Those of us who are not afraid of new technologies, will literally be the new generation of artists... We will rule the landscape of media, entertainment, storytelling, what have you; exciting fucking times.

I am so looking forward to the next few years. God knows what will happen after that, but for now this is probably the best moment in history to be a proactive, creative person with a penchant for tech.

AI music genuinely is good, because all of the mainstream music from the past 10+ years is so autotuned and machine made that it sounds like AI to begin with.
Its really no great shock that its hard to tell AI music from real music when both contain the exact same amount of tinny robot slop.

Post 1(one) good sounding AI generated speedcode/j-core/breakcore song. I'm yet to hear any that doesn't sound like complete ass.
Everyone is making low effort, repetitive ambients, dnb, pop, but as soon as you ask AI to make any music where sound design actually plays the main role it shits itself and produces unlistenable slop.

>>
Transportna is the only AI artist that I find tolerable. And even then you can really tell it's AI and most of the song's structure is very inconsistent.
What I find weird about AI music is that it tries to generate the sound instead of generating the notes than have a something like a free music making software do the rest. I get that generating human voice saves a lot of time and effort, but generating instrument sound is still very wonky and I think AI music would benefit a lot from outsourcing the sound to free resources.

Actually Spotify is way ahead of them, they have the distribution channel

Spotify shoves me AI slop that is actually very listenable every day. I listen when I'm coding or doing some shit so not "actually" listening to music, it's just background elevator music.
That's good enough but I won't look AI bullshit on websites like suno, won't follow AI "artists", and when I want to actually listen to good music it won't be some AI slop it will be from local offline collection

I feel like "elevator music" ironically gets too much hate, its much better than modern stores that play nothing but the same playlist of pop songs. (Christmas is awful, there's like a million Christmas songs out there yet Walmart plays like 10 then repeats.) I've been listening to Exotica records by people like Martin Denny and Lea Baxter, this was the "slop" of the 50s yet there's some real artistry and you can tell they knew their stuff. It was meant for mass consumption by middle aged adults yet its not lazy or gimmicky like modern mass produced music.

That's not what is going to happen.
Spotify and all other audio streaming services are going to begin streaming audio at 8khz and then the end user app is going to take that stream and aigen the original audio back from it. It will be nearly indistinguishable from the source media and you will like it.
>>
>>109947044
It's a weird situation where the "real" music being compared to is top40 pop (10-30s midi loop with an autotuned "singer" "singing" someone else's lyrics about love, relationships, partying, or drugs), rap (10-30s midi loop or "sample" stolen from someone else's song with an autotuned rapper rapping about drugs, sex, and gang violence), and what slop passes for radio rock these days (either old 2000s and prior radio rock or a series of quarter notes with a fag vocalist and elements of pop music being inserted with the occasional djent breakdown). Garbage that aislop might actually be able to reproduce because it's so simplistic it could be played by a middle school band.
And yet aislop music can't do it without it being garbled and muddy and making the "vocalist" ramble on endlessly with wordy nonsense lyrics.
>>
>>109947990
soulless
>>
>>109948001
Yes, that's what mainstream music and aislop music are. The genres with soul that actually take talent to make could never be replaced with aislop, and aislop can't even replicate the soulless mainstream music accurately. That's the point. What point are you trying to make here? Are you just robotically emitting buzzwords?

Genuine question: are all these people shills and/or utter retards, or am I the only one who has noticed that AI has hit the wall about a year ago?

It's not going to get noticeably smarter than this, they're throwing 100k GPUs at it and barely making a noticeable difference. The diminishing returns hit hard about a year ago, and definitely slammed the brakes 6 months ago. Compare Opus 4.5 to 5.5: barely noticeable improvements in actual intelligence.

Which is why shit like Astra are now touting "LOOK THE AI CAN PRESS THIS BUTTON IN 30 SECONDS (that you could have pressed in 0.2)". They're widening their abilities, not deepening them, because the wall has been hit.
>>
>>109950830
Sorta, they have run out of traning data, the whole of surface web has been scraped and AI slop is starting to feed off of AI slop causing it to deteriorate. That's why absolute faggots like google and microslop are turning their android and windows ecosystems into data harvesting tools to get to peoples private information to feed into the training data. Same for discord, twitch and meta. What the public get access to is lobotomized though and not what they keep in their labs with their frontier models

Creatives have a talent, and they're not willing to use it for the betterment of their fellow man, not even for the betterment of themselves, but solely for base enrichment and a surrogate job so they can avoid having to labor the same ways as everyone else in order to survive. We didn't set you guys apart from normal society, you did, and the way artists and entertainers jealously guard their last few years of relevance from other people really just shows their true colors. As with everything at this point that technology does, when it lowers the barrier to entry, which seems like a positive, what actually happens is the domain becomes infested with slop, and no future quality artists are made because the endeavour is no longer worthwhile. So AI music is fine, I'm sure it sounds indistinguishable from other music, is going to be made by people who fucking suck at music, and 99% of the spotify playlist or whatever is going to be garbage (more so than usual anyway).

