Some guy vibe coded a working photoshop alternative while GIMP still can't draw a cricle
>>110013320huh?
>>110013320>>110013374Now here's the content I came to /g/ for.
>>110013374>still looks like shitGIMPfags, everyone.
>>110013320>building a couple of datacenters and wasting a town's worth of drinking water to build an identical clone of a program>instead of asking AI to hold your idiot baby duck hand and teaching you how to click two buttonsPeople just get dumber the same speed that AI gets smarter.
>>110013374AI generated image>>110013428>>building a couple of datacenters and wasting a town's worth of drinking water to build an identical clone of a programto cuck adobe out of money? fuck I'd sacrifice my beloved car for total adobe death
>getting filtered by gimpsaar
>>110013446>if-if you don't like gimp you're a pajeet!I know you guys are retarded cultists, but you're usually more subtle.
i don't get this meme. gimp can draw a circle. it's a default tool on the toolbar. it is just optimized for a different baseline purpose
>>110013463What? Gimp has a circle tool now? I thought not having one was a good thing, or so I was told by you guys
the cool factor of a reverse engineered photoshop clone is fading as these threads get reposted every hour
>>110013428>>building a couple of datacenters and wasting a town's worth of drinking water toto destroy SaaS as a business model, make all B2C software ad-free, local-first and with no telemetry and spywareopus 5.5 and sol 6.1 is the beginning of the golden age of software and to a lesser degree video games.
>>110013462>you bloody bastard benchod saar do not redeem the gimp saarjai hind
>>110013320>drawWhat us Krita?
>>110013477someone already put it in the thread >>110013374it has an ellipse select tool; selections can be used to raster a path or generate a vector. in my opinion, this is a far more acceptable use of real estate than a fucking star shape tool. why you are assigning some imagined argument to me, i do not know.
>>110013489How much of your day is spent larping as a street shitter?
>>110013488>We're destroying the saas business model>By making the world's largest saas and making you desperately dependent on it
>>110013446idk man. I think oeople get filtered by "use two apps" (inkscape and gimp).
>>110013531"adobe chads" also do this though lol; in fact adobe has an entire suite of "apps" that are supposed to interact
>>110013516>spend $100 on tokens>you, and everybody you share it with, get a local clone of the software you'll be able to use for the next decadelocal models exist, for that matter. even if the big software shops panic hard enough that openai and anthropic cuck out and prevent disassembling and cloning, chinkmodels will be there in six months. in a year you'll be able to do it on a high end desktop.we're in the beginning stages of the death of closed source software, and it will be glorious
i have yet to see evidence that this cloneware actually works
>>110013555>Just spend $10,000 on hardware so you can have a local model that's "good enough" or else rely on my saasIt's fine to vibecode whatever slop you want but don't delude yourself into thinking this will do anything to the saas business model.
>>110013570>i have yet to see evidence that this cloneware actually workshey, you can even draw a circle with it nowadays >>110013374
>>110013510>still malding over being called out as a jeet, who got filtered by software children can useyou must really be one then
>>110013588I spent more like $3k (pre-ai prices) tho>don't delude yourself into thinking this will do anything to the saas business modelyesterday the creator of photopea was bitching on orange reddit that people did precisely that: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49982498photopea is significantly more complex than most saas
>>110013555>local models existLocal models can't do shit you fucking retard. The people who vibecoded PS spent +$2000 in tokens and it took them weeks doing this with datacenter power and not using a RTX 3060.
>>110013531>inkscapeIs there an alternative? I swear Inkscape makes me feel like I have to fight it to get shit down.I just want to edit SVGs.
>>110013621no, your shitass clunker from 2018 can't do shitmy high end desktop can run GLM 5.3 flash
>>110013621>The people who vibecoded PS spent +$2000 in tokensnta but if $2k is all it takes to clone photoshop then nothing below the complexity of a full OS is safe from bootleg clones. wash the code through "cleanroom" (just ask for a description lmao) and it isn't even illegal$2000 is peanuts to any company that's larger than like 3 dudes replacing hvac
>>110013621>2000 $Yes anon, exactly.
>>110013320>in a few weeks>I pirated photoshop in a few minutes., this guy is dumber than you are
>>110013621>The people who vibecoded PS spent +$2000 in tokensSo it's practically free?Adobe's net profit (post tax) is about twenty million dollars PER DAY. And you can recreate their shit for $2k.
>>110013428>Datacenter uses water wahhhStfu if you're not going to do anything about it
>>110013320sovl, fuck the unix philosophy, this is what we want, just copy windows, why is it so hard, stop trying to be contrarian to windows, just copy it, don't copy mac, wtf, copy windows
>>110013609Not everyone who responds to your bizarre behavior is the same person, schizo-kun. Answer the question.
I tested this morning. The alternative can't move, delete or mask edit smart objects and layer effects.
>>110014859Yeah it's pretty shit. I don't know why they triggered their big PR campaign so soon.
>>110013940Have you tried using this photoslop program? Has anyone? Wake me up when it has the same level of output as adobe.
