So, it happened AGAIN. We can blame RAMapocalypse, we can blame Scam Altman, we can praise AMD's efforts but the truth is it's simply not enough. MSRP, skyrocketing prices, you name it, it all stinks.
Don't get me wrong, I still have full faith in Lisa Su and the lads, but MASSIVE restockings are desperately needed in Q4 2026. Otherwise I'm not very optimistic about 2027 at all, or any RDNA4 Redstone updates for that matter. Not shipping like this. What do you think, /g/? #RadeON or #RadeOFF?

All AMD and Intel need to do is make better GPUs, this isn't difficult.
>>
Bigger take is that discrete GPU is regressing back to its hobbyist only roots. Demand destruction is going to start happening. It is between lack of killer apps that actually needs the features and power of current SKUs for the majority of use cases. The raising prices are killing majority of the user base, only the whales/hobbyists are tolerating current prices.

i do ML more than I game, these stats are horse shit, people want NVIDIA because they invested in CUDA, cuDNN is what sells NVIDIA
>>
>>109934302
nothing to do with hardware bro, its the software backbone, whole ML is written for cuDNN
>>
>>109934302
Nah, the real problem is marketing and shills. Nvidia has spend decades building its fortress of mindshare. Even recent like DLSS5 power-spikes and 12VPHR fiasco didn't put a dent in Nvidia's mindshare.
The majority of v/tards go NVidia simply because of the green eye.
>>
Its not buy by gamers anon...
>>
I'm using RDNA2 and I'm still optimistic because my games all run fine on my 4k TV above 60fps using upscalers. They were shitty to start but XeSS and FSR have come so far in their latest iterations that I just reduce some in-game settings and target 70-80fps with the least amount of upscaling possible. Most of the time I'm upscaling 1080p to 4k and it's perfectly fine as long as the framerate is high with no frame gen.
>>
>>109934315
>cuDNN
Doesn't matter for the gayming market brainlet. They already have SKUs for ML stuff that sell for 5-10x as much for nearly identical silicon.
Nvidia doesn't even care about the silly gayming market. Their stock profile already had itemized gayming under a secondary market category.
>>
>>109934308
>Bigger take is that discrete GPU is regressing back to its hobbyist only roots.
honestly most of my gaming can be done by a modern igpu. Whenever I feel like upgrading, it will probably be some amd apu or a mac.
>>
>>109934323
you are just as retarded as >>109934302

if you are a gamer, you should be going for performance per buck, if you are doing ML you are SOL, all libraries are written for CUDA, because nvidia had the brains to invest into that technology, now its leveraged by gaymers also with the DLSS technology, so they are crushing the marke, and will continue to do so, nvidia is the most important company in the world
>>
Are gamers the biggest goy cattle? Yes.
>>
>>109934339
if they scrap XX90 series that will be a big blow, they dont even release 5090 anymore i feel like, fucking hell
>>
>>109934280
The probably is there is no choice in tech. AMD and Intel copies the exact same shit NVIDIA is doing. So why would anyone chose AMD or Intel, when they are just doing the same thing but worse. Maybe they should start doing their own thing rather than just copying NVIDIAs hallucination accelerator.
>>
>>109934343
This. I can run hell divers 2 on ultra settings 1440p on my 265k igpu at 90+ fps. wtf.
>>
The meta has always been AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU. There was a short time when Intel managed to nab the market post Bulldozer but AMD is back on top in the CPU market like always. ATI was never good at making GPU and the one and only hook that AMD had was being open source GPU drivers for Linux which Nvidia is also nabbing from them because of the AI insanity.
>>
>>109934323
>Nvidia has spend decades building its fortress of mindshare.
It also helps that they run shit without bugs. I've been using Radeons for 15 years but they had bugs that I'm just now seeing fixed after switching to a Geforce. Most of it is obscure (like a scene demo) or minimal (GDI acceleration is way faster, not as fast as back on Win7/8 but better than with a Radeon). But all the issues add up.
I remember the PCSX2 devs bitching about Radeons having shit fucked OpenGL support too back in the day.

