What keeps you on Android? For me the main thing is Sync Thing and Apple's weird autism about saving photos versus saving files
>What keeps you on Android?Honestly? Not much anymore. All the cool creative mobile apps like Procreate, Affinity and Scrivener are on iOS and I'm tired of waiting for them to come to Android.
Open source, not controlled by an American megacorporation like Apple.

For the time being, I'm happy enough with my phone and tablet with GAPPS disabled and exclusively downloading software from F-Droid, but I see the writing on the wall. I know that Google is trying to lock down Android so I can't use Android this way and I hate how phones and tablets become obsolete when vendors stop doing updates.

Big mistake. Turns out all the versions of normal apps that exist on android are some horridly gimped version on IOS. Take firefox for example. It's not actually firefox, it's a reskin of safari and therefore has no extension support including no adblock. There is not actually a single browser with adblock that is good on IOS. Brave is shit. Orion has marginally better blocking but randomly breaks on a good number of pages. Neither is anywhere near as good as normal ublock on android.

>>109852222>Can you believe this ios/android only world came to be because normies wanted snapchat in 2014?Checked. Yes, it's crazy. Blackberry Z10 was the perfect phone and I had my friends 90% sold on it until they asked about Snapchat. I showed them that it was possible to sideload an APK that mostly worked with the built in emulator and they didn't like that at all. Even if it did work it was never going to be "normal" enough for them.I'm still mad about it because ten years later iOS and android still get "new" features that existed in blackberry 10.
Every time I had to use an iPhone I felt like punching myself in the nuts would have been a better option. The thing that really irks me is that Apple breaks shit that should work for everyone then acts all high and mighty. They've been doing it forever.

>>109850478It's been a while since I last used an iphone, so I don't know if these have been ported to iphone, but mainly: sideloading apps, being able to connect phone to PC with USB and browse files normally (no itunes crap), decent file managers, syncthing, being able to install browsers other than safari skins, termux, tor browser, orbot, newpipe and Google gboard. Then there are some google pixel specific features: circle to search and pixel recorder.
I just don't like iOS. Ordered an iPhone 16 recently and tried it out, sent it back bc I didn't like it.
Habit. My first smartphone was a cheap android so I already have a Google account/drive/office. If I were starting fresh right now I might go with apple, but there doesn't seem to be enough of a difference to actually bother switching desu.

Be it Apple or Samsung. Surely even shit like TikTok and Instagram doesn't need a state of the art phone to run? I can not in any way in my mind justify spending almost $1700 for an iPhone 18 Pro when I can spend $360 for a Xiaomi or Motorola that already does far more than I need. Like I spent 300 bucks or whatever on a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro like 4 years ago and it still runs everything perfectly without issues.

>>109861677>Like have they finally made it so you can transfer files over USB without using some retarded software?Like hell have they. I kid you not the iTards solution to not being able to directly transfer files over USB is to instead copy shit to a USB C flash drive and then plug that into the device and copy it back.Noo you can't just plug a cable from your phone to your computer and have it recognised as mass storage and transfer it directly.
