I am guessing like 300 people.
>>109980781It depends I guess, we don't know how many lurkers are and trust me lurkers really outnumber, and from what I see it's usually the same people that post argue and ect but probably around in the hundreds as you said on average
10-20 people normally. 3 people made most of the posts though.

I am here and while we're at it, which git service is /g/ using?I am torn between github and gitlab, I am not able to self host nor want I codeberg
>>109980781By my measurements a little less than that are typically active in any given popular thread.
>>109981348>which git service is /g/ using? My own, on my personal server, over sftp. I have a shell script that uses inotifywait to generate a static HTML preview of the readme, tree view of the head of master, and commit list. I accept patches (via git format-patch) over email (which have been sent to me and merged.)You don't need a "git service." You don't even need any extra software at all unless you want anonymous cloning and an HTML preview and for *that* you don't need a "service," you just need a cronjob or inotifywait script like mine to copy things to /var/www.
Based on the number of posts and the speed of the board compared to other imageboards I have used, I would guess around 100 people. A couple of the regulars are immediately recognisable, but mostly we don't know each other. An imageboard I use that is so obscure it doesn't even have a domain has 3-4 posters, and around 75% of those don't post at all on any given day. Some other imageboards that I have seen links to here probably have around ten posters, and they get 4-5 posts per day. The deceased GOAT, britfa.gs, had about 30-40 because it had a tool that counted recent visitors, and that was slower than /g/ but it could get fast if a few people were arguing in one thread. Boards accelerate exponentially with more posters, so I would guess /g/ is fast enough that maybe 100-150 people are here in total, but many of them will be lurking.
>>109980938Your ratio is probably close, but i doubt more than 10 people post here total. 50-60 on 4chan wide.
>>109980781Not as many as there used to be :(I can also tell at least a fifth of the active users are trannies, which repel newfags.
>>109981561I think there are only a couple of trannies/gays here these days. Most have left. /soc/ seems to be the gay board now.
>>109980934>>109980857>>109981533grim>>109981121captchas are quite easy imo>>109980809I am mostly a lurker as well. I should start posting more.
>>109981574i am heteroflexible. do i coun't as "gay"?
>>109981607You count as fucking repulsive.
>>109980781It's always way more than you think because not everyone posts. A slow image board I use that feels like maybe five people tops use it (down to like one or two posts a day now), but when I post a link to something it gets 30+ downloads.A lot of people simply won't engage with the topic for whatever reason and just enjoy reading the nonsense or drama that gets posted.
>>109980781With the IP counter gone there's no way of knowing if half of the threads you see are made by the same mentally ill sperg samefagging in all of them. I think it's less than 100, but outside the generals it could be way less.

>>109981814I bet there are more on /pol/ when I look how fast a thread gets replies
>>109981710How many times do you post in each thread? I doubt you are more than 1% of all the posts on /g/ at any given time, and therefore I doubt the total number is less than 100.
I've been using this board for almost 10 years, I can say with a high degree of certainty that there is no more than 150 people here. The rest is Indians, bots and tourists.
>>109982401>election tourist calling anyone else tourists

>>109980781Minus bots? Unironically less than 30 regular posters. If you spend any amount of time here (excluding generals) you'll quickly realize you're just talking to the same people over and over just by the writing style.
>>1099807812
>>109980938This but unironically.
About 200 frequent posters and 300 rare posters.
Actually can't believe how endangered we've become holy shit. We need to secure a future for /g/ children
>>109984317If we're starting to larp you do realize /g/ would be the equivalent of a black, transsexual Jew with downs right? The future for /g/'s children would be T4 our Dachau and rightfully so.
>>109984317I knew it was over when rizon died
Judging by the amount of generals and day in and day out repeat threads, I'm led to believe far fewer. Less than 60 per board. Reminder iOS count was removed because it showed about 10 per thread.
>>109980781about three fiddyyou were not far off id say
>>109984346IP count what the fuck is my gay phone posting phone doing. Android BTW.

