Because the performance of it out of the box is terrible and all the mirrors I've ever tried are slower than my grandma.

I could see the appeal for servers but even then I use Free/Hardened BSD because that's what most VPS providers that even offer BSD at all have and because, honestly speaking, I find running shit inside a BSD jail more secure than running anything baremetal on OpenBSD.
