What is your engine roadmap looking like, anon-kun?
>>110064779I don't have one, but next things are migrating from SDL2 to 3 and making an AppImage for Linux builds.
>>110064779My engine is mostly finished. I just need to implement more scripting apis and maybe a SDL backend (working with sfml right now).
>>110064779I'm pretty much done I just have to load the geometry onto the GPU so I can render my triangle
>>1100647791) fixing random regressions that appeared out of nowhere in recent changed2) update to newest Vulkan and read about all the renderpass shortcuts and other QoL they added since its inception3) resolve physics issues, implement missing parts of the physics engine, esp joints stuff4) full ragdoll physics, procedural animations and basic character behavior5) Vocaloid integration and automatic speech-like tuning or voice style transfer if former is infeasible6) consider LLM integration and rich character interactions7) stereophotogrammetry and inside out tracking -> lighthouse less AR with occlusion and allRoughly in that order. I keep the AI and HMD related stuff for later because they both are fast changing and there might be some out of the box solutions down the line. Like the fact that Steam Frame doesn't need lighthouse already solves half of 7), but it'd need an attachment for pass through then.
working on physics tooling in my editor has been really painful but it's slowly coming along
>>110066202here's what the actual physics editor mode looks like so far also
>>110064779I've done "draw a basic mesh and move the camera around".Now I need to actually load a proper model and do shit with that.
is there a way to download or pirate asset packs from like itch and the like? I want to try making a simple platformer to test out what I learned but what I'm finding is crazy limited, especially 3D ones
>>110066712itch, idk, but there's this on rutracker: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5394283you will need unity and its built-in fbx exporter to use them thoughi'm using a version of unity that's from 2019 or 2020 (shitty pc) and it works perfectly