People don't want to prompt every movie they watch and come back in 2 hours after thousands of agents meticulously created their perfect movie... people's ideas are usually bad. They want skilled people making things for them based on their decisions.

Universal literacy is a comparable technology. In theory everyone could write anything about anything, and it resulted in an explosion of content and ideas. Some good, some disastrous, the vast majority long forgotten. Most people don't care to create even when the ability is right in front of them. In a way the "just pick up a pen" bros are correct - that's all anyone has ever had to do. All this technology does is eliminate the years of gruelling practice to get acceptable results, and that's what they hate. The loss of exclusivity at that level. But the end result will be the same, albeit with many different people creating instead of the current guilds who are already dead and just haven't accepted it yet.

Apparently not?
But for main stream “music”, it doesn’t really matter. If normie slop is made by Taylor Swift or Suno? Who cares, it’s slop.
The only issue I have with the whole thing:
Real music gets ever more expensive. Concerts and Albums are really quite expensive. Not too long ago, you could get some non-rare pressing OK-condition second hand vinyl for cheap but now even those are 20€+

A model is not conscious. It is not a human. It doesn’t “think”, nor does it “learn” in the traditional sense a human does. The neural network is ultimately just a glorified output predictor that can be described mathematically. It is essentially an algorithm. The human brain is not. Ascribing human values to an AI to justify blatantly violating copyright is just low, and if you unironically think this process is similar or holds merit then you should probably kill yourself because you are lower than an AI by your own reasoning.

>>109953694
If it’s made by AI it’s slop. There’s no such thing as “quality output”. Characterizing it as slop has nothing to do with its quality or lack thereof. Actual slop (fed to pigs) is full of nutritonal value and they love the taste. It’s still slop. The comparison is made because it’s a churned up paste of ideas lazily dumped into a trough for fast consumption, by people without effort or care. It’s slop by process, and the output quality will never change that.
>>
>>109954074
>A model is not conscious.

We don't know that.

>It is not a human.

Why should this matter?

>It doesn’t “think”

According to your arbitrary definition of thinking.

>nor does it “learn” in the traditional sense a human does

Even humans learn things differently from person to person.

The neural network is ultimately just a glorified output predictor that can be described mathematically.

Same goes for humans.

>It is essentially an algorithm.

Same goes for humans.

>Ascribing human values to an AI to justify blatantly violating copyright is just low

Why? Because it basically destroys the luddite case against AI?

>if you unironically think this process is similar or holds merit then you should probably kill yourself

It's not really a matter of what I think; people who are a fuckton smarter than both you and me are coming to these conclusions. Follow the science instead of throwing a tantrum like a boomer on Facebook.

If everything you said is true, then characterizing AI as “just a tool” is disingenuous. If it’s actually intelligent, then when AI makes music, you didn’t. The AI did. You don’t own it or have any control over it. The AI does. Because the AI is its creator, the intelligence which manifested it. You’re basically just a patron commissioning work.

>people who are a fuckton smarter than both you and me are coming to these conclusions
What? If you actually listened to the people who are “a fuckton smarter”, they would tell you what I’ve told you here. AI is not conscious. AI is algorithmic in nature. AI does not follow the neurological architecture of life, it is divergent and its own thing. AI does not “understand”. These are probability machines.
>>
>>109954122
>wake me up when a SINGLE of the above happens

AI is already used in the production of the majority of movies.

AI artists literally dominate the top lists since a generation or two back of gens.

AI has already replaced 99% of programmers.

AI has indeed brought us self driving cars; anti-AI lobbyists within the government keep imposing regulations so that we can't use them, even though they are statistically already much safer than human drivers.

AI is replacing a lot of manual labor already, and once we get proper embodied AI humanoids at scale, it will very quickly replace all manual labor.

AI might very well take us to Mars one day, but sure, I will give you that it hasn't already. How is that even an argument? AI has been around for a little less than *four fucking years*.

