Man, I knew memory prices had gone through the roof, but some fucker stole my flash drive full of MP3/M4A tracks out of my car stereo over the weekend. I've got the original installation backed up, but I'd added songs and repaired some bad tracks and now I've got to find and fix them all over again.

When left unused for more than a few months, many brands fail unrecoverably. ADATA is particularly bad about that, but I've had it happen even with Sandisk after a year or two.

I've had newer 64GB drives fail in just a few months of heavy use. The old 4GB and some 16GB drives would last much longer, and I had a 256MB drive that lasted at least eight years. It would probably still be working if the fucking cunt tax preparer I handed it over to (along with my tax data) had returned it to me.Same with damn near everything else nowadays. The USB hub I bought in Singapore in 2005 is still working fine, but I can't get a recently made USB hub to last more than a year (I just buy the same product and return the old one to Microcenter because hey it's still under warranty you fucks). The new ones inevitably just start flaking out after a while because the semiconductors fry themselves.
