My brother has an old MacBook pro laying around his house (belonged to his ex wife)Is there a way to clear and repurpose it somehow? I always remembered MacBook aging well and hardware holding up but can I still use this a a regular streaming/browsing machine or basic office work stuff (probably just writing desu to keep less distracted from my main PC)

>>109804725Depends which model. Before 2012, there are problems with the graphics card solder failing. The 2012 Macbook Pros are the best because they have user upgradeable ram and storage. Past 2015 they started soldering storage too. 2018 they introduced the T2 drive which prevents booting directly into another OS. If it has enough ram it can still be perfectly serviceable.