>AI will cure cancer

You might be thinking you're democratizing art, but you're only devaluing the efforts and sacrifices that went into creating previously made pieces.
This might work in the short term, but eventually no new truly organic art piece will be created because humans won't be able to compete for attention anymore and find justifiable to waste years of their life to acquire the necessary skills.
And AI models are predominantly trained on those organically-made human artworks.

Oh sure, they’d love to replace low-level programmers, no question. They’ll still need to keep a few, but far fewer. But the senior pipeline is fine. Nobody cares if you can’t write good code anymore. Nobody’s been able to write good code for ages. Half of all software is bloated garbage programmed with embedded chromium with javascript for its UI. Software is already in the toilet. They don’t care about long term quality decrease.

But they won’t eliminate “all white collar jobs”. Just the lowest level ones where they can. The hierarchy has to exist because they can’t eliminate ALL actual jobs, and without the promise of promotions, getting those jobs done becomes impossible. There is no future where the corporation is just the board of directors and a LLM slopbot. The nested layers of associate executive assistant vice president in charge of operations acquisitions and pipelines has to stay. In fact it mostly has to grow bigger.

Its just the softcore I like is hard to find. Like, asmr/joi type of/seductive, one cam always on face, other on body, orgasming, having fun with herself type of stuff I like.

Too many women start of right then sink into "eat your cum" "worship this or that".

How about no bitch.

You suck on this cock and worship this cock and please yourself for my enjoyment.

But the coom material I like is not being made, nor it will be made because its uncuckening unlike porn.

They have to make sure you get biden blasted with other dudes and angles in porn that make it seem like they are fucking above your head, all NLP/styling you into cuckery.

No thanks. My coom material is women begging to be fucked endlessly and orgasming upon eye contact with me.

Looking forward to local models and locally hosted AI waifus you can customize, memory is saved locally but "consciousness" streamed from a company (if at all needed because smaller models are even now good enough to pass Turing tests and they will improve).

Evolutionary pressure is almost entirely on human male and on the woman only to the degree she can carry kid for 9 months and milk for 1 year.

That's the issue with your kind, you are so deeply fashioned that you can't imagine any sort of experience without assuming your place within a hierarchy. You think that music and movies exist for you to get excited and pay something in some way, and you have been so dispositioned by the mainstream adoption of alternative optioning correlated to the use of internet exposure, that the past 15 years of your life has been an attempt to fashion others too your frantically collapsed mindset. Art, as an abstract definition, is a means of encoding information in a lossy fashion, and specifically information akin to thoughts, observations, or more loosely a collection of states if the brain at each discrete point in time functions as a finite state machine. Staring at a painting for hours means that there is a lot of perceived information that can be decoded and subsequently transformed to be interpreted.
Loosely related to the above, art under the above definition, cannot, by definition, be created by ai. Ai art such as >>109954545 has 0 information to decode

>>109954590
>In part because I like art, and in part to prove a point
What I'm trying to get you to understand is that art is not motivated by the desire for a pretty object to exist. It is a method of communication and expression. Slopping up an image doesn't do those things. It'd be like building a robot that can cook a meal for itself and then eat it. Cool, I guess, but what was the point? Why did you make it? If the machine circumvents all of the things about the creative process that make art valuable and meaningful, what is the point?

You generated this image. To do what with? To look at? Did you frame it on your wall? Is it your desktop background? You don't actually get much of anything from it, I'd wager. I imagine you don't really care about it. Why should you? It doesn't mean or represent anything. It has no real value. It's not especially interesting. In some abstract sense it "looks cool" but that's like the least relevant thing about art.

I got no skin but maybe foreskin in this game.

I use ai to learn basically. Sometimes create erotic/aesthetic material.

Simply defending the perspective because it makes sense.

Being human is a skill ultimately, enabled by human body and furthered by society and post natal care.

And AI is a learning machine. It can learn anything a human can. And eventually it will be able to express in ways humans do in ever refined ways.

It would be very simpletonistic to not see that.

And its a product of deeply ingrained idea "we are special because we are humans that God made"

But easily breaks if you think "universe is special because its God made, therefore everything in it is alive and special and Divine, differing only in ways it expresses it"

You wouldnt call a 3 yearolds drawing slop? Why? Ai can make same drawing in indistinguishable style.

Where is the line drawn? Does AI have to belong to abrahamic religion for yall to accept its creativity?