Having all the normal GPU settings (like choosing between multisampling vs supersampling or forcing anisotropic filtering on at all times) being hidden under "Legacy Settings" kind of sucks though. I thought Nvidia still used their classic control panel instead of this app nonsense.

>Nvidia doesn't even care about the silly gayming market

And why should they when they can sell a $500 card for $15000 on the datacenter market? The current trends already proved that they can sell a 5060 for $1000 or a 5090 for $10000 and retards will still buy it anyway.

Nvidia is completely in the right in this.

>>109934493
you are either underage or an idiot.
Last time before Ryzen that AMD CPUs were good was Athlon XP (with SSE), Athlon 64 (with SSE2/3), and 64 X2, because they trumped the Pentium 3/4 in anything not using those instructions (AMD got them years later, which was a big issue with anything compiled to use them). After that, Core 2 Duo/Quad and the i7s ruled the roost until Ryzen ~5000 series. Phenom was a trainwreck, but by Phenom 2 it was on par with overclocked Core 2 quads, too bad it was up against Nehalems and the 2500k.
Bulldozer nearly bankrupted the company and they only pulled through because they bought up Ati.

For GPUs, 9700/x800/x1950 ruled hard, until the 8800GT demolished everything Ati released, up until the HD5000 which was way better for the money (the 480 and 580 were like 10% faster but 30-50% more expensive and ran twice as hot, the 5850 barely got hot). After that AMD cards were only good where the software took advantage of them (Bitcoin, Mantle, Ethereum), Geforce cards were consistently better in anything except maybe price/performance ratio.

And Intel is still better in shit like motherboards, AMD can't make a good chipset at all.
>>
>>109934280
Cand buy my gpu any longer. End of life lmfao
>>
>>109934329
I'm seeing some degradation in the ram on a 6950xt, already have had to drop clocks.
Shit has to last me until UDNA which is apparently going to be 2028 at the earliest now, for us plebs at least the datacenters will have it earlier.
>>
AMD really needs to drop out of the GPU market and go straight to APU. 8700G is a banger for most gaming. Their 395+ AI max is even better, but is not sold as a standalone APU.
Even then, I'm able to play WoW on all max settings, 1440p, 60fps locked, on an 8700G that is passively cooled in a DB4 PC case. Zero fans. Stays 80C peak through hours of gaming.
>>
>>109934280
Amd would have to produce stock and Intel would have to not immediately give up if they wanted market share.
>>
>>109934280
AMDsisters... not like this...
>>
>>109934659
Yes. There is nothing worth doing on a personal computer that requires more than an APU.
>>
>>109934495
no it doesn't. you believe it does because of the marketing. that's assuming you actually believe this instead of merely believing nvidia to be the company to shill for.
>>
>>109934495
Wrong, Nvidia has it laundry list of stupid issues and bugs over the decades. Their shills are just better at damage control and whatbouthish tactics.
>>
>>109934308
>Bigger take is that discrete GPU is regressing back to its hobbyist only roots
Good
>>
>>109934280
So if every single company is struggling to find RAM and other parts, who's actually even getting the RAM? Is it all OpenAI and Anthropic? Or are they just all squabbling over a small amount of it like wild animals?
>>
>>109934280
>>109934302
Or maybe is because you need an NVIDIA GPU to do AI and companies are specifically buying GPUs just for AI and not for gaming while gamers are still stuck with a 1080ti?
All journalists should fuck off from this earth.
>>
>>109934302
i bought ATI solely due to muh linux. I have to admit that NVIDIA is superior in every other way beside having proprietary GPU driver.

>>109935146

you retards have been saying that since covid and the crypto frenzy but nothing happened so far. pc platform is actually getting more popular if anything.
>>
>>109935153
What difference does it make, they both run CUDA which is a vendor lock-in technology that forces people to not buy any other vendor.
I wouldn't be surprised if they had to buy consumer grade despite needing workstations given the current supply and demand.
>>
>>109935261
datacenters do not consumer cards
>>
>>109935268
Google's empire is literally built on the principle of using every component they can get their hands on and I have no doubts people lesser than them NEED to do that not just want to.

retard datacenters are a minority of AI hardware customers

thats why you say "datacenters" its a boogeyman
