debian+xfce ftw
I wish KDE would actually support it's custom theming ecosystem
>>109941085my emacs is configured to use rounded corners
>>109941113>round pictures have effects on your hormones no wonder you cut off your dick

I'm autistic enough to think emacs is super neat but I'm worried I'm not autistic enough to actually learn it well enough
I have round corners but in an XP/Vista kinda way.>>109941157samesies

>>109942713thanks but i'll stick with neovim
>>109942727ah, sorry, i thought i was talking to a human.
>>109942737cope, no one wants their text editor to also browse the web
>>109942742emacs is an operating system.
>>109942761and i just want to edit text, not run a second os
What the fuck is a hamburger menu you fatty can't think anything but food food food you fatass obese whale
>>109942782if that was true, you'd be using vi, not neovagina. every vi-clone with an extension language is just a shittier emacs.
>>109942795cope, emacs is so shit that people run vim (doom emacs) on it because the default text editor is crap
>>109942814>emacs is so shit that it can emulate my editor with more features?only vi-tards are particularly attached to their autistic keybindings. in emacs you can make them however you want. evil-mode is for people who acquired vi brain damage and their muscle memory doesn't let them use anything else. bill joy himself admitted if given another chance he would have made vi non-modal. i mean vi-keys are good to know just because they proliferated like a cancer across all unix, or you are using a shitty keyboard.
>>109942713yeah, I really should just do it. I think the thing holding me back is the fact that so many people change keybinds or functionality, so I'm not sure if I should just go vanilla, or with something like meow or whatever helix thing is the best. I don't know vim either so I wouldn't bother with evil mode, since I've heard that can be a bit messy interacting with other packages
>>109943044use vanilla for a bit. if it's too uncomfortable then use god-mode, which is just vanilla keys but modal.https://github.com/emacsorphanage/god-modeif you are using a regular desktop keyboard, you should be able to hit control with the side of your palm comfortably and alt with your thumbs ofc. most complaints about emacs pinky come from laptop users i reckon. but god-mode is good so you could use it anyway.
>>109943044>>109943133You vanilla for a while, but swap caps lock and control. Emacs pinky is no fuckin' joke.
>>109943289>if you are using a regular desktop keyboard, you should be able to hit control with the side of your palm comfortably and alt with your thumbs ofc.caps lock to control is retarded advice that is going to make your left pinky get rsi and is not how typing with modifer keys work. you use the modifer on the opposite side of the character you are typing unless you are a subhuman that doesn't have control/alt keys on both side of the keyboard.
>>109943331Using your pinky or the side of your palm to hit a modifier key is retarded. Caps lock is right there, occupying prime real estate. There's no reason not to switch them.
>>109943377>Using your pinky or the side of your palm to hit a modifier key is retarded.do you never use shift?there are modifers on both sides of the keyboard for a reason. caps lock is not designed to be a modifer key, and you are making your left hand do more than twice the work. it makes more sense to swap it to esc if you are using modal editors like vim.idk, are you stretching your hand to reach ctrl like a retard or are you letting your hand off of home row a bit. and you should be using the ctrl on the opposite side of the key you are modifying.my idea of a genuine improvement to emacs bindings is just switching all the ctrl bindings to use alt/meta and all the alt bindings to ctrl. the problem is that alt is easier to press on modern keyboards but its the secondary modifier instead of primary.
>>109944004>do you never use shiftI never use the left shift key, but even if I did, left shift is literally right next to your hand. It's within easy reach. Control is on the corner. You have to stretch and contort your left hand or take it off the keyboard in order to hit the damn thing.>there are modifers on both sides of the keyboard for a reason. You also have two hands, but I bet you only use one of them to write. You act like it's some anomaly that people favor one hand or the other for certain tasks.
>>109941085rounded corners, gradients, over iconing menus, centering, p a d d i n g on everything, Xbox huge min/max/close buttons trigger me. Flat is good though, not sure why people hate it when it removes gimmicky art shit on what is supposed to be a functional tool
>>109944361>You act like it's some anomaly that people favor one hand or the other for certain tasks. That's because you are use both hands to type you fucking gorilla nigger.
>>109942727>>109942737>nerds arguing over a spade vs flat shovels in an age where everyone has an excavator
>>109942727>Thanks, but I'll stick to my s()y-ridden pointless fork vibe coded by incompetent "programmers" like TJ DeVries neovagina, an editor being famous solely because bottom feeding cucks like the primagen shilled it on jewtube>>109944436nigger>>109943044Just use vanilla. Modal editing is a meme for redditors. Since you don't even know vim, there's no reason for you to use modal editing.Learn vanilla keybindings and the conventions used by vanilla emacs for key bindings (e.g. g to "refresh" something, C-x 4 for commands related to the "other window" etc). Once you learn these conventions, it will make everything else so much easier.Evil mode being messy with other packages is 100% true. You can install cope packages like evil-collection, which fixes evil for most popular packages, but it doesn't always work for all packages.Btw emacs is honestly not that hard to learn. You don't have to use it for everything at the beginning (like for reading mail, org mode, RSS feed etc). For instance, I was a long time vim user and I'd say I was using emacs comfortably after a little more than 1 week of regular use. I was as confident with emacs as with vim in a matter of 1 month. Do the tutorial, learn help keybindings like C-h f, C-h v and most importantly C-h m and C-h b and you are gmi.
>>109942742There are browser plugins for neovagina too you dumb nigger. Neovagina wants to be emacs so hard, but it can only manage to be an inferior copycat. At least have the decency of using vim instead of neovagina.
