your probably use to that sound signature, and anything that most people will say is better is because they don't sound like the dt 770 which isn't liked that much by hifi audiophiles in general
the clearest direct upgrade is a pair of closed back aeon rt's, or used drop aeons, aeon flow closed, but thats a step up price wise
your other options in that price range of the dt 770 would be the akg a990z which is wider sounding, but also pretty bassy, akg k731, m40x,m50x which i would probably avoid both for comfort reasons, or gamble on the chinkshit low end planars which is the worst option of all because they won't last 2 years let alone 10

if you don't mind open backs then it's a different discussion entirely

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to answer my question, anon, I appreciate it.
>Aeons
Yeah, they're waaaay too expensive for my liking.
>a990z
Costs double as much as the dt 770 so that's also a tad bit too much.
>k731, m40x,m50x
>avoid both for comfort reasons
Yeah, I looked them up and they do, indeed, not look very comfortable. Saw posts online also saying the dt 770s are more comfortable which is very important.
>gamble on the chinkshit
Yeah, I would prefer to avoid that for the reason you listed lmao
>open backs
Yeah, no, they gotta be closed so that's not an option I'm afraid.

>you're probably used to that sound signature
Yeah, I've had zero complaints about the sound quality and enjoyed them for 10 years. They've also been comfortable to wear for many hours in a row. Honestly seems like there's no particular reason to gamble on anything else when I've enjoyed these for a decade. Why not just go with the devil you know? €145 for another high quality pair seems reasonable.

Although I did have 2 follow up questions, which you may or may not be able to answer. What do you think/know about the newer DT 770 Pro X? Reading about it online seems to suggest that it's slightly better but not necessarily worth the €45 over the original. Detachable cord seems nice tho. Also people are recommending the Fiio FT1 as an alternative/better 770, you have any takes on it?
>>
>>109961015
fiio is basically the worst brand there is for chinkshit garbage in headphone audio, both the ft1 and ft1 pro had nothing but problems, given the planar version was probably worse because the drivers were all falling off, the casing was disintegrating, and having the drinkers crinkle and do other trash. In general chifi is a gamble and usually ends up being more expensive in general, they quite literally have no quality control in anything they do. But even the normal non planar had the same issues with no qc, drivers falling off and wood cracking
>dt 770 pro x
detachable cable alone might make it worth it, but for personal experience on both i've only ever owned the 770 pro model, but your probably fine with either if you got a decade without a cable issue, but can't really go wrong with having the option to just plug a new cable in as opposed to soldering one

I know its cheap chinkware, but shit gets worse with each passing year

what are some good cheap BT/wireless dongle headphones

>fiio
Hmm, weird that it's so highly recommended on reddit then if it's known to have that many issues. I was already leaning on sticking with Beyerdynamic but this basically solidifies it.
>detachable cable alone
I only use it on my PC and never plug it into anything else so the cable hasn't been suffering much wear I think. The problem with my current Beyerdynamics is that the sound has died on the right side (although it periodically comes back for a few minutes before dying again) and I've tried twisting the cable around various points when the sound isn't there to see if it comes back (I remember that working with various old phone headphones when they broke) but nothing changes, so I'm guessing it's not a cable issue.

While doing some research I've stumbled upon the 700 Pro X which seems to be almost identical to the 770 Pro X (which ofc is extremely similar to the original 770 Pro) but it's more balanced/flat without the higher treble. It only costs ~€25 more than the 770 Pro X version. So that's something I'll need to research a bit more before making my purchase.

Speaking of treble (which is a new word I just learned today), there are people that apparently hate the 770 because of its higher treble and find it hurting their ears. I've personally never noticed or been bothered by it so I guess I'm one of those that's fine with it.

Holy fuck these headpos posters are so fucking retarded.

some people are really treble sensitive, some aren't or just don't listen to treble rape music like EDM or whatever zoomercore trash is out there
most people who just listen to classical don't care about headphones being more treble heavy but people refuse to admit for the most part everything is preference based
>reddit
that website is always just so bad with filtering out trash products because 5 chinese guys can shill any product they want with no pushback because it's mostly retards over there. I mean some how people still buy/rec hifiman after a decade of them making failing products constantly
