Why sokoban?
>>
>>109955061
Cause moving boxes in a 1980s Japanese warehouse is fun
>>
>>109955172
It was never fun, even in the 80s it was a 5 minutes curiosity despite not having anything else to play.

there's a running joke about programming language design that whoever starts working on a new programming language and gets really deep into it ultimately ends up reinventing lisp. and then they go back and try to design a language they actually want to use. or they just give up. they mostly just give up
lisp isn't necessarily the best programming language, but it's simple, straightforward, consistent, a lot of features the sort of autist who wants to design a language in the first place gravitates to
I wonder if the same is true with game design and sokoban
grid movement, discreet puzzle boards, simple mechanic base that can be built over with increasingly interesting mechanics
I don't know, I never thought too much about game design beyond "it would be cool to mix game A with game B"

>best regards, born-twenty-years-later anon

I just wanted to make a thread about this guy

>Talented, lucid, disciplined min
>Enjoys dancing and martial arts to keep fit (or he did when he was a bit younger)
>Wastes his talents on bing bing wahoos

WHY
>>
>>109955815
>(or he did when he was a bit younger)
judging by the latest documentary of his trip to china to release the new game, I would say he gave up on keeping fit a while back
a lot of men do when they lose their hair. why bother
>>
>>109955815
You got a crush on him or something?
>>
>>109956041
That's not the kind of relationship people seek in him.
Tech-leaning young men with weak fathers see him as their surrogate daddy because of his strong opinions.
>>
>>109955061
The actual reason is that it was meant to be a simple game to push out quickly
*10 years later*
>>
>>109956432
it's really amazing how fucked up society has always been because fathers refuse to parent their sons
>>
>>109956501
yeah. he said as much, essentially
graphically, his art team kept asking for more advanced tech
and he just let the game explode mechanically because he thought it would be cool, why not. apparently there's something big that requires combining a fuck ton of puzzles and I'm very curious about it, but it may be a marketing gimmick. I'll take a look one of these days
anyway, all my personal projects follow the same path. except I never finish them
>>
>>109956710
some fathers want to parent their sons but are just bad at it.
>>
>>109955061
Because that nigga doesnt understand the idea of "fun" in videogames. He only makes games with pure labrat logic puzzles
>>
>>109955815
>>Wastes his talents on bing bing wahoos
As opposed to what?
Another niche OS that 10 people will pretend to use?
Another inane C++ "replacement" lang that 20 people will use to make a raylib hello world?
Working as senior programmer #1949320 at a random robotics company that will eventually sell to the DoD / DoE if they're lucky?
Wasting his time at a Musk startup that will go nowhere 5 years in?
>>
>>109958485
>Another inane C++ "replacement" lang that 20 people will use to make a raylib hello world?
He is literally doing this
>>
>>109958497
... that's the joke dummy