>>109984346They removed the IP count to allow for botting the site with fake traffic to lie to advertisers about this site's metrics.
>>109984384Even then it was still low. Not a good look.
I'll be honest, I'll be glad if the site is finally gone. And I'll be a bit sad and lonely, too.
/g/ was the most retarded board before AI>pointless linux discussions>pointless languages discussions>the exact same threads ad nauseamNow it's 75% AI bs, nothing changed
>>109984346> I'm led to believe far fewer. Less than 60 per board. What’s /g’s estimate of the number of people on /pol?Using the thread slide time to compare,my guess is /pol has 10X /g ??ie somewhere below 1000 Anons?
>>109984581/pol/ probably has the lowest human user rate out of any board both percentile wise and in absolute numbers.
>>109984599> pol/ probably has the lowest human user rate out of any board both percentile wise and in absolute numbers./pol clearly has a huge Bot rate - the Bake threads seem to have the most Real people. Most stand alone /pol threads seem to be PsyOps nutters or Shills
>>109980781Just me and you.
>>109984503Based AI and fuck discord and reddit rejects that set up camp here with their consummerism garbage generals and autismos competing to out autismo each other
>>109984646Don't forget the curry niggers scouring /g/ for shit to repost to twitter (for elonbucks) and to repost screenshots of their tweet of a screenshot of a /g/ post on /g/ (for engagement).A vital part of the endless cycle of bullshit.
>>109984581/b/ and /pol/ are probably the larger boards with humans, in the hundreds. Everything else is 10-50. More people lurk than post, so you've got an audience in the thousands watching the activity of a few hundred people. I'd imagine law enforcement makes up a large chunk of the non posting audience.
Computer components have increased so quickly during hard economic times that interest has been priced out. While ai replaces many of the coders and tech job computer centric nerds. This dramatic drop in computer tech consumption by consumers means less posts on the latest pc builds and software.AI and datacenters are killing the consumer pc market.Discussing ai constantly won't replace that traffic.
>>109980781/g/ is about 2.5x slower than it was in 2013 and 2022 after GPT got popular, and about 20% slower than it was at the same time last year. I'd say a decent amount is the new captcha. As to a total number, who knows. It's probably more than 300 if you count lurkers. If you don't count lurkers, maybe it's 300? Still seems kind of low, but who knows.
>>109980781I'm guessing ~30 active users.
>>109980781it looks like its just one guy named Anonymous who types really fast and likes arguing with himself
>>109984853all me btw
There are only like 3 faggots who post here. Everything else is bots
>>109984823I literally know everything. I am here to tell you the average number of faggots on this board at any given time is about 3000-5000.
Ya'll are lowballing big time, except the faggot above me.In a given year there's easily over ten thousand submarine lurkers who pop in once in a while, and over a thousand submarine posters. The more regular types, sure, they're fewer. My glowie entourage alone is at least a half dozen, and I'm nobody.
>>109984961honestly it depends on how you interpret op's question.like is it how many people are actively (say within an hour window) viewing /g/? how many unique viewers in a day/week/month/year? posters vs. lurkers?if you're talking unique visitors per year i'm sure it's in the hundreds if not into the thousands, but at any particular moment? probably not that high.
>>109984987You really think /g/ only gets hundreds of unique visitors a year? That's crazy low. Especially if you count lurkers. I'd guess the percentage of total visitors who posts is only a fraction of the amount of lurkers. Like 5-10% posters, 90-95% lurkers
>>109985024I could never understand lurkers' behavior. The idea that someone would just come here and read the discussions and then not say anything, it boggles my mind. Or maybe I'm looking at it too much in a black and white kind of way. Does rare posting (let's say 2 posts a month) count as a lurker? I always took that term to mean users who never post at all
>>109985180Nigga lurk moar or get your ass blasted for spewing garbage
>>109985180I spent like a year lurking when I first came to this site
>>1099807814chan says it has 200000+ active users every moment. So for /g/ it's at least 3000. Most are lurking I assume?
>>109985215same>>109985180you can't understand observing something without interacting with it for the purpose of making sure you fit in better?maybe it's just my social anxiety and/or autism speaking, but i do not feel comfortable posting stuff in places i'm unfamiliar with.
>>109985180This is the first post I've made on /g/ in 2 years to say that I just like to watch.
They removed the IP counter for a reason; I remember that the big general threads about hololive with 1000 replies had like 70 unique posters. The unique posters on g must be very low. With the IP counter you could see that most replies were from same fags being skizo; they would talk to OP like they just entered the thread but the IP counter would not increments. Top kek.
>>109985523>they would talk to OP like they just entered the thread but the IP counter would not increments. Top kek.I've been doing this on other boards recently, it's pretty funny. I'll pick fights with myself and rope others into it.

>>109985180I think they have a real excuse now with the captcha, even though it seems to have relaxed a bit from its worst state. It's still really awful though, until you get a trusted cookie like I'm sure most of us have. Then it's just one easy shape challenge.I think lurkers are generally people who don't browse the site so often. For example, I never post on hackernews, but I browse there every so often. I just don't like the site enough to really participate. But I know some lurkers lurk sites actively while still not engaging, and this is probably a reasonable amount of people. That I don't understand. You'd think you'd want to make a post at some point about a topic you care about, or call some guy a faggot for being a faggot. Maybe it's just nerves? I don't know. I know I can't stop myself from engaging on websites that I actually like and use, but maybe I'm just part of that 10% of users or whatever who engages with the websites they browse.
I use /g/ everyday but I probably only post here 3-4 times a week on average.
