Life is about whatever you want it to be about.
Most people are retarded and do what jews tell them and jews tell them it's all about money so that's what they make it about and that's why most people are wage / salary slaves doing something they don't like for 40+ hours a week for 40+ years of their life where 30-50% of their income goes straight to jews via taxes and "retirement" "investments".

But yeah, why is this general still going? Isn't AI - SI sorry - supposed to do everything now?
>>
>>110000027
Actually AI makes it better to be a SE. The CS field is obviously still growing because we're still using computers for stuff and probably will for a long time and yes it is easier than ever for anyone to try to get an LLM to make something for them but it's going to cost a lot and probably just not work out if what they're building is more complex than a CRUD app and people will always hire someone who can gen code and actually understand what is being output vs a vibecoder. So now we still get to learn and do all the cool stuff and do it by hand in our free time but just sit back and have Claude do it at work then just go over every line so we know what's up after we look like geniuses to our bosses.
>>

>do it at work then just go over every line so we know what's up after we look like geniuses to our bosses.
You're about a year at most away from your boss being able to do whatever you think you do just by using whatever the 2027 version of "make no mistakes" is.
>>
>>110000271
Good thing I work at a big company that has to practice XAI to be compliant meaning someone has to actually understand what was created and Claude writes code like an autist and makes poor decisions sometimes like not setting up a service layer and just using fat controllers in a rest api.
>>
>>110000308
In less than five years someone will create a non human readable programming language for AI that will cut costs even further and it will be good enough that people will accept no one being able to see what the program is actually doing.
>>
>>109999402
All you can do with money is hire strippers and buy booze which makes you more depressed.

Is it normal for a job to call you over the phone these days to set up an interview, rather than through email?

I think they are interested in me at least because they bothered to leave a voicemail.
>>
>>110000308
They'll drop that requirement as soon as it's financially or militarily expedient to get something out fast even if it's sloppy or doesn't work right.
>>110000366
I don't see why they can't just go straight from prompt to machine code. Skip the compiler and save time and money.
>>
>>110000372

Yes.

I'm watching a project that took this attitude implode in real time. Thank God I just barely missed being part of it. Everyone involved has literally no idea what any of the code does and the more bugs they fix the more bugs they write.

Larger companies may prefer email, but sometimes smaller ones are more direct.
>>
>>110000415
It's the same thing as with Indian offshoring during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Yes it was a disaster. However it did save companies a lot of money. Eventually the companies that survived into the 2010s went back to Indians - not because they were better, but because they were cheaper and because customers became less discriminating.

Same thing will happen with AI.
If it costs $200k a year to hire a semi-competent developer, well it only costs $100 a year to get a mostly incompetent LLM, and it only has to be good enough to convince customers. Customers are becoming dumber and less discriminating every year.
>>
>>110000619
eh, i just wanted to make sure since it seems like a kind of archaic recruitment method, and on top of that, whenever I got a rejection notice it was always through email.

Has anyone here ever gotten into cyber security without one of those gay ass certifications or a college degree?

So is the job market for software engineers ever going to go back to how it was from 1980-2020 or is this the new normal?
>>
>>110000849
It's going to get worse forever. Even when/if LLMs don't work out and they go back to hiring humans, they won't be able to afford the salary you want and you'll be competing with 7 billion other people who will say they can do it just as good as you.
>>
>>110000625
>Customers are becoming dumber and less discriminating every year.
I guess if people knew how to shop for software they'd just write it themselves. I literally do this and wonder why no one else does.

>got fucked over out of college. No tech job after a year of searching

bros I'm thinking about going for CCNA. Even if I never get a tech job again I find computer networking fascinating, and I strongly regret not getting CCNA back when I (briefly, sort of) worked in networking. I had questions to ask about that but I forgot what they were. Thoughts, I guess? I remember many networking concepts like BGP and OSPF, but have no recollection of how to implement them. I bet the monthly time I spend rambling on 4chan is enough to study for and pass CCNA desu.
Also I used to work with a dude who held two CCNP certs (or concentrations or whatever) and he once asked me to help him find files in a Red Hat server. At first I thought I was misunderstanding his question, but after a while I realized he genuinely did not know what cd or ls do. Obviously CCNP isn't a Linux certification, but you'd think by that point he'd at least have touched the command line, right? Weird.

>>110000757
I can't even get back into cyber security with gay ass certifications, a college degree (to be fair, it's WGU), and five years of experience lmao good luck

>>110001263
My successful homie swears by quantifying (presumably bullshitting, though I didn't ask) every line in his resume, even if it's vague to the point of meaninglessness:
>Improved system efficiency by 30% haha what the fuck
>Increased network strength by 50% lolwut
>Improved network integrity (????) by 20%
Anecdotally speaking, I tried that with my resume and I still don't get interviews. I don't know what he's doing right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Actually I'm considering simply throwing my name on his resume and using that to see what happens.

Thank you for reading my blog post.

Yeah i thought so oh well cyber is probably on its way out just like every other tech job anyways

>bosses doing any work ever
good joke.

>>110000271
I'm telling you it's the polar opposite. My boss actually tries doing this and it's a huge mess.
>>
>>110001691
ccna isn't hard but it's not particularly valuable either
cisco's software ecosystem and "how to configure it" isn't as relevant as it used to be
as long as you practice with gns3 (or whatever it is now) you'll understand software defined networking which means you're doing ~cloud~ bullshit, which is good knowledge but again the cert isn't doing any lifting for you

definitely go ahead and study it, but as for getting it, don't worry about it
remember that cisco only wants to pass x candidates per year so that means the passing grade changes depending on how many people are trying to get it, and you'll have to compete against people memorizing dumps with flashcards (which was also diminishing cisco's certification holder's value)
>>
>>110001791
>My boss actually tries doing this and it's a huge mess.
Because the technology isn't quite there yet. But the AI companies are working hard to make it possible for even the dumbest, lowest IQ gorilla nigger to get a usable product out of a session with a coding LLM.
>>
>>110001812
CCNA was the most useless cert I ever got. A billion indians have it.

Reminder: Hinduism and it's infiltration and infestation of human civilization is why you can't get a job, and why the tech sector is dying. The enemy is openly showing us how he doesn't care about our culture and will transform it back into the barbarism of India. And your silence on these invaders is how we got to this point. Our internet is being censored by these invaders because they get 80% of all H-1B visas for decades. They can't censor you while you speak to your coworkers and friends and brown pill them on the Indian Hindu invader problem. Save your countries while there is still a little worth saving!

>>110001823
Yeah kind of like how people have been working on quantum computers. I'm sure they'll get there any year now.

in 2021 all the female colleagues at uni got jobs as cyber something at big consulting firms. So yes its possible if you fit into this niche. They all make bank and sit in meetings all day no idea what they actually produce.
