I've had a Logitech G610 for almost 10 years, and it's now starting to shit the bedI'm in South America and need something cheap but 100% to replace it with, what do we think about the Aula F108 Pro? Apparently it's a decent budget alternative, though I saw some people recommending the non-Pro version cause the wheel/screen is kinda shit I unfortunately need something 100% because I use the numpad a lot
>>109957125If you have limited choices I'm sure the aula is fine.
holy fucking deadwell, if anyone is versed in VIAthe chineses finally release something good with VIA, but I'd like someone else to confirm that these MO(n) buttons can be completely remapped with regular buttons/functions
>>109960432Yes, you can remap.
Best 75% under 80 bucks? Looking for thock, going to use it for typing. So far I've tried the iLoveBee B75, and while the keys sound nice, the space bar is gratingly loud.
>>109961298Bandaid mod the spacebar stabs and replace the switch with a silenced one.
i was asking for a quet keyboard recommendation and got a lot of shitty answers and i would like to revisit this thread to say that the answer is actually these tiny libertarian cock rings that you put on the key caps its actually remarkable
>>109961481people used to do little foam pieces too. i preferred the foam dampeners because they are thinner. the really short travel with O rings i didnt like.
>>109961481these make it mushy as fuck and your keycaps don't stay on snug with the cock ring between it and the switch stemjust get a Topre and hand lube itor an HE board with the Whisper switches
>>109961298>>109961336don't forget to use a good set of stabilizers in the first placeadaptive v3s or fourwraps, either is S tier right now
holy fuck, someone greenlit reruns of Hyperfuse and Solarized Dark
>>109961481>cockring for keycaps
fuck yes
>>109956993oh hey i own one of thoses. the alps switches are really nice, but all their keyboards have insane firmware that makes them a pain to work with.
>>109962271>>109962275Both have shit kitting.
>here's your TOTL TKL bro
>here's your long and thin force break foam strips>no we CBA with force break dot pads like the Glare
>I'm totally enjoying my plate, 10/10 ggs Nuxros
>just a little QC oopsie, contact your vendor
>just contact your vendor bro
>it's just your bad luck bro>don't lay it on my design or QC process>Nuxros cares, okay?
>>109963028it's 2026a revival just exceeds expectations
Mx Blacks
I just had a dream about MX Brownsfeels like a divine interventionI NEED bwowunz
>>109961481there are many good silent switches these days that don't compromise on key feel. O rings are a meme
>>109961674foam pieces? the cock rings don't seem to reduce the travel that much but also the tolerances for either the cocks or the rings seems to be pretty wide as the sound varies somewhat between the keys>>109962235don't notice them being mishy but browns are mushy already and it's better than having coworkers come ober to my desk and shit in my mouth>>109966259im still interested in a silent TKL keyboard with usb on the left side as stated previously because that does seem better
all you need is a $20 Logitech membrane board
Glare TKL
>Transition
>>109968051i don't know which bing bong religion this keyboard is designed for but its not the american english one
>>109963110so is it just some people having issues or the 84 in general came out shitty?
>>109956993Can someone explain the whole ortho thing to me? Is it really easier to type without staggered letters? Why is it never an option outside of custom boards?
>>109957125People shit on red dragon but I tried this board and it was really nice for the price. Didn't feel cheap and the keys had a really nice creamy feel. Also you get a sexy anime girl. Might be worth a shot.
>>109961481>>109961674>>109962235Did silent switches get memory holed? Why is a keyboard not making sound suddenly this difficult mystery to solve?
>>109968749non-split otholinear is the most horrible unergomonic piece of shit layout in existence. columnar stagger split is cool but takes learning effort
I am in joes house right now performing Intel from his bedroomHe said during pillow talk (code for intelligence gathering) that my keyboard will ship soon(tm) and then he kissed me good night
>>109969185If it makes you feel better I'm still waiting on the switches I ordered in August. Supposedly they will ship in a week. Supposedly.
>>109969204Yeah luckily I barely use my computer right now so I'm just waiting on my new toy to arrive but I don't like having stuff I'm waiting for too long takes up brain space and then I worry it's gonna arrive broken
Should I?
>>109970072Knobs are for slobs. Hard pass.
>>109970080I don't mind nobs desu. But I do mind being charged an extra $20 for shipping and taxes, so it's definitely a pass. I might just buy some keycaps for the one I currently own instead
>>109970116Can never go wrong with a new set of keycaps, it's like painting your car or house. Really freshens up the whole thing.
>>109968629the formerit's solid.
>>109968821it's solved, anonlook up the wekt lucy r5 silent linearsor the ttc bluish white v2 silent tactiles
>>109970116Will knobs help you post bimbos on gif? If so you should go for it.
Been using a SideWinder X4 (rubber dome) for, well, too long haha. I ordered an EPOMAKER X AULA EA75 Max w/ LEOBOG Silent Cotton Candy switches for €27 since it was on sale. Did I do OK? The software looks serviceable and I don't care much about the lack of QMK since I'm the sort of set-it-once-and-forget-it guy.
>>109971953it's based
rubber dome
>>109966259>don't compromise on key feelI guess when it's atrocious to begin with it's easy to keep it about the same.
>>109972972lol, you speak like you're from 2015silent switches are simply not a problem anymore, they don't compromise on key feel at alljust try out a few sample switches from milktooth, don't take anyone's word for it
>>109972874Some day I will be a Topre guy, but not today.
>>109973627>sample switches from milktoothWhere? I've looked all over the site and don't find any option for samples.
>>109974238check Unikeys, then
>>109968810>Didn't feel cheapIt looks like it belongs in a landfill
I've been using my 96% too long and now I can't go back to any board without an f-row. Oops.
