I'm looking to buy a used ps4 but wondering if its worth paying extra money for the pro or for the standard version. Also there much of difference between the standard and slim? I found a non-slim ps4 for cheap but worried it might get hot and load.

Pro is a scam.

the regular one will be hotter and use more power, but if you repaste it it should be fine. Of course prefer the slim, but if the price difference is big, just get the fat one

that pc is really slow
try to save up $20-30 you'll have a much better gaming pc

thanks, I can try repasting it. I've done it on a fat ps3 ages ago, this one im hoping will be even easier.

Pro > Slim > non-slim

I vaguely remember there being some issue with the release non-slim model. Might've been something with thermals.

Preferably, probe to see if you can get one on a firmware that's able to be jailbroken. Also, it might be worth taking it apart and giving it a clean and repasting it (phase change thermal pad might be worth it). Isolate it in your car for a few days before bringing it. Trust me.

What do you mean by this?

I think the Pro is worth it if you have a 4K TV. There are also implications for the PSVR is you get one of those. There are a few good VR games marooned on the old hardware and used headsets are dirt cheap. I did have to repaste the SOC on mine, the fan often maxed out before I did that. It's an easy job, if a bit tedious, and you need a security torx bit for one screw.

I think it's the only one that benefits from a SATA SSD as well

I'm referring to any pests that might be lurking around inside, that can potentially go on to infest your home.

Rule of thumb, if the seller looks like a crackhead, an absolute specimen, or is a woman, turn 360 degrees and walk away.

You might be thinking of an issue where, depending on how it was sat, when the system got hot, the little rubber power button would heat up and expand, and switch itself off. Happened to me a few times, but standing it up vertically instead of horizontally seemed to prevent it

Pro and Slim run cooler and are more efficient, and are less likely to have drives with faulty lasers
>>

all hdd using consoles benefit from ssds even if their sata bus cant fully utilize the bandwidth since they dont need to seek to find files. i put one in my ps3 and ass creed 2 load times dropped from like 90+ seconds to under 30

What are some cool things you can do with it jailbroken? Last console I had was a PS3 over 10 years ago.

buy this one

don't think my ancient 980ti and 1366 socket CPU can handle this
>>
>>109938494
so buy a better pc instead of a ps4, 2-in-1
>>
>>109936497
It's much cheaper to just buy the console than an RTX 5090 in order to brute force 20fps on shadps4

games run on cpus not gpus dumbass

>>109939134
you are pretty confident for being wrong
gpu still matters if an emulator's shader recomp and handling of draw calls isn't well-optimized

nta, but most emulators are running instruction sets that only interact with the CPU.
>>
>>109939282
the GAME logic, physics and story scripts run on the cpu. the gpu draws the graphics. yes there are exceptions but they are exceedingly rare

>>109932141
if you get a pro, you can use a patch to play bloodborne at ~50-60fps. worth it alone for that personally
>>

That's good to know, it's one of the games I want to play

Play pirated games (fpkgs), use Linux on it (this is where the Pro model comes in handy since it allows you to allocate a greater amount of VRAM to the install), play (a select few) PS1/PS2 games as well as other similar older titles. That's all that comes to mind.

Aside from playing PS4 exclusive games, everything else can be done on an adequate PC for emulation, or a PS3, which would be able to do all of the above alongside playing PS3 games (paired with the risk of it overheating and shitting itself too).

>>109938510
This, except just use it to emulate older PS titles. Prices WILL increase (MORE) around November, and you'll likely be SOL for getting a decent PC for the next 3 years depending on how much of a poorfag you are, and how much of a poorfag you'll become.

PS4s will continue to depreciate, and then slightly increase in price when a coldboot exploit gets discovered (released).
>>
>>109942057
Yeah, I was looking around and it seems like they make decent emulation boxes. Gonna keep an eye out for one, pretty cheap hardware for the performance.
>>
>>109942528
Don't buy an advertised emulation box; pretty much anything can emulate at least up to PS2-era games. Look at what the system requirements are for the emulation software you need, and go from there.

From what I've read, you should stick with Intel and I think NVIDIA.
