The reason they are better is because if you change into lighter or darker streets, lots, or have oncoming lights they provide quicker adjustment to environment. They also don't freeze over like the other LED bright lights do in winter.

When they replaced the streetlights outside my house with these bright led abominations I finally understood the meaning of denpa.It's like I'm drowning in an electric white ocean, and no matter how much I try to close the blinds or use thicket curtains always some of it finds a way of seeping in. Constantly watching, not a single thing you do is beyond the electric angels sitting on the posts by my windows.

There used to be "sodium white". I got one off ebay and ran it on a regular HPS ballast. It looks yellow compared to late-day sunlight, but in the dark it just looks like comfy incandescent light.
Aesthetics aside, I much prefer the intermittent dimming sodium lamps do when they fail as opposed to the strobing bullshit the chinesium LED replacements do when their drivers start to fail.

I can't see anything in the shadows when LED lights are used. With sodium lights I can see more detail in the shadows. Usecase? Cute girls hang out in the shadows.
