusion as long as you play along, ELIZA from the 60s for example works perfectly if you roleplay as a psychologist patient and keep repeating things over and over again

You’re right, I checked it today and it’s doing a decent job. I went to it about a month ago and it was spouting total nonsense. I got the cursed version that day I guess.

I remember because Cleverbot was trained on the people interacting with it one time Cleverbot suddenly responded to something unrelated to what I asked it with a full blown ERP sesh

>Cleverbot and pre-GPT AI: Einstein's down syndrome brother

Shut the FUCK UP, CLANKER
>>
when is the last time you talked to cleverbot and it it solved a millenium prize
>>
>>109803558
Clever bot would answer based on keywords modern AI i.e LLMs answer based on statistics
>>
>>109803558
Uh retard Cleverbot doesn't use transformer architecture, or neural networks, or chain of thought.

You are retarded if you were ever impressed by it. I just asked it "What is 1+1" and it said "How old am I?"

Works on my machine
>>
>>109803558
Cleverbot has the spirit of Ben Drowned, modern AI has not.
>>
>>109803558
It's a completely different architecture, it's like asking what is the difference between CRT and LCD.
>>
>>109803558
Modern AI is Cleverbot's slightly more put together cousin whose Dad got him a job in corporate. He can't necessarily do more than Cleverbot, he just has more tools at his disposal to make it appear that he can.

This.

It stole the work of an Anthropic researcher working on that same problem, at that time, via telemetry.