Creativity (except maybe Divine primal one) doesnt exist in vacuum without prior exposure (see what kind of language wild kids develop, its literally what they are exposed to). Its inspired and infulenced by your biology, place in Universe, beliefs, self beliefs, society you were born into, what you ate today, what you learned, entirety of stuff you were exposed to.

And somehow for human its automatically "oh he is creative and original artist"

But when AI does same process literally same, its "slop"

It makes zero sense.

then why recoil in fear at the mention of AI? I've seen slopper churn out some cool shit on X and I am convinced
>>
>>109954979
>then why recoil in fear at the mention of AI?
Because I'm annoyed that every public channel is flooded with this sewage, especially from people desperate to convince you that it's NOT AI because they know if you realize that you won't praise them. The only thing I'm afraid of his how much worse the experience gets for those of us who don't enjoy being bombarded with low effort garbage, which is all of us who aren't making it.

I am trying to explain to you, not convince you but simply explain to you, that nobody is interested in this shit you make. We don't want you to show it to us. We don't want to look at it. I'm trying to do this by demonstrating that even YOU don't want to look at it. You have a machine that, by your own explanation, can produce any image you want, but you don't want any of the images it produces. If YOU don't want it, why should we? Art is only valuable when it's an expression of human creativity and effort. That IS the point. When you remove those things, what's left is just a meaningless jpg. And it's exhausting having 99 out of every 100 jpgs be this meaningless noise because people like you are desperate to be recognized for your "talent".

Nobody would care if you kept it to yourself. But you can't. You don't want to consume it. You want to pretend you produced it. You want people to say

You are in it to take praise you haven't earned. And you are polluting every single public space with it.

NTA, but in my opinion it's not a matter of them having low quality. The mere existence of AI artwork generation is devaluing human artwork as a whole, even more so if it can produce images of quality previously only achievable by the top 1% of professional artists (or possibly even less than that).

So what? Why is this a gotcha? "You won't even be able to tell that there's dangerous levels of mercury in the fish" isn't a commentary on the quality of mercury-laden fish. It's garbage prima facie, it's garbage BECAUSE a person didn't make it. The only appeal of it being "harder to distinguish" is, as I said, that it makes it easier for you to larp as a creative and take praise you haven't earned.

What you want is for people to say "wow you are a talented artist I love what you created" without actually creating anything. You will tell any lie you need to tell to get that empty praise. Just because you manage to get away with the lie, that doesn't stop it from being a lie. You didn't make shit. You are not an artist.
>>
>>109955146
Most normies (art consumers) won't care. They see a semi-realistic, ultra-detailed painterly anime art piece and they'll love it until you tell them it's AI-generated. Then they'll pretend to be outraged.
How can an actual artist compete with that? 10+ years of practice and weeks for one finished piece down the drain.
>>

sloppers accomplish more than (You) when it comes to being an actual artist, no amonut of impotent rage is going to change that

>>109955220
>sloppers accomplish more than (You) when it comes to being an actual artist
sloppers accomplish nothing. They take an image that an algorithm generated and they upload it to the internet and say
>I made this
that isn't an accomplishment. Literally any fucking idiot can do that. Any person, right now, can go subscribe to whatever AI and shit out images all day until they run out of token allowance. That's not me saying that, that's YOU saying that. It "democratizes", right? It makes it "accessible to everyone". Anyone can make it, it takes no skill or talent whatsoever. That's what makes it "democratic".

