Anything with a flat screen and anti-glare filter on it. I don't remember meeting a CRT I didn't like. Perhaps an old TV I used with my N64 wasn't so great compared to the TV my parents watched in the living room.
>>
>>109945336
I picked up a nice modern CRT for free that's in storage at my parents for retro gaming but to be honest I don't miss CRTs at all, I like the feeling of a nice flat panel, not having to adjust screen geometry and that feeling of watching the picture behind a glass panel. Early LCDs were trash and I waited until 2011 to buy one but a modern 1440p 144hz is way better than any CRT ever was

i picked up a 19" crt monitor from facebook marketplace just a couple days ago. i wouldn't use one as my main monitor since lcds are sharper and more comfortable to look at for long periods of time with static content, but for playing the occasional game on nothing beats a crt for me.
i picked it up the same day it was listed. the lady was surprised how much they were worth (i offered a pretty low amount and she agreed if i picked it up the same day).
i can't deny there's a nostalgia component to it. i grew up on crts and the majority of my time playing games was with crts, which includes all my childhood and teenage years. i didn't get an lcd monitor until i was 20, and only really because i moved and all you could buy then was lcd's.

>modern 1440p 144hz
lol i've run a crt monitor as old as 1996 at 160Hz

since i'm drunk and nobody else is posting, i'll add;
i brought my t400 to do some basic tests on the crt before i bought it (purity, convergence) since it has a vga output, and it actually kernel panicked as i was switching modes. first time i've ever seen the new systemd "bsod" despite having been implemented for 2.5 years. the lady said "that's an angry looking linux", which took me by surprise, considering i was picking this up from a house on farmland pretty far from anywhere and she was probably in her early 40s. maybe linux is more known than i imagined.

first time i've ever kernel panicked on the t400 as well and i've owned it over 10 years now. i suppose maintenance for the drivers for such hardware is getting a bit thin these days. i even had to switch to "mesa-amber" recently, a branch of mesa for practically unsupported video chips. not much life left in it as far as running up to date software goes it seems.

Strange, I did something similar using my T60 (ATI) 3 years ago and never had any problems.
Maybe she recognized Tux, but this reminds me of when Munich investigated their complaints about LiMux, only to find out they were actually using XP. Some people think anything that's not the current Windows = Linux.

It's Wednesday, so please take it easy with the drinking.
>>
>>109948798
she absolutely recognised tux, it's the only thing that could have been recognised. given the positioning of the laptop and monitor and how it was displayed, only the top left portion of the "bsod" was visible (on the crt, the laptop was facing away from her), so there was no hint it was linux outside of the ascii tux. unless she knew of the qrcode bsod, i suppose, we talked very briefly as i did my tests and she said she was surprised that crt monitors had become sought after. i'm not social at all so it's quite possible she knew more than i'd have picked up on.

>Some people think anything that's not the current Windows = Linux.
didn't consider that, but she didn't say a thing until the bsod happened. command line login and all

But you havent experienced true NF performance, how can you make a real judgement?
All of my same or worse on papers mitsus are superior to sony in practice, I dont see why this wouldnt apply to the F520 aswell
My 20X0U tubed Mitsubishis are all incredibly bright and sharper then my G500s, and my .28 dotpitch 91txm is ALOT sharper then my .25 dot pitch 500PS sony
Sony tubes just bloom earlier (thus rendering the entire point of having a tighter pitch in the first place useless)

its always been about that because in real usage the difference between a 21" Dynaflat, a 22" Diamondtron and a 21" Trinitron is nearly 0

Provide these measurements, along with the exact brightness the trinitron was calibrated too and the way you measured.
Not that I particularly care if the F520 is actually 5% better or what, but it would be really funny if it turns out its worse then a .24 NF Diamondtron in real world performance at 100 nits

looked up datasheets a while ago and my Belinea has a superior signal path and amplifiers vs any NF Mitsubishi, it was more expensive then the OEM mitsus too

Superior to Trinitron, superior to OEM Mitsubishi

I already told you all of this years ago, are you dumb? You can calculate the expected TVL with the Kell factor, typically taken to be about 0.7 for uniform AGs.
For GDM-F520:
388mm/0.22mm = ~1764 slits
1764 * 0.7 = ~1235 TVL

In practice 0.7 is bit conservative and I could round up to 1280x960, and remain entirely free of moire under any circumstances.

For 0.24mm tubes, kell factor predicts around 1131 TVL, which in an ideal scenario results in 1152x864 being the maximum moire-free resolution.

If you come to me and say your 0.24mm (or worse) tube can do 1280 TVL, I know you're lying because that would require kell of 0.8 which just isn't a thing with CRTs.

None of this matters if the tube cannot reach its potencial maximum.
The 91txm blooms later and has tighter focus, so it looks better then the sony 500ps despite the 500ps having .25 dotpitch vs 91txm .28
Your F520 at 100nits is gonna bloom out way before that theoretical limit thus rendering the tighter dot pitch meaningless in reality
And even in your math fantasy world that difference is tiny, and the mitsubishis extra brightness and better anti glare coating more then makes up for it
Sucessfully recapped the 91txm btw, finally its nice again

I also said I confirmed the tube can resolve at least 1280 TVL. I don't know how you expect me to prove that though, I don't ironically enough have a camera with high enough TVL to capture that (nor could you upload such a picture on 4chan). But I said all of this several years ago and even some other anon came to the same results (search the archives), so there's no reason for me be lying.

>>
>>109956942
You genuinely don't know what we're even talking about, do you?
A picture of a small section is not proof of TVL, it's so trivially easy to cheat that anyway. The whole display needs to display a 1px stripe pattern, resolve every single line clearly, and not produce any artifacts or non-uniformities anywhere on screen. The only way to prove that is to take a picture where the whole screen is visible, with a camera high resolution enough to give each horizontal line enough breathing room not to introduce camera artifacts. And then you need to display that picture on like at least a 4k display, maybe 8k, to avoid your fucking LCD from adding it's own moire.
It's just cannot be done.

not him but actually TVL refers to horizontal resolution, that is, the resolution of a line, not how many lines you can display separately.
basically it's how many discrete black/white VERTICAL lines you can display before they blur into grey

I am not pulling it out right now, or any time soon. The FE1250's leg is crumbling into fine dust, and is just barely standing on top of the plastic rubble. If I move it, I'd have to design and print a new leg if I want to use it again. And I don't have time for that.

>Those threads were a work of art, I tried to make them interesting to read, and the pictures enjoyable to look at
And then I came and took your attention away from you

You really should have just accepted me as the alpha male and contributed to my threads instead of starting drama, that way CRT threads would still exist atleast in some form

You think any of the screens the pole took are true?
That bro's just mad he lost an argument about anime and got jealous I found relationships. You seem to already know yourself how pathetic of a person he is.
If you absolutely want, I can elaborate more, but not here. It involves way too much personal information. Why I've been reluctant to address anything.
> you should never have been on public imageboards to begin with
Nigga you're a post-covid newshit. That's not how image boards ever worked. There was a culture you were supposed to learn and assimilate into. And you were relentlessly gatekept if you did not fit in. I was there in 2012.
But that culture is well and truly dead now, which is very regrettable.
It hurts knowing you newshits don't even know what you've missed, and are actively destroying.
