Because they don't demand active participation, you don't have to pay attention as much. Every time your attention lapses while you're playing your multiplayer sloppa of choice, you miss out on a chunk of the book, and the audiobook just continues on regardless. You can't do that with physical books. If you zone out, you're stuck on the same damn page until you snap out of it and actively drag your eyes over to the next sentence. It forces you to concentrate on its contents and as a result, you get more out of a physical book than you do an audiobook. And that's not even taking into account the fact that human beings generally suck at multitasking. You're half-assing your video game and your learning when you do that shit.
