I knew it would happen long before you faggots figured out Ai will replace devs at some point in time.

And here's how: Remember when AMD had this major conference introducing RDNA2 and was rambling about Ai processing instead of gaming ?
I did dig deeper and read through AMDs own marketing reports that's where I sumbled on the term LLM and the emerging algorithms that apparently were being used for years already at countless insurance companies... boom !

The thing is, 10 years from now, mechanical engineering will also become mostly phased out to boston dynamics and whatever the fuck the chink copy cat will be called by then.

Luckily, I'll be gone and will not have to see the bullshit come into flourish.
>>
Programs will continue to regress as long as managers think software development is just about how fast one can type out code.

They will continue to demand x without even trying to define x or what effect it will have on y or z.

>>109935731
Very depressing to be honest. What did the CD grads who graduated in the last couple years end up doing?
>>
>>109935953
are you talking about the increase in electrical engineers?
They will be in far, far higher demand if we transition to so called renewables (we won't because it's unfeasible)
They stress the grid far more than typical base production electricity generation, transfer capacity needs to be far higher, coordination needs to be far better and any potential eergy storage also adds additional complication.

If you are still going to college you are a retard

STEM degrees are the biggest fucking joke. Learn a trade. Start a business. Reivest your gains. Thats it. Everything else is luck and/or ivy league schools that give you the "who you know" not "what you know" credit. There is no higher education = livable wage anymore.
>>
>>109939070
You can't start a business in say, software (think contracting) unless you have a degree. Precisely 0 people will agree to sign a contract with you otherwise. As for startups, you better be indian, 18, and a harvard dropout because otherwise fuck you.
>>
>>109939127
Why do boomers love Indians so much?
>>
>>109939528
They are insulated from the downstream effect of their street shitting, and they're cheap, with a sycophantic streak.

They did it to themselves. Without the massive amount of shitty CS student projects over the last decade LLMs wouldn't have anything to regurgitate.

Except it's actually happening. The word you're looking for is inevitable.

>>109935731
Good. Universities have been handing out CS degrees to anyone that can pay the tuition for years now, filling the job market with useless retards that have no idea what they're doing. Competent programmers are still in high demand.
>>
if software "engineers" think they can handle mech eng theyre very sorely mistaken
>>
>>109940349
why?
>>
>>109940356
Because 20 IQ borderline dropouts imagine they are geniuses and that CS is beneath them because they can't wrap their heads around such advanced concepts as variables and loops.
>>
>>109935775
Boston dynamics has never made a single product
>>
>>109940537
They did make several products, but it never really got anywhere because they never managed to crack control well enough. They're still far ahead of the homebody though.
>>
>>109935731
Computer science is a meme degree for people who want to become computer man without actually having any idea of how computers work, and it teaches you all the wrong stuff. Good riddance.
>>
>>109935758
They arent dying though, they are becoming vibecoders who will be vibecoding your software. Trans sofrware.

>>109940803
The irony is palpable
>>
>>109940960
What irony? Having every idiot and their mother enter Comp Sci and become a Java slopper is how we got to the current state of tech. Vibe coding is just the natural extreme of it.
>>
>>109940996
You have no idea what comp sci is or does.
>>
>>109940349
>>109940412
first year math classes at ethz are the same regardless of major (maybe except for math and physics that have more rigorous foundation math and physics courses)
so an ethz bachelor is a few courses away from being able to start a mechanical engineering master
>>
>>109941189
It's the same nearly everywhere in the world (in STEM majors).

this is a natural correction

Computer science being the free money degree if you don't care about academics and just want to do software is ending.

If you still have an interest in the core comp sci, there are plenty of paths, you just might have to learn how to design RAM or something instead of python leetcode.
>>
I seriously regret not doing EE over CS, but i started during covid and the closest uni with CS is 1.5hrs and the closest with EE is 3 hrs so i went with CS. Not because of the job market or anything getting internships just fine its bc CS is fucking GAY and trans
>>
>>109941249
It still is the free money degree desu
>>
>>109941351
lots of unemployed comp sci students now, used to be fairly guaranteed work. The good ones from good unis sure, but it used to be mediocre jobs for mediocre people as well
>>
>>109940322
Let me know when any nation signficiantly reduces its base load electricty production in favor of renewables without an increase of their eletricity import or without an increase of brownouts.

Germany hasn't reduced their reliance on either coal or nuclear, they just import nuclear and keep most of their coal, whatever coal they don't have they import from Poland.
>>
>>109935731
Yeah i can tell how much (more) dogshit most software has gotten.
>>
>>109943991
Since Sweden started replacing several nuclear power plants with windmills they've started to burn oil for power during winters, this is something they never did before.
>>
EE is the best anyway, always was
>>
>>109939528
1. boomers know Indians from a time when the internet didn't exist and didn't have to deal with them on a constant basis like today
2. boomers are subhuman
>>
>>109945170
Sweden never did that and specifically rejected the notion of doing that. Sweden power is largely hydro, with nuclear second.
>>
>>109945508
What did Sweden not do? Shut down nuclear power plants or burn oil for power?
The Karlshamn Power Plant burns many megawatt hours worth of oil every winter and has been for several years.

They've shut down several reactors in Ringhals and want to shut down in Oskarshamn and Forsmark.

Sweden's hydro utilization is pretty much maximized without some massive new project where they flood massive new areas.
>>
>>109945534
No nuclear power was shut down, least of all for fucking wind. Oil plants only exist for backup power and are barely or not at all utilized. It was less than 1% of power production last year. Stop hallucinating worse than the clanker does.
>>
>>109945576
Ringhals reactor 1 and 2 have been taken offline and are in the process of decomissioning.
This happened more than 10 years ago.

The Karlshamn Power Plant existed before this and is obviously there for backup in case of emergency, the difference is that before Sweden started shutting down nuclear power plants and building a lot of wind turbines Karlshamn Power Plant was almost never used and now it's more or less used as a standard power plant during winter and has been for several years. That's not the supposed use case of emergency backup.
Furher why are you using y/y data for something which I stated is only having to be used during winter, also the numbers you should use should reflect what it replaced not total production or the data becomes meaningless.
The Karlshamn Power Plant is often used wintertime, burning loads of oil specifically because the base load from Ringhals 1-2 doesn't exist anymore.
Now Sweden is importing nuclear from Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant in Finland and burning oil in Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant instead of maintaining base load via Ringhals 1-2.

Why are you so blatantly lying?

>I didn't realize 2020 was 10 years ago, moron.
They decided to start decomissioning in 2015, you utter moron.

Do you realize anyone even glancing at the thread will see your pathetic attemps to gaslight as what they are?

So sick of this repeated nonsense. Trades are extremely cutthroat so it's not this easy guaranteed ticket to success that you people make it seem. Most people fail to do anything more than make pennies in trades.

It's goddamn difficult, especially when virtually nobody wants to learn how biology handles it. Robot control theory is dominated by blind fuckwits.