>>10997503475% has an F row silly.
>>10997504175% is the ugliest layout every conceived and it also doesn't have a numpad. No chance.
>>109975070Fine but you're the one moving the goalposts.
>>109975075I don't know what you think I was saying or why you felt it needed a response about 75% boards.
>>109975088You bitched that you use a huge board and can't use anything else because of muh F keys and then when called out on it you fall back to the numpad. How is it "the ugliest layout ever conceived"?
>>109975132>You bitched that you use a huge board and can't use anything elseNo, I didn't.I bitched that I use a 96% and can't go back to boards without an f-row. Sounds similar, but it's actually a different post. Those boards without f-rows include three boards I own and formerly enjoyed. I am sorry you hallucinated some shit between the lines, but that's not really my problem."Moving the goalposts"... lmfao.
>>109975034>>109975070you never said anything about numpadsthat's a separate goalpost from an F row
>>109975190>leddit spacing Everything makes sense now, have fun jerking off your numpad schizo.
I finally found a c64 cheapWish me luck on the usb mod
>>109975229Neat but why only odd numbered F keys?
>>109975205Reddit spacing is a 2017 meme from /pol/, not a real working heuristic. You have to be a newfag to think it's a sign someone is "not from here". (And yes, if you are from 2017 or later, you are a newfag)Use any 4chan archive to look at posts pre-2017 and you will find that it used to be a very common style on 4chan, nobody ever thought it looked out of place. It also didn't originate with markdown, you can see plenty of double-newline spacing in old usenet discussions etc. where it was just plain text.Shit, you can see double newline spacing in typewritten material from long before computers. Thinking it originates from Reddit is an idea so fucking stupid only /pol/ could have come up with it
Looks like I hit the nail on the head.
>>109975248It uses shift as a mod key for the even f keys, its to "save space"
>>109973627https://www.rtings.com/keyboard-switch/reviews/ttc/silent-bluish-white-v2Absolute fucking disaster of a force curve, but you clearly didn't understand what I was saying because this is basically all Cherry MX compatible switches. They're temporarily embarrassed linear switches, making them legitimately horrible to type on. Tactility bordering on zero.
>>109975297What does it feel like typing? Oldest keyboard I ever used was my dads old Compaq. I honestly can't remember what it felt like.
>>109975278Every poster who does this "reply without quoting" technique thinks he is Jim from the Office, turning to the camera to make a face for the audience. No, it's just us, and the approving audience in your imagination cannot come to rescue you from my facts and logic.
>>109975299But don't worry, there is one hope amongst the endless heap of schlock. It's just not anything even approaching quiet.
>>109975324>facts and logicYou need to go back, this is getting embarrassing.
>>109975259It's just illiterate mongoloids harping on what is essentially a paragraph structure, dunno how they expect people to read a whole ass block of text without the whitespace helping you to focus. Also reddit spacingLmao
>>109975314The keycaps feel great. But the key press is deff mediocre. Its super linear and springy. But its neat to type on because of the sound, the big hollow case gives it good acoustics. It kinda sounds like a type writer
>>109975386>the big hollow case gives it good acousticsI've always been curious about this, often times I see people say that you should fill your case up with various foams and whatever else and that's supposed to make it sound better. But I've also seen others say that a big empty case actually sounds better. Is it all just preference or what is the theory behind it? I've only gotten simple pre build boards that just have a handful of various foams stuck to the plate, would it sound better if I removed those?
>>109975402Pretty much just preference, a pot of the super-tight and foam-filled boards you can now buy as prebuilts are made to appeal to keyboard Youtubers who don't type on anything but linears and also stuff their cases with as much material as possibleMy favorite keyboards for sound are the 8bitdo keyboards (big plastic hollow cases) and the Model F Labs beamspring keyboards (enormous hollow case, typing mechanism is cloned from IBM Selectric typewriters)
>>109975229FUCK yeahgive those keycaps a good cleaning too
>>109975229And get some isopropyl and a cloth to rub that dirty grime off the case
>>109975299the free market says it's good, fuck these charts and give it a spin on your board for realdon't forget to try some Lichicx silent tactiles and whatever HMX makes these days
>>109975510It's a matter of how they function. IBM had coil springs that buckled under pressure. ALPS had leaf springs that let go of the slider. Unless there's a hefty spring in there that very suddenly transitions to providing effectively zero force against the press it's basically just a linear switch, and that's not worth the plastic it's made out of. Cherry switches got popular because the free market decided that cheap was king, and they were the only ones who stupidly held on during the years of the rubber dome.
>>109975229nice sound cards
Is there any room for new revolutionary tech in the mechanical keyboard hobby? Where could we even go from what we already have? Some sort of glove force feedback tech that lets us get a customized feeling from a stock board?
>>109957125Haven't used the 100% version, but I recently bought Aula f75 (regular, without the screen), and I'm genuinely surprised by the quality:price ratio. It's also cheaper than my previous wired-only Keychron.
>>109975402Foams are like... compensation for plastic cases and poorly machined aluminum ones.
>>109975602But the other anon said he liked a big plastic case. Is there something inherently wrong with plastic?
>>109975608>Is there something inherently wrong with plastic?nta, but no: plastic vs metal for keyboards is a pure feel/aesthetics thing since keyboards are extremely simple electronics that don't benefit from a sturdy metal case.
>>109975608it different for 8bitdo or a c64 because the point is to sound like a big plastic case people who put foam in their AULA70 are trying to make it sound better. While people who put foam in their NEO98 are just following some weird trend for reasons they do not understand
FEEL IT
>>109975594I'm sure someone's gonna spam switch mods designed by AI and printed on top tier machines with different resins and whatnot>>109975602not always, look at HE boards. They need foam to sound better.
