Not to defend Sam and Dario's BS, but a) notice how the books they're destroyimg were already on their way to the landfill, they essentially bought garbage for cheap and plenty more "ultra rare" books got destroyed by libraries shutting down and no one in the news cycle cared. And b) the whole book destroying shit is due to draconian copyright laws, if they don't destroy them after digitizing them, they'd be liable for copyright infringement after using the scans for a commercial product. It's why IA doesn't have to destroy them, but OpenAI and Anthropic do, thank Disney and other copyright law lobbyists for that.
