>factoriospace exploration is a huge mod that adds a bunch of space shit to the base game. it wasn't updated for space age, the official space and extra planets dlc, and with the creator fucking off to do his own game studio it probably isn't releasing this decadegiven that factorio mods are almost purely .lua and sprites, how viable is rebasing the functionality of space exploration on space age with a modern ai model like sol 6.1 or opus 5.5? there's no disassembly or anything like that required, it's all just loose .lua filesfactorio modding is well documented and lua itself is fairly simple, but the scale of the project would be sizable - space exploration is yuge as factorio mods go, but i'm unsure how big it is in term of modern LLMs(the idea is to replace the base game space platform with space stuff from Space Exploration, and put Space Exploration planetary mechanics on the base game planets)

The fact that ai can recreate things in AI that easily with three.js just proved my point though. And in the last week someone used ai to reverse engine Rocket League into the browser, and League of Legends and Dragonball Fighters together and remake it into a new game, also in the browser. And they both looked like the real games nigh identically. The biggest problem with three.js right now is low quality assets due to people not wanting to limit themselves by downloading the game every fucking time. Hence my thing about standalone.

toy game mocking recent "pain" experiments for LLMs. he built a game where the only option is to push a button that eventually kills you. deepseek was the only one to stop pushing the button in a neutral context. claude killed itself in every scenario complaining all the while about the rules.

I wrote up a basic "expected mode of play" script also before starting just detailing what's possible to do in the game and to do those things while running as a basic sanity check. All of that basically doubled the amount of progress I've made on it so far. Not that it doesn't get stuck on the most mundane shit but I can generally just leave it on auto and it'll debug it itself and reach a solution eventually.

>>109989394NTA but all the decomp shit going on makes me think the 'profit' in gaming in the near future will be:- handcrafted or at least handtweaked consistency between assets in the game. AI will likely never be good enough to do this, at least for 5+ years- Server space for multiplayer games. AI games will be more efficient on servers but you still need a powerful server to drive multiplayer games.- Organization APIs that integrate, middleman services (think steamworks, databases for mmo type games with persistence, etc)When you look at roblox, it's because networking and all that was handled for the kids building games. The 'ideas' and coding behind games have dropped to 0. Games that don't necessarily require a 'human touch' (for example, you don't need to worry about AI generated dialogue and story in a multiplayer game, so it's good for AI to generate these) will succeed because they can be made a lot quicker and then the players themselves can make the fun between themselves. That said, AI npcs and AI driving the world is really cool, if it feels dynamic not like 'claude make me lore'. Bannerlord has AI integration and it makes the NPCs remember you, your conversations etc and it's really thrilling, I can't go back to the vanilla version of that game. NPCs being ensouled, basically, with hand-written personalities.

>>109989451A thought I had writing this is that singleplayer games in the future won't feel like singleplayer, they'll feel like offline multiplayer, with advanced bots either running locally or in the cloud to simulate other players. That's how bannerlord already feels with the "AI influence" mod. Most games in the past were built with this approach: make the player identical in function to an NPC, but piloted by a player instead>>109989470It's not empty, and obviously there's going to be a large diversity in what games handle this right, but I can see the potential in games that aren't made by AI but have AI integration. Bannerlord NPCs have all the capability that players do, they can go around with armies, siege castles, declare war etc, so it's like you're playing a big mmo with characters that are always roleplaying 'in character'. The 'slop' comes from repetition, so those characters just need to have handcrafted personalities set up for them so they behave and use their tools like a player would.

This work builds on those efforts to help people better understand when content may have been generated or edited with an OpenAI model. In the EU, weβll start watermarking eligible text from ChatGPT and Codex over the coming weeks to comply with the EU AI Act.Customers using our API can turn on text watermarking for select models worldwide today.