>>110013320Thank God. GIMP isn't that bad but its uncomfortable as hell>inb4 photopeaClose enough, but... webmeme + indian dev kek
>>110013621>it took them weeks doing this with datacenter power and not using a RTX 3060.An ironic kind of skill issue. Had they used local AI they would have realized they could have just generated whatever picture instead of rewriting a program that edits them with less quality. I mean I hope they realize that now before trying to market another animal logo photoshop clone.
>>110013374why is it so lumpy
>>110015016Have you tried using this photoslop program? Has anyone? Wake me up when it has the same level of output as adobe.Yeah let me go do that>opens photoshop clone>"1girl, feet, blaze the cat">fuck, nothing>opens photoshop, tries the prompt>fuck still nothingShit's not working, well at least I know what it will work on.
i just use photopea
>>110013621>+$2000 in tokensSo like... 2 weeks worth of the $200 sub?
>>110013320i opened this thread just to correct you: my hand is indeed steady enough to draw a circle using gimp.
>>110013320Uhm, ackshually!
>>110015511
>>110013320Then draw the circle or get the plug in retard.
>>110013374beautiful circlegimp really does it like no other
GIMP is not a drawing program
>>110013588>don't delude yourself into thinking this will do anything to the saas business model.lollmao, evenIt'll be a new business segment in the imminent future. Individual shops probably won't all be making their own clones, but with how capable LLMs are now (and relatively cheap), "just" SaaS providers are going to get ran out of town by small up-and-comers who are willing to not try and milk every penny out of enterprise. It was cost prohibitive before, but now you can build software clones trivially with practically 0 overhead. If the software isn't also bundling in expensive computer or part of a large ecosystem of interconnected tools, it's not going to be able to compete with a dude and some tokens cloning your latest feature without needing to do any market research or design planning or whatever.
>>110015679neither photoshop, illustrator, etc
>>110015674Kek
I always dreamed of making built in photoshop clone into Blender, now with the power of vibe coding someone finally can make it and I can steal it.
>>110015679There it is.
>>110013320fake news probably. ai is really good at getting something up quick and not very good at creatng a polished project. every time an agent spawns into a repo it has to read the entire repo from scratch in order to continue the project. he probably has some shitty demo that people are freaking out about that will never become a full replacementthats 90% of vibe coded projects is glorified demos or one-offs
>>110015703There are free alternatives now that aren't slopcoded and it has done nothing to the saas business model.
>>110015679I don't want to have to open up Inkscape every time I want to create and/or edit a simple circle.
>>110013462>you guyswho?
>>110014859we dont give a fuck beaver, gimp is over and so are your plugins
>>110013488>I'm using SaaS as a business to vibecode>So I can end SaaS as a business
between the FOSS AI clones and the resurgence in piracy, jews are btfo
>>110013952
>>110015532WTF, there is no way python is that fucking slow.
>>110015016few guys on /g/ posted their experience and apparently most the tools simply don't work, most keybinds dont work. after they point these things out you get a swam of indians saying "it's been only a few days!! give it time!"!that would be a solid point if this garbage wasn't spammed constantly on hackernews, reddit and /g/
>>110016540Moving, deleting and blending smart objects and layer effects are mandatory for advanced workflows. That stings, but its mostly true on both counts even though GIMP will continue to develop. But in every practical sense for the masses AI has replaced everything. But at least my plugins help me and keep me happy as well as the small pool of people that used them and thanked me. Even if I didn't behave like a nazi and still helped GIMP it was already too lateLittle known fact. 3 weeks before I got banned from GIMP right after GIMP 3 released I told them my main mission was complete and I was going to show up less and focus on other things. If an alternative time line existed and GIMP 3.0.4 released in 2012 and my plugins somehow existed from 2009-2012 instead of 2022-2025 that could have seriously broke the internet and demolished Adobe.I had Grok write a fictional story about an alternative reality where GEGL was just as advanced in 2012 as it was in 2022, and somehow I stumbled upon FOSS way earlier and wasn't an ex nazi and was making GEGL plugins as early as 2009 instead of 2022 and somehow GIMP development was ahead the GTK3 port happened on time and GIMP 3.0.4 released in 2012 and went viral and put an end to Adobe's monopoly. At least I tried to make GIMP better unlike the loons on this board that just repeat the same "it can't draw a circle meme"Too bad that's only a work of fiction
>>110013374I don't fucking get why people shit on gimp. They are retarded faggots who don't even use it. I don't need to do complicated shit with it, just basic edits and preparing shitty client files for print, for my use case it's fucking awesome.Fuck the haters.
>>110016956PS is slightly easier to use than GIMP for sure, but I agree most haters are retarded. Most people don't need any of the extra features that PS has over GIMP, and if GIMP is hard, just use Krita, which IMO is awesome.Unless the user is a professional photographer or illustrator that needs to deal with massive images and industrial printers and rare proprietary data formats the user doesn't need photoshop at all. And even it does, it will be replaced by AI soon enough.
I do hate the gimp projectthey are sitting on several millions in bitcoin and they have done jack shit with them
>>110016794your plugins were already outdated in 2009
>>110016956Its better than windows paint desu. Comparing it to photoshop is wrong. New modern photoshop today is nearly like using AI, and may even have an AI built into it.