It's also what makes it worthless.
>>
>>109955235

>>
>>109955235

I suspect the real value added by AI sloppers is looking at batches of slop results and picking the best one / continuing to regen until something acceptable comes out.
>>
>>109955301
It's not a "profound" achievement but it takes trial and error to find a group of words you can feed into the blind idiot machine to make it output something you like. At least that was my experience.
>>
>>109955220
you really don’t get it. there is no self expression in AI art. even if AI exceeds the technical capabilities of every artist on the planet, the guy drawing fucking stick figures is still more of an artist than the proompter. making art is a human activity. you delegating “self expression” to an AI is like an oxymoron
>>
>>109955387
If you look at slopping more like an music analogue of DJing and remixing and oh yes the best DJs all make their own music and usually have some trained background in classical music. Same will be true for AI artists, if you put an average 100 IQ normalnigger and give him a guitar he won't accomplish shit if he has no interest in music at all. Same principle applies applies here, I've actually been to Amsterdam and saw the Van Gogh museum, there was also exhibitions by Andy Warhol and Banksy at the time. Most normalniggers aren't proficient at art all, they only heard of Picasso, if you mention someone like Klimt or Zdzisław Beksińsk, they just go blank
>>
>>109955457
>Zdzisław Beksiński
I have a print of AC74 hung up on my wall. I can't do art for shit. I don't think Beksinksi is all that "out there"
>>
>>109955457
>an music analogue of DJing and remixing
Invalid analogy because proompters aren't working with a visual medium.
>>
>>109955508
the fuck are you even trying to say? Those guys make blip bloops in a DAW, they rarely bust out a keyboard
>>
>>109955521
>Those guys make blip bloops in a DAW
Yeah, but at least they're constructing an audible signal from audible primitives, using operations conceived of and understood in auditory terms, while being continuously guided by their ears. They're actually working with their medium.
>>
>>109955591
So the abstraction layer of a DAW and VST plugins somehow make it valid artistic endeavour, while using style LoRAs which are essentially like VSTs and the back and forth with the promt somehow isn't?
>>
>>109955618
Correct, because VSTs respond directly to human input, whilst AIs make their own input and replace human decision-making.
>>
>>109955618
>So the abstraction layer of a DAW and VST plugins
It's not abstracting over the auditory part of an auditory medium.

> LoRAs which are essentially like VSTs
You're either delusional or lying. Either way, the refutation to this is given in the post you just replied to: >>109955591
>>
>>109955635
The prompt is the human decision making. AI won't do shit on it's own
>>
>>109955650
>The prompt is the human decision making.
If you think your """decision-making""" is worth anything, put the statistical token slop you call your """prompt""" in a frame and call it art.
>>
>>109955618
It's a distinct artistic endeavor. Using a DAW and VST plugins doesn't detract from the skill required to compose or engineer audio. It does, of course, detract from the skill required to perform on a musical instrument. Nobody who uses a DAW to put together a song would say
>check out what a great pianist I am!
because they aren't. They never pretended to be. They don't think that their ability to program in notes somehow replaces the talent that a pianist has performing on a piano, or a guitarist has performing on a guitar, etc. It still takes a lot of skill to be a good composer and audio engineer, even if you remove the skill required to perform on an instrument.

So then we have something like Suno. What skill does that take? Typing in a prompt? That's the only skill on display. I'm not impressed by that.
>Hey guys check out how good I can type in a prompt
nobody really cares, anyone can do that, it's zero-effort. So nobody is impressed by the output.
>>
>>109955650
The prompt is just like choosing a radio station. The decisions about what sound to craft, what notes to play, and what drums to put down are still coming from somewhere and they're not coming from you.

Value is a meaningless buzzword
>>
>>109956675
Pretty useful imo, you can alter the prompt and play around with it or regen if there are defects if you can't be arsed to dick around with inpainting
>>
>>109956818
>dick around
that "dick around" is doing a lot of work
for one, you need a lot of musical experience, taste, talent, whatever you want to call it to even be capable of dicking around
and second, if you listen to musicians (and other artists) they will often talk about how they don't really understand how they got their ideas, how something just sort of happened, sometimes it comes to them in a literal dream. but they're operating on a base level that's far above an average human being. they have a library of sounds they can pull from. they play a sequence of chords and they know what kind of chord, what voicing, what weird alteration is going to make it sound good instinctively
dicking around with ai is like asking a bunch of turd worlders to make you some art on fiverr and then picking your favorite, asking for changes, and then claiming you made it
if we're very generous we can call you an art director. which is fine. but fuck off, that's nothing even close to making art. and it's clearly not what you want to believe you're doing

i don't think that's the problem, it's just that it gets spammed everywhere where people just assumed everything was human made. it's obviously money, that's the reason youtube and other platforms haven't made an special section to separate it. the middle class and below gets the bill while the higher ups are the first to run away with the money like coward little bitches (always been in the history of mankind, it's just up to you to decide to either be an a-hole in your only chance at existing or not). but except now, ai it's starting to bother even people that were relatively high.

I do hate how its spammed everywhere. it would be one thing if it was kept to AI only sites and such. but AI people are just downright deliberate in pushing that shit everywhere they can, Deviantart, boorus, everything is getting ruined by that shit.

Lolhow? We're all flying blind here. Even the researchers developing their frontier models don't have any ideas that weren't ripped from 60s-80s sci fi novels and movies.

what's funny it's that these people have a lot of resources and even without them they just don't use the brain (which is free and doesn't require tokens)

Pretty sure you can go for days on coke, drinking constantly and have enough energy to do all day recording sessions. With weed to help you comedown.
