Is brewing coffee a technology?
Espresso machine > moka pot > french press > Aeropress > Cold Brew > Pour over > Percolator > drip machine
>>109949944No.
>>109949944Yea
>>109949970bet you drink monster
Do you get heart palpitations from caffeine ?
>>109949944No it's an activity
>>109950035espresso machines are pretty complex technology
>>109949944manual espresso machines and grinders are technology, the all-in-one office machines sold in the EU and the even worse semi-automatic all-in-one abominations sold in the US that cost just as much but still make you do the work of emptying the portafilter and steam your own milk are not tech, they are personality accessoriesbtw, all these machines fall into a category of lifestyle accessory that requires a lot of maintenance and trial and error to use correctly so they frequently end up in thrift stores for like $10-20 instead of the $300+ prices they usually go for, only retards spend more than $100 on their entire espresso making setup including the grinder.
let me guess, you need more?
>>109950387this stuff is nice, but its expensive and doesn't taste as goodI have picture related2.5lbs of coffee beans in Costco is $18.79 if you go in person2.5 lbs of coffee will be like a month of extracted espressos.Nescafe instant 0.875 lbs is $15 at Costco in person, pretty massive container, but it goes much faster, taste isn't as good, i was able to dial my settings to copy starbucks 1:1, even tested it side by side, same 10ml of extract per shot, same thickness etc.machine was like $750 ive had it for like 4 years now, if i go into settings there will be thousands of extractions, once a week maintenance to wash it, it washes itself between extractions, so just press a button and boom fresh espresso came out
Yes, but usually it's discussed more here: >>>/ck/ctg
>>109949966Espresso > pour over > cezve > aeropress > moka > French press
>>109949966moka is peak for strength. at least for me. I also have an old espresso machine and dunno, I'm going for the moka always.with moka you can also tweak things a bit. pour already boiling water into it, and quickly put it on fire, use cold ground coffee. the flash boil makes for more flavor.also watch the liquid coming out, and stop it about mid way before gargling. maybe even a third of the way, right around where the thickest coffee comes out.now that shit...that's hardcore heavy stuff. going to fuck with your heart pulse, so maybe take care if you have heart issues. that shit is a solid punch, like legit peak strength. also going to burn your throat a bit
>>109949944let me guess >you need more
>>109950661they're elitist as fuck, even more so than redditevery time I post on there, they just reply with "grim"
>>109950850I got a budget burr grinder for my second hand espresso machine and it's made a huge difference to actually be able to lock in a proper grind. Sucks you waste a few shots before figuring out what's right. One of the best coffee upgrade you can really do is fresher brewed beans you grind yourself
>>109950387This but packet in individual sachets so that it does not change taste over time.
for me it's the humble bripe
>>109950387Is instant coffee actually good or a meme? How's it compare to real espresso?
>>109949966all of those suck. espresso machines always suck unless you buy a commercial model.drip is king.
>>109951160it's all about your coffee grind, the espresso machine is the least important part of your setup, if your grinder is shit and can't produce consistently sized grinds fine enough to clog the machine, it leads to under/overextraction and shit-tier shots.Everything else is secondary, even the freshness of your beans.
>>109951299fresher beans grind better though
>>109951160>>109951299see>>109950448i went to starbucks when i bought my machine, asked for double espresso, brought it home, measured it was exactly 20mlon my machine that meant lowest water amount settingthen i needed to know thickness, to match that of starbucks, on my machine that means maxed out setting for how much coffeeI even brought a bag of starbucks espresso beans and was comparing them side by side, it was indistinguishable, their maestro 2 made same coffee. Out of curiosity i took 2 of the left over coffee pucks and boiled them in water to see if they would release more coffee -- they did not, extraction was extremely good with the maximal grind setting you set inside the coffee bean copperJust last week i took my friend for a drive and offered to bring her my coffee instead of getting starbucks, she went "wow this is good" and kept sipping it for the 2 hours we were out
>>109950387actually based>>109951150instant generally uses some robusta which is crap, nescafe gold is kino>>109951354sbux is the LAST place you should look for good spro, you should be watching lance hedrick
>>109949944yes but you'll probably have better luck discussing it in /ck/also >>109949966 is a fag
>>109951150Coffee, Instant, Type 2 is a delicacy
>>109951354the starbucks blonde roast is really good if you learn not to overextract.I aim for 25-30 seconds on my espresso machine for about 36 grams of extraction out with 18g of freshly ground beans. I'm not sure if that's the best and I have to use a grams scale and a stopwatch on my phone to get it how I want, granted i'm using a pretty shitty older machine that I got for free.
>>109951376>blondedon't call it that, it's dark. sbux dark is le burnt.
>>109951380what i've been using
>>109949944>Is brewing coffee a technology?yes, and it was solved by the plastic v60.
>>109951405meh. please try to check expiration dates on those store bags, anything over 2 weeks for a small roaster is out the window and anything over a month for nitro-sealed bags like sbux is expired too. fun fact, nitro goes bad faster once it's opened. i have experience brewing these guys' shit but i'm only aeropresshttps://enjoylunacoffee.com/collections/coffees
>>109951371nice
>>109951376>>109951405light coffee is acidic as fuck, i only get darkest roasts, it tastes sweeter, its what starbucks uses, it smells fantasticyuck
>>109951463lights are "acidic" in a gross way if you do them wrong. super easy to do it wrong. i have ssp mp 64mm in my fellow ode and one click on the grind dial can be the difference between golden and shite.
>>109949944You should not be drinking coffee. It ruins your sleep and reduces cerebral blood flow by 30%.
>>109951493>t ruins your sleep and reduces cerebral blood flow by 30%.not true
The only real way to brew coffee is how they do it muslim countries. It's so concentrated it will instantly wake you up and oddly enough very sweet to the taste.
>>109951463sure you're not over extracting your lights? I get a nice nutty taste
Let me guess: you """""""""""need""""""""""" more.
>>109951526i've been lucky enough to have west bank arab coffee with cardamom, anon. holy fuck. i've brewed a lot of aeropress, the finest anaerobics, and the qahwa hawaij in a cezve is on par.
>>109951459should I just find a local store that roasts their own coffee and get it days old or something? I got fresh roast once from a coffee shop but they're far from me. I'd have to look into local places I live a bit out of the way from civilization which is why I order most things online.
>>109951864>should I just find a local store that roasts their own coffee and get it days old or something?fucking yes, but roaster quality varies, maybe dig around for a third wave in your area who ships cheap. i have an ethiopian farm roaster right down the street from me but i'm lucky as shit.
>>109951150Some instant coffee is REALLY GOOD. It just depends on the brand.
Also is this guy's tips about french presses legit? Pour the coffee through the grinds instead of pressing it?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st571DYYTR8
>>109949992Meth is superior
>>109952031absolutely. percolation is NOT critical for ideal diffusion of bean solubles, all you need is the right temp and time and you get a better brew from not disturbing your grounds. any agitation shakes off bitter molecules that bind to the outside of the grounds.
>>109952025>instant coffeesounds like cancer
