I just looked up when the Moto G 1 gen was released and it was late 2013. It was the first smartphone I ever had, which means that in 2013 I was still using my dumbphone because we were poor as fuck.

Iirc I was still rocking a Kyocera flip phone that was "rugged". I wish I had never bought a smartphone, but it's too bad all new "dumb phones" are obscenely expensive.

I was too young to be allowed a phone. But I remember my dad got a Note 2 around this time and the pen felt like new technology. And also he joked about how phones would become the size of tablets in the future.

I was still rocking some early 2000's Nokia. Back in 2013 this gay ass world wasn't so gay ass yet to require a smart phone for almost anything. Had the thing for some more years, don't remember what exactly pushed me to smartphones but it couldn't have been earlier than 2016.
Why so late? I had a computer. Smartphone for almost anything was and still is an inferior user experience.
