What have you done of actual purpose that would justify buying it?
>>110024208sell it two years later at 400% price
>>110024208I use it as a media player for streaming from piracy sites. No kofie, no bullshit, just firefox and a Bluetooth remote.Bought two of these for $130 btw. heh
>>110024208Put it on mediocre robots, jump hosts for remote monitoring stations (I own a lot of rural land), "cyberdecks."
anything
>>110024208https://www.amazon.com/waveshare-7inch-LCD-HDMI-Consumption/dp/B015E8EDYQyou can put this on the front of dual 5.25" drive bays(pic) this a fpga dev board that plug via pcie x4 and can be turned into a sdr with a fmc card.
Network wide ad blocking
>>110024208Nothing. Used it as a server for a few weeks, dabbled a bit with electronics, then it sat in the drawer for 8 years and finally died for whatever reason.
I've never done anything of purpose in my life.
>>110024208I bought two dozen of them and now I'm a millionaire.
>>110024344useless
>>110024208this thing hasnt been useful or cool since 2015
>>110024656They still all use seperate domains for administrative reasons and likely will until the current civilization collapses.
>>110024684i can only think of one thing that it might be good atif you have it laying around and you care to spend a few bucks on parts, you could make a portable videogame. anything else microcontrollers clear this little bum
>>110024707one video game cool ABSOFUCKINGNOTHING else does this bettereven a fucking esp32 can emulate now. fucking ESLs
>>110024344I do that with a pi 3 with shitty pi-hole. Makes life so much better.>>110024656Ok fren
>>110024208at their current prices? nothing justify buying one
>>110024208>16gb>$350No thanks I'm good.
>>110024321wow meanwhile I can buy a USB sdr>>110024208low key I can't decide between getting a esp32-p4 or a 1gb pi 5 for a backyard trail cam. the esp is low powered but the pi has full OS overhead bloat, decisions decisions
>>110024208Other than >>110024246 I think the realest use for these things is a router a la OpenWR>>110024344OpenWRT can do this and be a router at the same time. The adblocker package takes like 5 minutes to set up. Pic related are the filter lists I use. Hagezi is multi-pro.plus and StevenBlack is standard-gambling. You can of course add more, but I've found this to be a good base.
>>110024208240p video output. That's literally all i use mine for.
>>110024836The way things are right now, that's about the same price as a 16gb DDR5 kit on it's own.
>>110024208I think I have all, 1/2/3/4 apart from 5, and also zero and zero w. 5 is retarded. doesn't really fityou can use them for a lot of shit. one is for my air quality sensors, one for pihole and shit. random use for others are writing some eeprom on some device whatever. testing some spi/i2c device. random shit you come acrossbut again, they lost it at 5, they become greedyif you just need a small computer get a x86 odroid
>>110024208i bought a chink version that has a huge amount of onboard memory, and i used it to browse big databases in memory
>>110024208My dog died, so in order to preserve his memory, I had him taxidermied and stuck a Raspberry Pi inside to turn him into my own console
i have an rpi 4 model b 8gb collecting dust and desperately trying to come up with a project to use it for that can't just be done on a laptop. tried asking ai and it keeps suggesting some gay home automation projects
>>110025384he got that dawg in him
>>110024208Grafana/Promtheus/log exporter dump/dns server
>>110024836Use case for 16GB on a 3.14? If you need 16GB, you need moar than a pi, fgt
the issue with higher ram variant pis is that they're severely bottlenecked by the cpu. does anyone have any actual use case that makes use of its low power usage and form factor? otherwise, i don't see why you can't just use a normal system for any other application
i used mine along with home assistant to have a local only echo / homepod thingnow i can say "turn off the light" and it turns off the light even when the internet is downliving in the future
>>110025535Was that worth the price? Was living in the future really worth it?
>>110025523i use mine for high throughput data processing, with the high memory being utilized to minimize disk usage. it's not very necessary, but i like the idea of saving my nvme lifespan
