Firefox is in trouble again and it could soon be too late. The Gecko engine is outdated (28 year old code paths still in use), missing large chucks of browser standards like WebUSB (Which is used by embedded systems engineers), they ignore Bugzilla reports for up to 20 years in some cases. There are only three target audiences for Firefox left. First is Linux users (Most distros still use it by default out of habit, but many distros are switching to Vivaldi, Brave or just Vanilla/Ungoogled Chromium as the default). Second is the increasingly endangered species of Windows 7 users (Firefox's telemetry reports around 4% of Firefox users using Windows 7 as of October 2026). Finally the Dark Elephant in the room is the ublock origin users. Despite Firefox's existence relying on ad revenue from Google search and sponsored tiles in the browser, large amounts of Firefox bite the advertising hand that feeds the web and makes life hard for publishers.

Then there is the outrage over the round and purple theme they recently announced, making Firefox look like a toy browser. Firefox could end up in DEEP shit if Google makes future advertising revenue dependent on them kicking out ublock origin from the extension store or if enough people revolt over the design to switch to alternate browsers. (I already switched to Vivaldi after losing faith in the Fox).

My suggestions are the following
Make the Firefox design conservative by default making it look serious for use in offices and schools
Tell Gorhill to make his own browser.
Make a deal with a Linux distro to migrate the remaining Windows 7 users
Vibecode all the missing HTML standards into the Firefox codebase so enterprise can deploy their web apps.
Be honest about your funding and disclose exact dollar amounts for every activity that Mozilla does
Lay off the pseudoactivism.

ff should be spun off from mozilla but it's never gonna happen of course

dont care still using firefox
>>
i've noticed this sudden hate campaign against firefox. interesting isnt it.

I don't even know what that is and I don't care.

TLDR

The web is dead, all the normalniggers, zoomers, boomers, indians and alfies are locked into googles and apples app ecosystems.

Didn't read. I'm a proud Firefox user and no sort of logical argument is gonna convince me to use another product.

People gonna hate on you but you're (mostly) right.
I miss the old logo... Anyways, I'm personally hoping Librewolf becomes good, but I know that's almost a pipr dream.

Zero issues for me here and uBO only works fully on fox
>>
>>109986985
Why don't you just make (vibecode) your own browser from scratch?

From scratch you say?

Anytime the theme changes people complain. It doesn't fucking matter because firefox lets you change everything. The purpose of firefox is adblocking and its extensions you dipshit fuckhead. If they abandon that everyone will have zero reason to stick with it. As far as the rest of the shit you are retard.
>>
>>109987463
Firefox is in a good spot. The less people understand uBlock Origin and true ad blockers, the more I can freeload. People like OP allow my parasitic lifestyle. I recommend anyone who is not a friend or family to install Chrome. The best browser for the cattle.
>>
Don't think there's anyone more cringe on /g/ than Firefox users. Fuckers truly believe that they are some sort of intellectual elite just because they use a bad browser.

>Lay off the pseudoactivism.

That's not a real thing. It's not even a real word.

What I would like to see them do is remove all the bloat and go back to being a lean, mean browser.

People can weigh it down with add-ons if they want to, but don't make me install features I'm never going to use.
>>
Ah yes, the embedded systems engineers. The ones who are notorious for writing web applications and make up for a sizable amount of the user base.
>>
with border radius at 0px and uBO working perfectly, why would i switch to anything else?

Missing WebUSB is really the only thing I find lacking in Firefox. I can open up Edge for a few minutes. Not a big deal.

Total Chromium victory btw

Why web browser has to be a second OS running inside your OS?

Who gives a shit. If they kick out uBlock I'll use a fork.
>>
>>109987728
Just wondering here: why don't they use AI to fix 20 year old bugs?
Are they stupid or something?
>>
>>109986985
>nooo not the heccin 28 year old for looperino
>>
>>109987781
First, AI is currently lousy at fixing bugs that require visual testing. Second, they're focused on matching Chromium's capabilities, i.e. a moving target. If a major site works on Chrome but doesn't work properly on Firefox, that's a more important issue to fix than an old bug that fewer people care about. Mozilla doesn't set the standards, Google does.
