I noticed that with wider adoption of LLMs we now have a lot of old games decompiled and open-sourced.But can the similar process also be used for liberating other proprietary software, for example Photoshop? How realistic is this, if we ignore all the legal aspect?
>>109936701It would take a lot of water
>>109936701its possible but a big project that isnt worth doing given pirated ps is already easy to get
>>109936701And most of the projects started before LLMs were capable of anything regarding code
>>109936727But it won't make it free (as in 'freedom').
>>109936701you can literally live disassemble any program you want if you know how to set it up nowadays, and build a MCP server to let SOTA models pick it apart and live read/write the memory regions.there is literally no point in paying for or not circumventing software licenses or use restrictions anymore lol
>>109936701It's not a decomp, but Seth Robinson (dink smallwood guy) made Patchy. Seems to work well, but I haven't done a large project in it yet.

>>109936701That's not legal and for a good reason.Reimplementing code in a correct manner would be, however "AI" assisted translation would retain the copyrights as it's a derivative work.
