No, Omarchy pays over 1.3 million dollars to advertise it, so we have to see that spam in every thread. Also mods don't yet understand or see it as a spam, so we have to wait. Every thread there is two anons spamming 20 different screenshots of same unreadable ugly shit to collect their money.

Entirely, it's based on L4 with some concepts from Zircon (Fuchsia's kernel), some concepts from Mach. Behind the OS is a 12k LoC capabilities-enabled microkernel, and everything else is in userspace. Networking, audio, USB, custom filesystem, GUI based on Windows 2000 as you can see from the image(s). This image is a bit older, I still used the start menu placeholder icon from Win2k.

You mentioned sunclock in the last thread. This was a recreation of it using FvwmButtons.
Originally I did use sunclock, but while rewriting it, I realized that you could simply use 24 pregenerated images to achieve a similar result.
sunclock is quite advanced if you look at the source. It's thousands of lines long with it's own widget toolkit.

Brave, Omarchy and others pay for shilling. Instead of just paying for actual ads, they also pay for reviews and shills to spam good posts about it, larping as normal users. No norman actual user would shill for MITM spyware that has stolen money from users and sold user data. Everybody knows this. Even "open source" is fake when Brave doesn't even have reproducible binaries. We all know this.

Nobody actually uses Brave or Omarchy. They both are just honeypots, they took devs under their wing that were too much politically right, and now try to get open source and privacy anons under that project to control them and make money using them. So obvious.

Riiight. Because they're going to pay people to shill on a site full of NEETs with no money that can't even attract legitimate advertising. Omarchy (by Omacom) is "We've made the decisions for you" Linux distro, heavily AI-assisted around proprietary software, designed to run proprietary AI coding agents (unusual security risk) having access to your full system, where they execute commands usually not stop for confirmation.

>honeypot or legitimate project?
>the funding and promotion are certainly unusual $18.5 million
>Sam Altman (Co-founder and CEO of OpenAI), Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Meta), Tobi Lütke, Patrick Collison, Michael Dell, Jeff Friedman, Leonid Dubinsky, Stav Solomon, Aaron Reisman, Amir Harel, Benjamin Katz, Benjamin Wolf, Bruno Katzjarowski, David Dashefsky, Davis Goodman, Jacob Rosenthal, Nina Dubinsky, Roman Weisman, Salomon Mole, Yam Catzenelson etc.
>heavy promotion & large scale SEO (similar how Brave has promoted w/ $30 million spent)
>Meta, Cloudflare, Anthropic, OpenAI etc.
>Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Google Antigravity, GitHub Copilot etc.
>Spotify, 1Password, proprietary/web applications, Discord, WhatsApp, other commercial services
>includes Basecamp & DHH owned 37signals & related software/services
>1.5-2.0 GB RAM usage at idle + large default installation
>passwordless sudo w/ disabled sudo password prompts
>paid AI APIs, token-subscriptions

Reported security issues:
>accepts command injection through video titles, notifications, sudo helper
>Lua injection through USB device names
>privilege escalation/path injection
>unsafe temporary-file handling

Same 0/10 unreadable trash like every single copy paste screenshot you post. Stop spamming. Do something different once. Learn Linux. Holy shit you are a loser. Learn anything really.
>>
>>110028585
>We've made the decisions for you
That was the case, yes. It is no longer the case. Omarchy has moved away from the "Omakase, opinionated" format to focusing instead on being "agentic" with integration of every major LLM by default, with skills specifically pertaining to Omarchy. Instead of "you'll use what we give you and like it" it's now "what do YOU want your OS to do? Even if you haven't written a single line of code in your entire life, you can make Omarchy do anything you want it to."

While this could all be done on literally ANY distro, the point is to target users who are new to AI as well as being already set up and ready to work for developers who use AI as part of their normal workflow.

Incorrect. The only thing that remains the same is the terminal. I've changed quite a bit on the bar, that's a totally different FM, with a different icon set and different GTK theme (because I literally just released the GTK theme and build script last night)
What you're doing is crying that I'm not changing my entire WM to something else - why the fuck would I? That's as retarded as distro hopping after you've found something that works.

Decided to work on my fallout hacking mini game, had to fix an error users were getting when playing it on cool-retro-term where "winning" was causing a crash because it would try to write text that would be outside the window and require scrolling. The way CRT is written that's a no no. Every other term would just write the damn text and you'd have to scroll, if your term window was too small or font too big, for it to display inside the current window bounds.
>>
>>110036911

You just expressed my feelings on the matter very well. This whole "stop liking things I don't like" shit seems to be heavily indicative of autism. Like actual autism, not this undiagnosed "it's just my brand of autism" shit people say because they think they match enough to the description of autism. Like true, actual autism for someone to crash out the way some of these faggots do, full REEEEEEE mode, as soon as you like a thing they don't.
>>
>>110037132
Nah they're just artists mad about losing an audience to things that literally copy them kek.
Then the fucking AI artists get mad when people call them slop.

I just like having the ability to tweak ideas that original artists made to my taste. It's not greatly accurate at all, but it's kinda fun. Image sampling. It's a synthesizer for pictures.

