What's the most secure Linux distro that works well for beginners who don't want to tweak much?
>>109879400just get Mint.
>>109879400Ubuntu, Linux Mint or Fedora are the best for beginners. They're preconfigured and ready to use. But I still don't get why are zoomers so afraid of tweaking and ricing.
>>109879400>What's the most secure LinuxKEEEEKKKK>no tinkertroonMint sadly
>>109879400arch linux is easiest for beginners, it just werks
>>109879558If you don't hate systemd and Wayland use Ubuntu. It just works slightly better. If you do hate systemd and Wayland use Artix.Arch is a weird niche for people who hate Wayland but somehow don't care about systemd.
>>109879704There is no reason ever to use Ubuntu when Mint exists.
All you need is WhonixRun via any host system you prefer but preferably something systemd free to stay uncircumcised (so Devuan, Gentoo, etc...)Run an XMR-paid (via Tor) VPN on the host system. Multi route VPNs paid with XMR are available too. This plus tor literally puts you behind 7 proxies kek.If your paranoid schizophrenia is yet not satisfied, build or buy a long range wifi antenna (the pringles can one is often enough), connect via wifi of some local restaurant. If you do all that, the only thing that remains is to libreboot your Thinkpad to become zog-free and 100% Aryan.
define secure
>>109879720Mint just adds Cinnamon, which is good, but you can add that yourself. The other Ubuntu derivative with mentioning is PopOS, for those who hate Snap but don't care about systemd or Wayland.
>>109879800secure as in my penis is securely tucked in my cuck cage
>>109879400Mint is the distro for you and me>>109879445I'm not afraid of ricing and tweaking, it's one of the things I eventually want to do. The switch however can be overwhelming and I no longer have the time to spend a long weekend doing that shit when I want to simply install an IDE and clone my git as sun as possible.
>>109879720mint is ugly. ubuntu is pretty. loonixtards are artistically challenged
>>109879558you joke but for the average guy it works OOTB just fine w/ archinstall. not that id recommend that shit distro but still.
>>109879445>tweaking and ricingTinkertranny behavior.
>>109880076>trannies this>trannies that Will you please stop thinking about guys wearing skirts for five minutes? I just want a cool desktop.
>>109879400Mint.
>>109879400qubes or fedora
>>109880280>wearing skirts>skirtsWe're talking about men wearing programmer socks.
>>109879704what a weird take
>>109879400If you really want a ready to go experience then Ubuntu is your easiest choice. Most Distros are secure by default and Ubuntu is no exception. Many people don't like or recommend Ubuntu for cultist reasons but none of them disprove Ubuntu as a really good OS that works for the user and not vice versa.
>google is killing the sole reason anybody has to buy their phonesbold strategy
>>109880470wrong thread but can't delete the postoh well
>>109879445I'm not really afraid to tweak configs, I just don't feel like I need to invest my time into doing that. I run pretty stock Linux Mint and have for years.
For somebody who wants a not riced desktop but also some gaming capability, how does Fedora fare these days? I'm currently on Mint on my laptop and it works fine but I want to switch back to Gnome DE and I heard Fedora has better native support for it
>>109880330Why? Arch is contrarian to the Ubuntu/Fedora hegemony in every way except they still use systemd, probably the single most widely hated thing to come out of the corporatization of Linux. Artix is what Arch should have been.
>>109879400Fedora, maybe suse but then you'd have to use suse. Any distro that comes with selinux set up out of the box and uses wayland, which is Fedora and suse. You can configure distros that coe with apparmor (like Debian and Ubuntu) to be relatively secure, but you'll have to write most of the rules yourself.
>>109879819Better off using windows then.
>>109879400An easy to use distro I know which has a specific security focus is secure blue (an immutable fedora spin), but it is a small project and that brings with it considerations of whether you trust the project itself. Looks good and I think they made thoughtful changes to default fedora.
>>109879400Asterinas NixOS
>>109879810This is literally why I used pop for five years
>>109879400Distro guide for newbies:Casual web browsing: Linux Mint. known for stability, and is forked from Ubuntu to bypass its unpopular corporate decisions. Its default desktop environment, Cinnamon, is similar to windows 7.Gaming: Bazzite. the main SteamOS replacement and is tweaked for the latest performance upgrades and hardware compatibility, it is also spearheading the bootable container image technology Fedora is planning to migrate to.Think of traditional Linux updates as bringing your car to the mechanic to tweak it and add things. Atomic/image-based upgrades are like taking a suitcase with your personal files to a new car, and keeping the old car as a fail-safe backup; this is similar to how Android does its updates.Bazzite's root files are immutable so you can't brick it by tinkering too much. Use the KDE Plasma edition for a desktop environment similar to Windows, but better and far more customizable. There is also Aurora, which is a sister project to Bazzite without the gaming hardware and performance tweeks.---There is also ZorinOS, which is designed with features to help people migrate from Windows (such as an .exe detector that will automate the WINE translation to run the app, or suggest Linux alternatives for the app), and has a highly customizable layout toggles to mimic the appearance of Windows and MacOS with the press of a button. Though it has a smaller community than Linux Mint.PopOS is relatively popular, but its developers are currently focused on working on their ambitious Cosmic desktop environment, so it will be a while before the distro and desktop environment are stable.
