most likely it's cpu bottlenecked because of emulation or because source isn't well optimized for arm. they arent really fast though, on par with high-end ryzen mobile cpus you can get for the same money

It has been great. but it didn't replace my PC.

my M2 mini has a fan and heatsink inside. There is a circular black base with holes in it for air flow.
A quick search on the google returns that the newer more mini mac mini has the same active cooling.