Both artists/AI artists get really mad when their ego is attacked. I still use images from the best artists to this day because they do something unique to their own taste, not my taste. I like experiencing their taste.
But likewise I like that with AI art and my own art.

But I will admit that the plunderphonics of visual art is kinda undercooked and suffers from this production quality which is hard not to notice. You get that with music too, but it's easier to ignore.

As an actual artist (well music production, which for the sake of transparency a recent survey showed that more than 80% of the industry uses *some* kind of AI tools so we tend not to push back against new tech if it makes creating art easier) I have a tough time with the subject, because the artists who are fighting so hard against AI right now would've been the same ones fighting against shit like Photoshop 30+ years ago. But they use Photoshop today and treat it as a perfectly acceptable tool for creation of artwork. But when Photoshop was new, artists were crying about it saying "that's not art!" anytime they saw something that was obviously created digitally. So it's only a matter of time before AI becomes an accepted artist tool across various mediums (it's already accepted in music - but in music if you write the song and arrange it, and have an orchestra play it, that's still a valid piece of music despite the fact that you personally didn't touch an instrument, so that logic allows AI to be more accepted)
>>
>>110037467
It really depends on the music genre really. Blip Bloopers have been doing everything digitally for a long ass time, VSTs have caught up with metal. So did rappers. Pop has been overproduced and autotuned for ever. I guess the only holdouts are rockers and metalheads. But no one listens to that shit anyway unless it's big acts going on tour to milk their aging fanbase because royalty payments are drying up and those McMensions aren't cheap to upkeep. Or they found Jesus.
>>

what's the benefit of having a separate program for something like telegram when you can just run it on your browser and save cookie exception? Why does anon still fall for webapps?
>>
>>110037522
Yeah I'm pretty sure the 20% that don't use AI are the metalheads. They're the same ones that, if they find out AI was used in any part of a production, claim that they can hear some kind of subtle white noise sound. It's not there. In fact, it's more likely to be there in music produced *without* AI because the luddites are actually putting shit like that into their music that's barely perceptible to humans but confuses AI so they think it's going to protect them from AI "stealing" their shitty gung gung arrarrarrr SKREEEEEEE 'music' that no one can understand anyway. They could make the anti AI noises perfectly loud and clear and no one would know the difference.

>>
>>110042258
Opencode-Go is $10 a month but it runs off of a quota system rather than raw "tokens" and there are some models that don't use hardly any quota at all, like I had my DeepSeek V4.1 Flash agent adding a randomized loot system to a game I've been working on since 1996, and it was programming for six straight hours and used 0.0001% of my monthly quota. You can literally just tell it "i want a program that will display only desktop threads from the 4chan technology board" and it'll make it. Then you iterate; add features, describe things in better detail that it got wrong etc until you have exactly the program you want.

this is the funniest thing about omarchy & linux ecosystem. 20 millions is peanuts for all the contributors, who also have HEAVILY benefited from Linux before LLMs and so on. I know Linux kernel, some distros and some specific software gets support through funding or code contributions from some companies but compared to lump sums like this the difference is incredible. I know it's all just smoke and mirrors / PR stuff (like they can pretend to "support" Linux when in reality they're just making sure that omarchy will be bundled with their stuff, basically just advertising money)

Two best options for Linux VR: Bazzite and Omarchy. Bazzite is a no tinkering required gaming focused distro where steamVR works pretty well out of the box, Omarchy only makes the list because the way it's built around AI, if you can't get something to work you just tell your clanker to fix it and it does. (There's free agents if you don't have an AI subscription)

But I'd definitely say go with Bazzite first, and I'm a goddamn Omarchy Evangelist (aka unpaid shill because I love it) but it's really only the best option as a fallback if something refuses to work on Bazzite

Bought a cheap ass Chromebook for the hell of it, despite the shit specs (dual core Intel N50 with no hyperthreading, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage) it runs Linux software FAR better than I was expecting, I'm actually quite impressed.

I almost installed gentoo with systemd and KDE like a normie. I have up after waiting 5 hours for the kernel to finally compile. Honestly kernel compiling part is annoying and made it just not worth the process for me considering the fact that when I recompile the kernel im missing like half of drivers I really need for mouse keyboard and screen cords. Waste of time desu.

Do you want any wayland or cinnamon specifically? Why not hyprland or something more hip and not bloatware?
>>

I tried qubes OS. Its overrated because the biggest security protocol you can ever have is your head.
>>
>>110062026
what kind of shitbox are you on, it takes me 13min to compile the kernel

I have a standard intel laptop accustomed cpu bruh. I dont use Linux on my gaming rig although maybe I will in the future. Anyway I just wanted to experiment with gentoo and surprisingly the process was simple yet long. My laptop is hp Pavillion x360 with a touchscreen and some specific hardware that sometimes I need to realize that Linux wont work as well as I need it to as Im discovering when using Arch on it.

For example I was struggling with making my laptop hibernate with deep memsleep setting for suspend then hibernate functionality like macs have.

When i recompiled the kernel for fun I was missing half of features. Maybe I just included all drivers instead of the ones I need. When I run a script to scam my current set of drivers it compiles with half of the stuff that I use missing. Open-source hacking is annoying.
