refrigerators don't need an internet connection.
>bbbut sensors, what if a fridge goes down and the staff don't know!?!?
So have a thermostat hooked to an arduino and reporting on a local network, there is no need for internet based controls.
France cucked themselves with IoT with predictable results.

smart anything is a dumb idea.

not bitcoin but blockchain technology itself. which would have been an actual good use case for it. I remember 40 IQ managers never shutting the fuck up about it in 2018 and IoT stuff like this would have been an interesting way to secure this kind of thing

In what way?
>>
>>110053444
>>110053470
Those refrigerators were likely connected via PLCs. Not much different from arduinos on a local network. In fact they're basically the same exact thing but more expensive.
>>
>>110053444
Why do you need your fridges to be IOT?
>Muh remote monitoring
Just have thermometers separate from the fridge thermostat, it serves the exact same purpose and when you swap out fridges you can reuse the thermometer.

What's crazy is how breaches are such a regular occurences nowadays and people don't give a shit.
Nobody can be half-assed to keep our data secured but we still entrust companies with them.

You'd be surprised by the extreme level of retardation your average company can have.
At one of my previous job, we used to let clients just put random USB drives in our machines so they could access their files, and I got reprimanded for pointing it out.
>>
just cut off the device's serial receive pin so it can transmit but not receive data.
problem solved.

crazy that France used to be a relevant country
>>
>>110053770
It's probably still the most relevant country in the EU (though plenty of Germans may disagree).
It's just that the EU itself is now increasingly irrelevant, dragging down its "members".
>>
>>110053770
France is more relevant than neighbors
not that they put up much competition
>>
>>110053704
I think he was exaggerating with the Arduino example. I'm sure it's possible to have fridges that can be controlled over a network without them being exposed to the Web. "Smart" tech isn't inherently bad, we don't need to go back to monke to avoid problems. The problem is that people are retards (including those who work with smart tech) and most likely some exec got a mean stiffy out of the idea of being able to adjust fridge temps in all his supermarkets by just swiping an app on his phone.

>>110053652
Airports have to deal with international companies, so they're kinda forced to bring in new systems that can deal with what those companies use.
The public transport doesn't have to, though.
>>
>>110053487
>>110053529
I bet you could not even articulate how you would go about implementing a blockchain to secure IoT devices.
